@Žajdlík Josef
sure it will. This is the point > to have the same data on ALL devices and on the web > for this, a single paid account is needed.

@Frivold, @fraben
appreciate it, thanks guys!

@0709
Willy, this is not about GPX format :). We have currently 4 servers for online LoRouter, separate huge servers for LoMaps, for LoPoints and one monster for an online database with backups and some for testing environment. Together with the five developers we currently work on this project (how this happen last year? Hmm) + 4 other people, zipped export cause a probably 0.00001% difference in expenses.

And I repeat it again: nobody will be forced to leave Pro version, so if you do not care about recent change or web stuff, do not use it. I've decided to publish new updates for Locus Map Pro every month together with Locus Map 4, so IT WILL BE correctly updated = fully working.

@Andrew Heard
nope.
- LM Pro never had "inner" Brouter. If you talk about using an external BRouter app from Google Play, it remains possible no matter what version/premium plan you use.
- alternative routes were also not part of the Pro version.

Maybe you used some beta versions where this was enabled? But never in official production.

Family subscription: look, we almost two months computed expected cost on our servers etc. For a very long time we worked with only a single subscription. But it looks that running servers, LoMaps, LoPoints, all these stuff are so expensive, that the price can't be lower to be safe on our side. So increase? Yes it is. On our side, as well, a huge. Because of the price, we decided maybe a month ago, to create also a Silver tier. This is quite a cheap alternative for users without the need for cloud services and also a big risk for us.

The point of this discount is to give users who paid for Locus Map Pro, their money "back". So in the case of Silver it is 10€ back (Silver for one year for Free), in the case of Gold it is 12€ back (50% discount for the first year only).

Diddi, good questions, thanks!

I've improved first post which should now give you all the necessary answers. Your expectation is correct except "deleting Pro & Beta (from Drive)".
a) keep Pro, maybe it will be useful
b) Beta from Google Play simply overwrite Beta from Google Drive. Also, new final versions from Google Play simply overwrite Beta from Google Play. There should not be any problem (I hope).

Hmm good question. And to be true, I'm not 100% sure. Google Play services are currently necessary for push notifications > so for automatic sync between web and devices (this still may be done manually). Anyway, I'm not sure about the license as it is currently bound to the Google system.

To sum this: allow Google-free system was not a priority for V1. Anyway, even more than with the Pro version, we would like to create a system that will be Google independent as soon as possible.

The final phase in creating Locus Map, version 4.

Today/tomorrow will be published a final version of LM4 into the public Beta channel on Google Play of Locus Map (Free) app. All systems are now up and ready.

Because I've not yet decided how Beta versions will be published, for now, this will be a regular public version that requires an active subscription. So no features will be unlocked like it was till now.

Final status
Locus Map Free > will be renamed to Locus Map (version 4+)
Locus Map Pro > name remains for now as is (for a month or two) till we will be 100% sure, LM4 is stable and perfectly working. Then it will be rename to Locus Classic. Version continue in 3.5+ row.

Final prices and comparison of functionality if you are interested: here. Silver tier is close to the current Locus Map Pro, but gives few bonuses, so something like the "Pro+" version.

Pro users
Locus Map 4 = Locus Map Free - so it remains like before, you may have both apps installed at once (Locus Map, Locus Classic). If data are stored in the root of the internal memory, data will be shared without any worry (for now, in September 2021 things starts to be more complicated, thanks to Google)

Pro users anyway receive one year of the Silver for free or Gold with a 50% discount, which both compensate the price of the Pro version.

FAQ

How to use Beta versions
- how to. The text is old but the bottom part with "What to do to become a tester" is perfectly valid.
- latest version wins, so a new regular update will update your Beta version and opposite
- settings, data, subscription, all remain untouched no matter which version you use!

