Hi menion,

could it be that there is a regression error in 3.4.0? I think the problem with the incomplete track preview had been solved some time ago.

Anyway I really do not agree/do not want to store big overview in database. I mainly do not see any reason for this.

For me having to wait half a minute to see track information it would be a reason ;-)

Probably not putting them into tracks.db but a new db? With my device resolution the 320x130 bitmap would be 13kB as compressed png per track. I promise, this is the last post to try to convince you ;-)

@MichaelZ: it's more complicated with this big overview. Anyway do you use same map in both versions when you tap on track?

No, I didn't use the same map. When opening the track list I even was in a complete different area on the Pro version. So I understand that the map preview is always freshly rendered using the last displayed map.

I opened the track info page after viewing different maps of the area and here is the result:

The first is OSM vector map, the other are raster maps in SQLite, not always covering all of the area of the track. It would be nice to have a solution that stores a feasible preview map in the database.

The thumbnail in the track list seems to be always rendered from the OSM World map? By the way, the default thumbnail is so much better now than the question mark.

Hi Menion,
in version 3.3.1  I noticed a difference between Free and Pro version (I know that there are planned differences, of course, but this could be a flaw).
In 3.3.1 Free the track information page shows a map preview with 33000 points correctly:

In 3.3.1 Pro the track Information only shows the track preview:

It takes a very very long time on my device to load the track information page: 30 seconds (Free version is 4 seconds faster...). The thumbnails on the track folder list load very fast. Because of Menions warning to save the database when this feature was introduced, I guess they are stored in it. Wouldn't it make sense to also store the track preview in the database? In case the preview is dependend on device resolution it could be recreated when a new resolution is detected.

The new track overview is a nice idea, you have some important information at a glance. But I am not sure if the question mark is a good choice when no map is shown.
Same opinion as eldron's. I have suggestions as replacement (royalty free from clker.com):

I was going one step further and had a look at the track on the 'real' map and not the overview on the track information screen. After having a look at details of the track on the map I would want to go on with details of the next track. And I think it is not a simple task for GUI design and logic to come back to the track list in the last selected folder.

Edit:
After posting above I just noticed looking through the listing of new messages that there was a similar question in the German forum area:

@Michael: hmm and is really a problem that track is hidden behind semitransparent green strip?

No, not a real problem, of course. But on the first track I opened, the target area was not easy to recognize and the city Name not really readable. So I immediately had the feeling that there is something wrong.
Of course your approach saves space and I only have a small Display. Probably you could increse the transpareny a little?

about tapping - you want the same as when you click on 'back' button or top left 'home' button in action bar right? So why don't use any of these two options? :)

Hmmhhh. When I tap the back button (the one on the device) I'm asked if I want to close Locus.
The action bar is the one at the bottom? There I don't have 'home', but from left Moving Map, Orientation of Map, Zoom In and Out, Lock. Is device Resolution to low for further button(s)?

2) do you mean hidden behind the green bottom strip with track name?

Yep, that's what I meant.

edit
I forgot to mention one thing this morning. I have absolutely no idea if and how the following could be realised, but usually menion has it.

When I click in the track list on the track thumbnail preview and open the track details and then click on the track preview the track is shown on the big map. Would it be somehow possible to go back to the track list to view a next track without going through Options - Data - Tracks - Folder?

The new track screen is great !!! It is worth a new subversion number...

Though I have three remarks.
a) On the track list the preview is not seen before the track has been opened. Would it be possible to create it in the background? I know that Android is quite poor in multitasking (multithreading probably not possible?) but probably it could be done.
b) When the track has been opened the track preview is partially hidden. Is my low resolution device the problem?
c) When the track has been opened one track preview doesn't have a map underlay

Even on a low-low-performance device (Samsung Gio) the track preview works smooth.

Hello, I think there is a bug in Locus 3.02 Dashboard. I created a Dashboard that shall display the course. The problem is that the value is always zero. The dashboard feature is why I bought the Pro version and now I can't use it  :-\
