hi to all, looks I'll have to release new version soon, because number of news seems to be too long for market 400 chars limit ...

- map auto-load (check advanced map settings)
- improved sorting and filtering of POI's and tracks (mainly geocaches - need reimport)
- rewrote dialog for Vector map downloading. Expect next improvements together with new maps at start of October
- ability to manually recompute path
- added support for www.gobreadcrumbs.com tracks upload
- restored SHOCart online maps
- improved Quick map switch dialog
- ability to display 161m/528ft circles around geocaches
- supported GEMF maps format
- many small improvements

anyway I just wanted to discuss a little bit ...
- today morning I discovered nice web gobreadcrumbs, so i added support for uploading track to Locus. Do you know this web? Looks good on first sight so hope you'll find it useful
- yesterday I was creating support form GEMF map format. It's very simple map format (read-only), that have just stored map tiles in simple way, but have main advantage. Because it's so simple it's very fast. Much faster then SQLite and also TAR maps. Here is complete specification https://sites.google.com/site/abudden/android-map-store . On the bottom of page are python scripts to covert some data into this format. If anyone skilled with pythod, create script that allow convert SQLite maps into this, it should be very welcome I think. Why? higher speed and unlimited! map size. Higher speed also mean smaller battery consumption!

- also one news. I discovered that on map source I use for vector maps, is missing a lot of places. I have now another source and also I'm trying, and seems it will work, generate own maps from clear openStreetMaps data, so wait till start of october (till new maps will be on server) and then we should discuss if some areas should be better connected into one file, some separated .. etc ... nice day ;)
and release? I hope tomorrow ...

Troubles & Questions / Re: Cell-ID locations
September 14, 2011, 13:37:50
hmm this is not needed I think. Disable GPS in Locus and enabled wireless in system. When you then press centering button in Locus, it will center you to last know location (last location system received from whatever source) and centering will then be disabled. So if you don't have enabled GPS in Locus, you can still use centering function in this simple way ;)

Troubles & Questions / Re: Personal WP from cgeo
September 13, 2011, 19:15:33
wait with some c:geo checking ... I'm currently communicating with one guy who works on c:geo and he's implementing Locus API into c:geo, so if it will work, it will be connected very tight and will be possible to send (or even import) whole caches with all data into locus ...

don't understand ... may you provide step by step how to get to this point you write about? Anyway I expect that this text should be defined in c:geo itself, but we should try to test first

Other features / Re: CloudMade "navigation"
September 13, 2011, 17:32:21
stebu .. it's here mentioned problem http://developers.cloudmade.com/issues/show/973 ... you may vote there to increase attention ;)

about "straight ahead" ... sounds funny :). i don't think it have something to do with speed of your phone. Do you have same issue on every track?

VWhite ... nice idea. I added "Copy to" function under POI menu, so you may copy POI from one directory to second

EDIT ... about 2 hours later ... so manual recompute added also. Now probably also some automatic recompute right? Hmm firstly we should test this manual one, and if all will works fine, I'll create probably new settings category (navigation) with first item "Automatic recompute". I'm just worried about one thing. When you ride and press recompute, I send current! location, but time needed between sending data and refreshing navigation, should be, depend on track length and internet connection speed, few seconds, so after that you'll be far away. Also their system do not support recompute in some direction, so it's possible that instead of direction forward, you'll receive track in opposite direction ... hope you understand me :). So with CloudMade system, I cannot create perfect navigation in Locus because their system do not allow this ... damn

Other features / Re: User Interface
September 13, 2011, 16:26:05
heh, I'm searching for one topic and discovered this one :) ...

windows shareware you say? Are you kidding? :). There is many many many opinion on design of Locus, and to be true, I don't care a lot about them. Anyway ...

nonstandard menu button
 - I don't like bottom android menu. Few versions before, I wanted to remove it completely but we discovered current method (can be displayed by bottom menu button or top left logo) which is fine for me

 - strange shadows ... yes, cute right?

 - close control ... did you worked for a while with this? For me, it's one of best features ... much faster then going with finger and searching for back ...

I'd personally don't change it! Enjoy

hmm this is weird, if you have "Use wireless networks" enabled and "Use GPS satellites" disabled, Locus GPS on/off should work correctly
