Locus Map (4+) / Re: Locus Map 4, discussion
« on: December 22, 2019, 13:09:27 »
Vertical inverse order of sidebar is confusing.
Tbh, that round button looks sexy, but I don't need it.
Map screen content button is a good move.
Top bar is quite useless currently.
Allow for hiding anything via a double tap, or after timeout!
Allow to add more than 8 user def. main menu entries.

Bottom left main menu is alright. Stylistically it looks good.

If the top bar will be editable as it is now, we need empty spaces that we can add optionally. Reason: notch areas which reach into the top bar, on newer Smartphones if turned on.

Locus Map (4+) / Re: Re: [APP] - version 3.42.+ ( 5. 12. 2019 )

I rarely need zoom buttons and prefer the way it is, or at least allow to hide them as it's possible with the toolbars.

I was surprised, Locus is able to turn on GPS if it needs it - but not on navigation/guidance? Should be included IMO.

The Mate 20 X is awesome. Great performance and a battery with its 5000 mAh beast. Did not test longer periods of track recording, but I'm convinced it will work. Have added Locus to the power management exceptions etc... And track recording seems to be more precise than my Sony Z1 because it uses more satellite systems. Yesterday it say about 40 satellites at the same time...

I did a lot of v4 map switching and they all load quickly. No white boxes etc. I am happy about the vector map system again. There's just that text bug (cut text) on first load of area, as John already mentioned. Thx for your hard work!

3.38.3 first start with nullpointer exception and no map loading. Subsequent starts ok and look like v4 vector maps work again. Slower as v3 maps but acceptable. Edit: not even sure about this. I'd say GOOD JOB MENION. A big step forward. I am finally and exclusively using v4 maps and themes.
Expecting more bugs since this 3.38 is a big update.

Many thanks that we can turn off map smoothness. It's more transparent and direct this way.

And it runs great on my meanwhile very outdated Sony Z1.

Well, I had a look on the 2 raster maps I use. TopPlusOpen and Kompass. The size is pretty much perfect (a bit varying in different ZL). But I can see if Locus chose 2x instead 3x, it'll be too small again. I'd prefer to use it as it is now.

Live tracking / web page

Usefulness and my acceptance of the locus livetracking would be bigger, if there wasn't wasted space on the target website. I can understand you need to sell Locus client, but still, enthusiasm may not arise from bad websites. As much map space as possible, please! A floating hamburger menu and "buy locus" only inside the menu please.
Also that center/right info extender is too huge.
I'm obviously talking about the smartphone interface.

You must make something really good, because otherwise the Whatsapp+Google maps livetracking is the preferred solutuin for people.
Last note: It improved, I have seen it. But needs to be better.

I want to edit an existing theme like "Elevate". What I want is, I want to have Parking on top of everything else no matter what. So that I can easily find parking spaces.
Because currently, I changed it to display from ZL15 onwards. But still in some zoom levels "P" symbol  is shown, then in another it is not shown because something else is displayed.

So, how is Priority done? Where do I want to look for documentation. "Mapsforge themes" is that the topic?

Look, there's XML stuff like this...

Code: [Select]
    <rule e="any" k="amenity" v="parking" zoom-min="15">
<rule e="any" k="access" v="private|destination|acc_no">
<symbol src="file:/ele_res_l/s_parking_private.png" />
<rule e="any" k=" " v="~">
<symbol src="file:/ele_res_l/s_parking.png" />
<rule e="node" k="*" v="*" zoom-min="14">
<caption k="ele" dy="28.1" font-size="9" font-style="bold" fill="#0092DA" stroke="#FFFFFF" stroke-width="2.00" />

Priority is a terrible thing in Locus. Like, on a world map, it does not display "New York City", but it loves to display "Dead dog memorial of an unknown NYC citizen", or "Saint George Kindergarten". etc etc

Themes - Vector maps / Re: [Theme] Voluntary UK
« on: February 02, 2019, 16:01:12 »
Great, thx. My favourite hiking theme. The only change I do is giving shelters more attention. View starting at zl15 plus a red symbol 😁

Bug? Track manager in lock screen, tracks sorted by elev. gain.
Unlock device, bring another app to front, go back to Locus: Track screen says it has no data.
