Uff, hard 14+ days ...

Version MapGooglePlay_4.4.3.28_1045_beta published as Beta.

Major change
- final version 1.0 of the filesystem on A11+. More & discussion in a separate topic here, thanks

Minor changes
- few fixes & as usual, check the latest news after the app start. I'll also comment on your latest comments here later.

@tapio will understand why I make this trivial post ;-)

Attached are examples of a "point visibility count" bug. It is likely a very rare instance, and I can't reproduce it, but thought I'd share it anyway for some fun. I think it is likely some incorrectly cached database count of visible points. In original case, count=1 but actual visible=0; in another case count=0 but actual visible=4. When I tapped on "show all" then "show none" the count was finally fixed.

Hallo,

Lost shaping points is a random but more or less regular problem for me.
This year I always close Locus after route planning (and save track). At least this year no lost points.
Don't know if this was just luck.

With me, losing of shaping points happens in 75% of the cases in which I mix a routing profile with manual lines. Thats why I avoid using manual lines whenever possible. I also can't find a rule behind it, but it doesn't seem to have to do something with time. Often, I save a new route, then try to open it again because I want to change something, and all shaping points are gone.

New version MapGooglePlay_4.4.3.20_1044_beta.apk ready for test.

News probably does not appear during the start so check them in the "About app" screen!

Major: (close to) final V1 version of the new file system for A11+ devices. Transfer of root directory should be now 100% reliable no matter if it's terminated in the middle or any problem happens.

Custom directory anywhere on the device is now supported only for the "backup". Other options need a lot more test and we may discuss it later.

@tapio
you are right that export may be done better. I'll look at it, thanks.

I've just finished the first draft of a theme that I use on my e-ink phone. The xml and svg files are on gitHub https://github.com/gauvins2/mapThemes

Attached is a comparison of the stock Hike/Bike theme (left) and the hcLayers (right).

I tried the beta (from the Android 11 folder) on my Android 9 phone.  (That part made me nervous.)

  • On startup, it said, "Working directories ... have been changed ..." (this is a SCARY message), and gave only one option: Internal storage.  Only one?

  • Checked About.  The "duplicate" message is gone, simply /sdcard/Locus.

  • Went to "Set working directory".  Now it showed two options:  Internal storage and private folder in internal memory.  I double-checked the backup, crossed my fingers, and changed it to private folder, clicked Move.

  • After a few minutes, Locus restarted.  I needed to re-select my preferred map and theme, odd, otherwise, all seems well.

  • In an external file manager, I see /sdcard/Locus is almost empty, except for mapsOnline containing 3 sqlitedb files for the hike-and-bike map that showed briefly after restart

  • NOW the About once again shows "duplicate folder", see attached.

There is currently no slowdown because you still use the old system. But since 1. 11., I'm unable to publish the new version on Google Play with this system.

"Orange" shaping points > thanks, I've noticed this too and forgot to fix it ...

Unhelpful track stats - I don't have a heart rate or cadence sensor. Display N/A (Not Available) or better, don't display if N/A or even better, allow configuration.

@WujTom
some modifications of track screen are promised from me, I just can't promise when this happens  :-[

@T-mo
thanks for the video. I can hardly anything do with it, but I'll try to look at it ...

@luce
good point, thanks, I'll look at it!

@tapio, @balloni55
interesting, I did not notice anything un-usual. Anyway give please a try to just newly generated version MapGooglePlay_4.4.3.12_1044_beta. Thanks.

In the route details. Can I move the "hide" button to the bottom bar?

So many ideas because of three tiny colored dots  :)

@tapio
the issue with a refresh of the track: thanks TODO

With a dual centering button, rotate icon should really be visible, it is intent. With this solution, you may simply disable rotation without affecting centration.

If "dual-mode" needs an extra rotation button was discussed a half year ago a lot and yes, it needs  :).
Good sample: center, start rotating, move with the map - now disable rotation in case you do not have this "rotate" button.

@balloni55
ah, dot attached to centering button in case, rotation is disabled and dual-centering button is enabled, is a bug, thanks

@luce
ah, the clickable area behind ... not so simple task => is this really needed? I'm more thinking about and option to put these buttons into function panels - but this also is not so simple task  :-\

Rotation mode
I also think that icons should not be so obtrusive. Some small "A", "M", symbols should be enough. I'm waiting on our graphic.

But, the indicator is needed from my point of view. If the map rotates by the GPS, it may not be clear that rotation is enabled. Also if you start rotation of the map manually, it may not be clear that the map won't rotate by sensor anymore.

@Žajdlík Josef
thanks, as I wrote to @balloni55, the dot attached directly to the big centering button is a bug, thanks!

New Beta 4.4.3.2 version is finally out.
Mostly minor bug-fixing and a few interesting stuff in better support for URL links generated to our web portal.

Have a nice weekend!

@Žajdlík Josef
understand but do not agree. A list of options is created based on "point" or generic "share", so this option is not the only difference.

Super, Vielen Dank

Aktuelle Messwerte, aktuelle Aufnahme."

Gruss aus Luxemburg
Pir
