Troubles & Questions / Re: How does routing work?
October 29, 2011, 18:04:46
fine, anyway CloudMade is missing some important data for Route planning on road, like exits etc. So from my experience, MapQuest is good for car, CloudMade for bike and walk ...

Troubles & Questions / Re: How does routing work?

I cannot use google routing, it have to be used only on google maps as I read. Which service compute routing is set in settings. So if you use MapQuest and it compute route around a forest, then try CloudMade. It just have nothing to do with Locus, but it's a problem of used web service. It have no effect if you use vector maps or any other

yes it is. And worst on it is that i have no response from anyone from OSM community who have influence on blocking or unblocking of Locus. Fortunately new six-core server with unlimited bandwidth is finally on-line so I'm with my friend starting installing own OSM server that will serve only to Locus. Today I'll release new version with reduction to downloading from 25000 per day to 10000 per day. Sorry for that but here isn't any other possibility. Fortunately vector maps are nice extension and are quite good working and I also hope that new server will be also compensation for this ...

thank you durian, perfect. Seems that disabling downloading OSM maps helped a lot. Perfect!

Troubles & Questions / Re: Secure WMS service
October 29, 2011, 13:50:18
ok, thanks. If this will not be possible, I'll try to implement it without my testing, and you'll try by yourself ...

Various & Bin / Re: Locus priority.
October 29, 2011, 10:16:16
Hi Robin,
this is not so easy and also so standard way ... to keep process in foreground (so to keep running as much as possible), there is need for special service that will try to keep process alive. System kill Locus everytime for you? Did system kill it also when you have just use as low memory as possible (so no points and tracks on map, no extra running process, just simple map) ?

hmm, fine ... here is testing version for anyone (kerenoc?) who wants to test SpoilerSync data ...

put extracted directory to Locus/data/geocaching directory (or one subdirectory like Locus/data/geocaching/dataToday). If you then press on geocache on map and show main cache screen, Locus will try to find GCCODExxx.html file, and if will be success, new "Spoilers" tab will appear

let me know, what else is "needed"
#11064
no, because I don't use or support google maps in locus

can you generate for me some sample that I can use for testing please? I never used this tool so some help will be welcome

EDIT: Hmm I have just read whole discussion at this topic and it's more then half year back when we talked about it. Since then, nothing changed in Groundspeak and GPX format, so seems that spoilerSync will be current most TODO feature .. ok, so let's do something with this. If you can generate for me some sample and send me some exported directory together with GPX file containing cache data, it will be more then welcome

hmm this is not yet possible. Nice idea anyway. Do you have some working sample with ability to offer me some testing limited credentials for test?

Implemented / Re: Irish Grid projection.
October 28, 2011, 13:25:32
perfect. Seems as mapc2mapc is my savior :)

Thank you for info, I'll look at it during next week
#11068
no news here, I'll have to start to do something with it soon, anyway as I remember correctly, here already was discussion about using SpilerSync and as I know, something with this should already work isn't it? If not, then why not? :) SpoilerSync only do some directory structure that contain images for caches right?

Hi Sputnik,
what are main differences? For me it seems same as OSGB36 except modified datum parameters (modified Airy datum), are there more diffs? Have to check ..
also I'm just curious how are you converting maps to locus? I know that one of main problems is not well wrote support for various projections. So there is need to convert maps to supported (usually SQLite) maps.

hi, fine ...
I'm not an driver and also I don't use car (and also not bike during winter), so some suggestions are more then welcome ;)
