Maps / Re: New vector maps for Locus - feedback

Quote from: Tapio on December 12, 2023, 18:31:57Reasonable suggestions. I just recently decided not to include residential streets into ZL12, but am still a bit undecided. Tertiary (and bigger) I agree. I start tertiary also in 11.

I saw your change to not show residential at z12 and liked it, I'm trying it out in my theme too, but did it slightly differently, at z12 I'm drawing the residential roads below the landuse=residential. This way any residential roads that exit a town/village and join another highway or on areas with no landuse set they are still visible/connected. Also I have an option to not fill landuse=residential and the the residential roads are still there. At z13 upwards I still draw them over the filled areas.

Quote from: Tapio on December 02, 2023, 08:06:36I will look at it. What I instantly see is, Karl draws two lines, left and right from roads
@Tapio - no, it's more complex for this bridge. Those are two completely separate/ individually mapped cycleways/ footpaths on each side of the bridge. Yes OSM has the provision/ shortcut for showing footpaths alongside a road, but this bridge is not mapped in OSM like that.

the URL I used in a previous post wasn't very helpful, try
north side https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/1136907812
south side https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/177421221

clever idea

Hi Everyone,

Finally the wait is over. After 2.75 years to I have finally completed the update to the OS Map theme.

Please check the main OS Map theme sticky post for more details.

Quote from: Tapio on November 25, 2023, 13:41:01Thanks. Route planner route still leaking into main screen btw.
same here, no change, ~8s from exit route planner until the planned route is removed from map

@menion - this new Aspect map shading is quite interesting but could it be further enhanced with color saturation proportional to the slope? i.e. a very pale color would suggest a flatter area, and very strong color (like the current) suggest steeper areas. This would then combine the best attributes of existing Slope shading. At present even quite flat areas have strong color, perhaps too strong, and maybe defeats the purpose.

Hi guys, the new version brings a lot of interesting changes and even more on the background. I have to thanks a lot for tests most of you made during last weeks. It really helped a lot!!

Version 4.20.0 was uploaded to the Google Play, but was rejected because of some missing info in subscription screen. It will take some time to fix it, so I've at least uploaded APK to the public Google Drive directory. If anyone wants to test and use this version, feel free to do it.

Have a nice weekend!

@tapio on a recent cycle tour through Cyprus I notice your theme is not working properly at a high zoom level in the Cyprus republic capital of Nicosia when using Open Andro Map. You can observe the map with your theme has details within a triangle that are correct, then outside that triangle only POI are displayed. Quite strange. OS Map and LM City themes (also Voluntary although not attached) are all working correctly, so 95% sure it is theme related. I have not seen this with other map areas, and I mostly use your theme by default.

NeigungsWINKEL halte ich auch für problematisch.

scheint auf deutsch im Fachjargon mit 'Exposition' beschrieben zu werden:

as @Menion mentioned we've already created some improvements in the official MapsForge render and adopted "cubic" or text and symbol orientation.
I also like the scale-font or scale-symbol directives but I think it doesn't fit the conception of theme when only the "rule" should specify the appearance of a particular element.

bg-rect-* are also a little bit strange and were created especially for our use-cases. Anyway, I've already thought about adopting of the "Shield" system used by Mapnik https://github.com/mapnik/mapnik/wiki/ShieldSymbolizer
It's basically a combination of image and text - especially used for highway number shields.

Locus Map / Re: [APP] - version 4.19.+ ( 9/2023 )

Hi guys,

I have a feeling, that I do not spend enough time here on the forum. Sorry if you feel the same. The tasks I did last weeks took too much time to me and colleagues  :-X

Anyway, here we go!

It is partially funny, that the last posts are focused on the customization of profiles. Well ...

New Beta version 4.19.0.7

Major changes

- internal offline LoRouter and online LoRouter are fully united. So they use the identical system. All customizations, systems for warnings, profiles, etc., all are identical!

- with this, I've made completely!! new system of how routing profiles are selected and also customized. Because the old system was a little "hacky", the new was rebuilt from scratch. This also means (and I've tried to keep old data), that you will have to setup custom profiles again, sorry.

- The second major (mainly on the background) change, a few weeks of work and testing, is a united and simplified system of how the app starts and destroys. Together with it, we have recreated the start screen and made it a little "nicer". The main reason was that it was quite a mess inside of the app over all these years and I had to have a single place of truth where all happens.

Both main changes are very complex and I also expect that some problems may arise. That's why I kept old Beta version on the Google Drive, so it may be easy to revert to the older version in case of serious problems.

So shortly: kudos to the brave and test at your own risk  ;)!

Locus Map / Re: [APP] - version 4.19.+ ( 9/2023 )
November 06, 2023, 11:07:12
Little weird observation in my recent holidays:
I split a track A into A1 and A2. Then both tracks had the same creation date/time (I think we discussed this a while ago, before that both parts got the current DT as new creation dates). Now when I sort the folder by "Created", it shows
  • A1
  • A2
- correct!

But when I reverse sorting, it still shows
  • A1
  • A2
- not really correct, as the second part of the original track is surely after the first part and thus should be shown before in the reversed list.
I assume, as both tracks have exactly the same created date/time, Locus then reverts to alphabetic sorting as "tie-breaker", which keeps A1 before A2.

Proposal:
As we agree that it's not helpful to set the Created DT of split tracks to the current DT, why not set the DT of the second part to its first trackpoint?

Hi Tapio.
I noticed that in your theme "man_made: watermill" shows the icons when tagged accompanied by "building:yes" but you don't see the icons when edited as a "man_made:watermill" node.

Best regards
