Implemented / Re: Move Map To OSGB Map Reference
« on: April 18, 2011, 13:50:28 »
Hi Steve and other english users,
  so what about support for OSGB36 coordinates. May you give me some more info? Mainly in which format do you want to use OSGB coordinates? Best should be for me some sample like ... I want to set these coordinates (in OSGB) and get these (in WGS) ...

Troubles & Questions / Re: AndroidPit-Licensing unreliable

hmm that's bad. Buergi wrote that all works fine. What should I do with this. Looks I'll have to write on support of AndroidPit

Implemented / Re: color of track according to speed/altitude
« on: April 18, 2011, 12:29:52 »
hmm as I thought. Colorization over all track with some gradient isn't possible in android api. Only solution as I discovered and looks that My trails also, is to cut track to single parts and set and draw gradient for every single part.

this have few main disadvanteges

1. more memory required. For every two points (one part) is needed new object that store these values and also two color values (integers) to hold gradient on start and end of this path (between two points)
2. track looks then similar to track on screenshots from My Trails. So it's not connected and slight track but just single lines that not connect perfectly in the ends

So this actually leads to not well looking and more memory required solution. If any developer have any other solution, it will be very welcome. But this one, I think, doesn't worth it. I really like to see too, colorized tracks, but it actually isn't possible in simple way as I see ...

PS: or anyone use My Trails and tracks looks nice, are fast and fluent? If so, I can go through their code on google code and search there a little ..

Under review / Re: Export to Everytrail

I'll look at it guys. I have also one idea. If here is some android developer, or anyone who want to start or have a little experience, he should create addon for locus with this functionality. I can be simply done. Just create application that will catch some calling from locus with exact data to send to some web server. Same situation opposite. User run addon, select track he want import to locus, addon download tracks and send them to locus. Pretty simple. Main part is communication with web server. So if anyone want to do something like this, this should be more then welcome, so I can invest time to another part of developing ...

hmm another web service ... http://www.runningfreeonline.com/Splash

hi guys. I added compass button back on gps screen finally. After long thinking, it seems best solution for me. After click, small toast dialog show for a while with same text as in settings, so everyone will see what it do. I'll release testing version during next few days, so you can test it. You'll see (if you do know this solution from older version), if this fits your needs ...

I also agree. Osm maps are cached, but are regenerated once a time I think (maybe once per 7 days?) ..

Terms of use for google maps say: Use our maps. They are free for you, but you can use them only through our API on website. There is no chance to use them outside web site. I wrote question on google here so anyone can refresh my question to give it more priority. Also downloading of OSM maps is allowed but only two threads at one time, no more. Also reduction of mass download is suggested.

isn't here anyone experienced with law? I need to know what I can do as legal and what I can't.

For example, when I add on bottom of online map screen button "+", after click I show list of online maps and user then can click on map and add it to list. Before adding I'll just show terms of use of selected map providers and thats all. Is this wrong and also illegal? I'm lost in all this stuff. I'm just thinking how to make it easier to users add own maps. Actual method isn't much easy for basic users ...

hi marshors. May you give me some additional info? Like what is your map source etc. Best should be if you can send me your map by some service (rapidshare, etc.)

Troubles & Questions / Re: Maps are not loading "unknown problem"
« on: April 16, 2011, 14:40:06 »
Hi Xavier, this is really weird. All online maps have same issue? May you give me some specific location like coordinates x, y, map OSM classic and zoom z? I have to check it because I have no similar troubles.

Troubles & Questions / Track evelation stats
« on: April 16, 2011, 14:11:52 »
Hi to all,
 I received today email from Martin with question about track stats. So I want to discuss about it a little.

Main question is - are elevation values correct?

Martin wrote that all stats are cca twice as big as should be. To be true, I do not tested well this feature so everything is possible here. Anyway how I get stats about elevation etc ...

- for every added point I compute elevation gain (of course not for first point in track segment)
so when new point is added, I compute distance from previous point and elevation change. From those values I compute declivity as

declivity = delta_elevation / delta_distance;

and then I sum all values by this simple method. Whole code for my elevation handling is below. Distance and elevation values are in metres and these are delta values, so difference between actual and previous point

Code: [Select]
   protected void addElevation(double distance, double elevation) {
    double declivity = elevation / distance;
    if (declivity > 0.025) {
    elePositiveDistance += distance;
    elePositiveHeight += elevation;
    } else if (declivity < -0.025) {
    eleNegativeDistance += distance;
    eleNegativeHeight += elevation;
    } else {
    eleNeutralDistance += distance;
    eleNeutralHeight += elevation;
    }

    eleTotalAbsDistance += distance;
    eleTotalAbsHeight += Math.abs(elevation);
    }

So this mean that is declevity is bigger then 2.5%, I take it as "uphill" movement, opposite as "downhill" movement.

What you think? Are values as you expected? Also second question. Is there any value that you miss in track stats and this value is easy to compute?

Also Martin, may you attach some more description about this "issue" (if there is any). Thanks