Discount on the purchase as Pro user
- essential is, to use the Pro version logged into Locus Store with the same account you will use in the LM4
- steps: open in Locus Map Pro > menu > Locus Store. Check in the side panel account
- start Locus Map 4 > menu > Locus Store and check, the account is the same
- if you do not see the "Exclusive" offer, immediately send me PM with your email, I'll check it

Hi Willy, I probably do not get all your points.
Anyway:
- your file imports correctly to me. I do not see any problem, not even with the GIF image
- the increasing size of the "Locus/data/import directory > I know, this is terrible behavior  :-[
- improvements in export/re-import > this will have to wait a little more, sorry

@dyoghenes
Why you would like to attach existing points (LoPoints) to track during track recording?

@luce
hmm, an interesting problem with the volume. I'm unable to simulate this issue on own device but found something in the automatic bug-reporting system. Seems you are not allowed to change volume in case, Do-not-disturb mode is enabled in your device. I've improved this method so it should only display some ugly warning, but app should not crash anymore. Give it a try in the next version, thanks!

@john_percy, @michaelbechtold
thanks for the feedback regards the "Overlay" system.

1. interesting idea. Currently, I see main problem that map theme is unique across whole app. So the button in the overlay dialog change also theme for the main map, not just for the overlay.

2. this seems to happen only when picking from "recently used" section right? Fixed, thanks

3. nice, thanks. Fixed

4. blend modes were reduced some time ago. I simply can't remove some of them based on discussion here. It needs some deeper analytics and check which are really not used. So maybe later.

5. good point and exact explanation John! Interesting problem. Technically, when Locus Map decide to set base raster map rescale to 200% (and vector maps remains at 100%), raster map simply can be used at X/100%. If I disable this "100%" option in selector, it may still cause a problems on huge-DPI devices where base rescale for raster maps may be +-300%.

For now, in the dialog will be at least visible base scale parameter for the overlay so it will be easier to see reason why overlay is not visible. I'll anyway think about better "solution".

@joeloc
there is still something wrong with your device. Please double check device settings, there have to be some more optmization settings. Don't you have any other app that do some memory optimizations?
My colleague Jan has S10 with A11 as well, and he does not have any issue with latest app version(s). Anyway as you pointed on topics in Android issue tracker, as well as many many topics on the internet, over-optimized Android devices are causing huge problems, not just to Locus Map. Unfortunately ...

Killing apps together with overcomplicated system internal memory/SD card is making me mad and forcing me to waste weeks of time testing and searching for hacks that may work ...  >:( :o

About heatmap: yes, I'm keeping denying it because I'm unable to simulate any problem. I was playing with your heatmap today during improving of the overlay dialog and now it works fast and without any problems.

I'm not against any improvements in loading of online maps, but only in case, it makes sense. Here, you use some russian server to hack Strava heatmaps. There is no reliability, no certainty that server will work tomorrow and I already received few compains from the map providers that ended with blocked custom user-agent for online maps in latest app version. So sorry, I do not plan any improvements here for now.

@tapio
ah, this is really nice usage of quick bookmarks :)

All existing add-ons should remain working. Locus Map 4 is for them (add-ons) still Locus Map Free, so no problems are expected.

@Raddino
thanks for the report. Exactly this was already reported by @balloni55 some time ago, but unfortunately I'm still unable to simulate this problem on own device ... weird  :-\.

@Rainman2de
this probably happens because imported track does not have any navigation instructions, so app simplify track a little bit and try to generate instructions based on it's shape.

Re-calculation after import: something similar is planned, but it really is not so easy task so it will take some more time. Anyway, my main question: why you import track from Komoot to navigate in Locus Map? Why do not using navigation directly in Komoot or plan your route in Locus Map?

And as @freischneider wrote, this topic is mainly for finalization of new LM4. Thanks for understanding.

@slarti76, @tapio
incorrect description in the changelog, sorry. Simply add a new photo to the point and then long-click on this photo. In the old version it was hidden in the popup menu, but there is not a place for this other than a long-click.

There is also a big difference. Previously, the generated icon was cached in the local cache directory. Now, it is stored directly with the point in the database. So it should be now correctly synchronized and later also visible on the web.

@joeloc
As I see, for time downloading there is already set a 5 minutes timeout! I believe this is really long enough. What about contacting the guy behind this solution?

