Took the latest test version for a Geocache test run. It worked a treat, the button layout on caches is great for my thick fingers. Apart from the problems mentioned by others in the thread (which did not really bother me, as I updated Pro DB with what I wanted, and the Function UI is cosmetic), everything worked fine. Hopefully you will retain this UI for the next Pro release.
Wish the caching had been as good, to many DNF's [:)], but no software change is going to improve that

Just downloaded the Test version 2.19.1.3, mainly to look at the changes to the points screen. And may I say I am impressed. I like that on selecting a Cache you get all the relevant info in one scrollable screen without making a further selection. Also the Hint and Field Note/Note are at the top of the screen, to me is a better layout. I'll be going out tomorrow to give it a field test.
Keep up the good work

and last one: moving from Free to Pro or opposite is quite easy. Just do backup of settings in Backup manager. That's all. So I don't see reason why use Locus Free (testing), just in case you want to test some new feature

Proper testing cannot be done by running an app just for a minute to "try a new feature". Sorry... but thats nonsense. People should use testing versions extensively and constantly and "in real world situations", everything else is mostly pointless.

And the problem is not moving settings around between free & pro, thats just a minor inconvenience. The problem is THE REST OF THE SYSTEM that is connected to Locus. Every single tasker rule, every file manager that opens gpx/kml, every web browser, everything that sends intents or something... and godknowswhat. This all develops into a HORRIBLE MESS when you have two Locuses in parallel and are forced to switch constantly.

Two Locuses in parallel are a major PITA unless you run a very simplistic setup and do not interface much with other software. But I guess you will never understand this... because you do not actually USE Locus, you only DEVELOP it :-).

Wow :o
I tend to agree with Menion on this. I don't want to mess up my working version of Locus Pro to find myself in the middle of Dartmoor with a test version that doesn't quite work (which has happened). In that case I switched back to Pro and was on my way again.
These are TEST versions and should be treated as such.

Agree with prawns.
Settings - Display - select Full Screen
Settings - Map - control & panels -  select top panel hiding/bottom panel hiding & set Right panel visibility to hide when inactive.

That's just as good as immersive mode on my Nexus 7 with KitKat.

Why add something extra in the programme? Less headaches for Menion

Cheers Menion ,that worked a treat. As always great support.

Thanks menion.
I overwrote the files in my Locus folder with those in the zip file, rebooted my phone and tried again. The problem is still there.
It's not a big problem for me at the moment, as I don't think I will be out on the moors for at least another week or two. I'll wait for the next version.

Having not used Locus for a while (Due to work commitments and illness) I wanted to get rid of a TB I've had for too long. I had updated Locus last night to 2.17.2.  When I arrived at the cache site and tried to log the find. On pressing the Field note button the screen hung for 10-15 seconds then I got a window stating "Unfortunately, Locus Pro has stopped", and on pressing OK the app started again.
As I am one of the many Samsung Galaxy S3 users who had installed the 4.3 update before Samsung pulled it due to the numerous errors. I installed Locus Pro 2.17.2 onto my Nexus 7 when I got home, but I am still getting the same error on it.

Quote from: "menion"It also do not matter if you have enabled auto-loading. World vector map should not be visible in list of vector maps! and is used automatically. So in all cases, it's used for levels 1 - 8

Sorry should have read this first. Now I understand

As I had a major failure in my HTC One V yesterday, I had to revert to my Desire C. I wanted to give it a geocaching test, so to kill 2 birds with one stone I loaded the test version to try on the trip.
The Proximity Sensor works a treat once I realised it had to be switched on in "Settings - Global". There were a few spurious switching, but I put that down to going from full sun into wooded shade.
I too, like tommi initially put the World map directly into the Locus/mapsVector , but since returning home have deleted them and copied over the full _world folder. Now they are unavailable in the Free version but are visible in the Pro, exactly as jusc posted.

Lastly I tried to log on to GC Live, having first checked that my nick on geocaching.com was entered , all I get is a red box with Unexpected problem - please contact me with a description of your problem..

edit
One thing I forgot to mention on the World map. Either the sea level has risen drastically or the map is wrong, approx 3 miles of the South Devon coast has disappeared under water. Maybe I should have built that Ark when we had floods last year. :D

Thanks for that, it stops me doing my next step. Uninstalling Locus Pro.
Look forward to the next version.

I have just given it a try with Bluetooth and Internal GPS, ensuring I had a good fix before trying. In both cases the Wrong INTENT box appears. With internal GPS a box appears saying "Aquiring location from GPS" and defaults to my present location. With Bluetooth I get Screen 3 as per my last post.

From the actions in my last post Screen 3 appears.
Sorry its in 2 parts the forum would only allow me to attach 2 files.

I hope you understand this.
Long press on the map screen brings up Screen 1. I tap on the address box and screen 2 appears.
Tap on A (Gears Icon) and from the sub menu I select B Nearest caches.

Thanks for the reply, I have installed 2.12.2.8 and the latest locus pro onto my Nexus 7  to see if it makes a difference. I have also installed Geocaching4Locus .
With  Location access switched off, which is my normal mode, as I use a Bluetooth GPS.

In the pro version everything works as I would normally expect it.

In the Test version when I press "Nearest cache"  I get a black box at the bottom of the screen with "Wrong INTENT - no point!" this disappears and the Geocaching4Locus box appears with a further box over it with
       "No location service allowed"
Please allow Wireless or GPS location service in "Settings"
With a Settings and OK buttons underneath.
No matter what I press the Coords are still incorrect.

EDIT:-
I have just installed 2.12.2.9 on my HTC phone and indeed the "Wrong INTENT - no point!" appears on it, it disappears so quickly I did not notice it before. If I press the back button and manually input the coords it works as expected.

Yesterday I went out geocaching for 7hrs using test version 2.12.2.8. Apart from little system setting changes I had forgot to make I had no problems with the Prog.
But this afternoon I decided to use it at home to plan next weekends trip and done what I would normally do in the Pro version to get the caches in the area I'm going.
1. With the GPS off and WiFi on long press on the screen to load Map Centre.
2. Select the address and then the Function button (Bottom Right).
3. Select Nearest caches and then the Geocaching4Locus  screen appears, where I can download the caches and import them.

The difference with the test  and  pro is as the G4L screen appears another screen appears briefly  saying " Acquiring address from wireless network" and the coordinates default to as near as wireless can get to my home location, (which is 50 miles from where I want)
I have tried it with Pro and it defaults to the selected address coords.

Is this to do with the warning in your first post.
Warning: this version move settings for "Live tracking", "Quick add point", "WMS maps" to different directory!! Do not use this version if you also want to use current public version of Locus with these features!

If so just ignore this post, and I apologize in advance.
