Hmm, indeed ... question to AI reveals that it really is not as simple as I thought. Uff ...

As of my last update in April 2023, whether the private directory (like `Android/data/menion.android.locus`) of an Android app is automatically transferred to a new device when using the built-in copy/transfer functionality in Android depends on several factors:

1. **App's Backup Configuration**: Android apps can specify what data gets backed up and what doesn't through the Android backup service. If the app's developer has configured the app to exclude certain data or directories from backup, that data won't be included in the transfer.

2. **Type of Transfer Method**: Different transfer methods (such as Google's backup service, manufacturer-specific transfer tools, or using an external backup and restore application) have varying capabilities regarding what data they can transfer. Some methods may only transfer app APKs and some basic data, while others might transfer more extensive app data.

3. **Android Version and Device Manufacturer**: The specific features and limitations of the transfer process can vary depending on the Android version and the device manufacturer. Some manufacturers might offer more comprehensive data transfer tools than others.

4. **User Permissions and Settings**: The user's backup and transfer settings also play a role. For example, if a user has opted out of certain types of data backup, those data won't be transferred.

5. **Data Stored in `Android/data` Directory**: Typically, the data stored in the `Android/data` directory of an app is considered app-private data. This data is not usually included in automatic backups to Google Drive (unless the app developer has explicitly implemented backup logic for it). Therefore, it's less likely that this data will be transferred automatically to a new device.

### Recommendations:

- **Manual Backup**: If you have important data in an app's private directory, it's a good practice to check if the app provides a way to manually back up data (like an export feature) and use that to transfer your data.
- **App-Specific Instructions**: Refer to the app's documentation or contact the developer for specific instructions on backing up and transferring data.
- **Test Transfer**: If possible, before switching to a new device, you might want to test the transfer process with a secondary device to see if all necessary app data is carried over.

In summary, while some app data is transferred automatically when switching Android devices, the `Android/data` directory's contents may not be included, depending on the factors mentioned above.

excellent/ perfect - all & none ;-) great example showing how previously the bike parking POI were hidden in the "map clutter" and now clearly evident with all theme settings turned off!!

iOS does not slow down the Android version, fortunately. We are still (only) two guys on the whole Android world and own 3D maps is not in our possibilities. iOS version will use MapLibre library for maps, so there is a huge chance, it will have 3D maps quite easily (at least compared to Android).

Guys, I am interested if the "Install latest" in my signature works for you. There's some url forwarding going on and for me it did not consistently work, Locus reported a connect error.
Worked like a charm, see screenshot below. I am using LM4-AFA and checked date of zip and included Tapiola.xml, it's 1 3.9.
Thanks, currently my favourite theme due to chosen colours and also very functional.
(always have to edit my posts afterwards to add pictures)

@tapio - I've created a simple theme so that temporary LoPoints are more visible, and background "clutter" is avoided. Gee - I didn't realize how complicated these themes are. How are they modified? Some special theme editor? It is so tedious & error prone using a plain text editor.

that's a shame (weird) isn't it - the one time I want to find bike parking in a bike-friendly GPS app, and I luck out ;-( Thanks for trying.

@tapio - suggestion - given your theme is for cyclists, optionally display bike parking as POI? Attached is map around OSM node https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/6804728475. Maybe I have missed a theme setting? Online LM route planner correctly displays the bike park @ https://web.locusmap.app/en/?lat=-42.883736&lng=147.333798&z=19&map=hikeBike (although it is tiny, nearly invisible), as does online bikerouter @ https://brouter.m11n.de/#map=19/-42.88322/147.33309/standard.

Latest update removes a workaround that is unnecessary with the latest maps. This now gives a better display if a bike or hike route runs along a major road.

Quote from: Sonny on December 29, 2023, 09:48:18=> Das ist derzeit das Optimum.

Danke.

Hello everyone,

I have made a thoroughly updated version of Bernard's OutdoorV4 theme, which has been renamed "Hike, Ride & Sight!"

The aim was to add almost all the tags available in OpenAndroMaps maps, especially those related to hiking and MTB, while keeping the map as easy to read as possible. I also fixed a lot of minor problems with the original theme.

I decided not to have theme variations (bike, hike...), which I find impractical, but to have a long list of layers that can be switched individually to focus on your exact needs and keep the map uncluttered.

The hard part was creating a map legend, and I found that plain HTML+SVG was the way to go to keep the legend maintainable.

I hope it will be useful to others; let me know if you find any problems!

Jérôme

Locus Map / Re: [APP] - version 4.20.+ ( 11/2023 )
December 29, 2023, 19:52:24
Thanks for the link. 141MB of GPX files ... quite a lot. I expected that the app could handle it, but it ended with an out-of-memory error. Something, that should be solved on the app side, but it requires quite a lot of debugging.
So problem is registered to the "Problem to solve later" category. Thanks for understanding.

Extra DB, please no. You can't convince me because this should be solved by the already planned feature I've mentioned above.