@luce
- hiding of navigation waypoints. You're not the first who ask for this. I'll consider this option.

- crash: hmm, does it happen also with the new V14 version?

Thanks guys, appreciate your feedback. As I wrote, we decided to keep heads down, and very simply free/silver/gold names will be used. Not a rocket science, but at least clear without any worries.

And Andrew, marketing people? Eh, well, I do not like marketing. You can't even imagine how I curse my work when doing some subscription/promo screens last days/weeks  :D.

Anyway, names of subs tiers finished ... let's rather do some useful tasks ..

Ah, it's locked, sorry.
Yes, we were aware of this alternative explanation of the "plain" word. And it was intended as it should be an alternative name for the "Free" version. Anyway, I was overvoted so plain/hill/mountain won't be used  :'(

I probably fixed this today morning. Locus Map maybe starts instantly, but part of the sync system was already killed, and restoring of this system was done a moment later than another part of the app needed. In the next version it should be ok, thanks!

@balloni55
This is really really weird. I spend on ti maybe two hours playing with various options, found minor issues but nothing like you and Diddi describe. How to simulate it, hmm? May you please try a short video with this issue?

@geoffmozz
hi, welcome!
Web planner lives in a separate topic, so feedback is welcome there!

The latest plan was final release at end of February. But we are changing and finalizing subscription plans five minutes before midnight so as usually > delay. Fortunately, it gives Ondrej (dev behind web planner) and me as well, some more days to fix critical bugs.

New version just upload: MapGooglePlay_4.0.0 - V13_993_beta

Except for (again) very weird errors of @joeloc, all major reported problems should be solved. Thanks all (and specially @balloni55 for logs and @413Michele for the video)

@gcfishguy
Not sure what more you want than what offers the Beta version of web.locusmap.app. There won't be any other website for Locus Map with map etc  :). It has its own topic here, so feel free to ask there if you miss any functionality. Many features are planned for the next versions.

Such huge amount of bug reports and help with developing. I'm permanently amazed  ;). Thanks all!

@balloni55
thanks for the log. I had to change a little bigger part of the code so in case of something unexpected in the next version, please let me know. Hopefully fixed.

Waypoint visibility > ok, let's try the previous, just a little improved (not hiding list) version.

@tapio
oki, thanks. I hoped it is solved as this is quite a complicated problem :/. Will look at it during a week.

@joeloc
Track rec icon > hmm, it is really only a icon & app name. This does not look like working track recording notification (missing correct title & description). Stefan, it is currently quite impossible for me to fix it. I never saw something like this on my devices and you are only one who report something like this. It looks like system tries to restore recording system after any crash? Why notification is only partial = do not know. It probably does not have effect on the battery right (no service really runs)?

Caching of heat maps > don't ask me on the max value. It is another app weak point > cache is unlimited  ::). Hard to say what is wrong. Maybe cache itself is wrong > maps are stored in Locus/mapsOnline, so try to delete database file (cache) of this map.

Quick point/guide > if we talk about quick "Guide to", then "Guide to" option in the side panel does not create a new database point. It do what you want. It anyway has one additonal step > choosing a target (map center) > give it a try and you'll see. It is definitelly more reliable than long click.

@jonny.blue
hmm, I'm playing with it, but unfortunately no problem to catch and report to Arcao (dev of G4L). So probably best to solve it is to directly report this problem to Arcao on G4L web page https://geocaching4locus.eu.

@ADiet
generally blend modes (you have selected "Src Out") cause weird problems on some devices and I still have no idea how to solve this. With blend mode disabled, it works correctly? If so, then there is nothing I can do now.

@luce
re-opening point screen when tapping on the points on the map is currently terrible! I know and I've already tried to solve this > not yet successfully  :-\

Zoom buttons > hmm, quite a UI challenge :). Is this really so useful? Isn't enough to use pinch zoom (or tap, tap and swipe) when zoom is rarely needed? I'll have to be convinced by more people to do this because it may be quite complicated task.
