Locus Map / Re: [APP] - version 4.25.+ ( 8/2024 )
August 18, 2024, 19:54:32
Hi to all.

Format of the time during navigation.
Requested change: https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/35676-display-of-the-driving-time#comment-143889 . Anyone against it?

@Cyklo Miro & @freischneider
believe me or not, the blinking/animated red dot visible during track recording, was one of the major reasons for a bigger battery consumption during recording. Solution? Simple. The animation was removed.

@lor74cas and others
maybe creating a special topic per interesting tasker tasks here? Otherwise, it will be lost in history.

@T-mo
you use really really old profiles (maybe 10+ years?). Btw. what app version are you using?

More precisely, width in Locus Map is used not directly in pixels but in pixels * device DPI. DPI unit is constant which helps making all lines identical in width no matter on which device are you using it.

Ah sorry. Not sure here. Locus Map does not copy photos into the app directory but just keeps only a link to them. So moving photos to the cloud later may cause a problem. Anyway, I really suggest checking it manually to see how this will work on your device.

We plan to change it next year, because what Locus Map sync misses is also the sync of attachments, but it is not 100% clear, how this all will work, yet.

---

Translation
Ah Entschuldigung.

Work in progress. I'm marking it as "Solved" here and we may continue in the Help Desk if there are any more issues.

3 years to solve this? Not bad  ::)

@Tapio
as I wrote, the best is to export the point with the required icon into GPX. There, you will see a correct icon in the "locus:icon" tag. It should look like "file:Markers.zip:Balloon Star Orange.png". Custom icons may be placed only in the "icons" directory, so in the icon name is only the name of the file + png icon itself. Maybe SVG will work as well, I have not tried it yet.

@freischneider
Hmm yes, it probably works like this. Both systems are for now completely independent. Not a big problem right?  :). It also has a benefit > you have visual confirmation on which point you have clicked.

Btw, the new Beta version yesterday. If there won't be any serious complains (for example against the attempt to unite the style of bottom popup menus in point & track detail), I would like to publish new version next week.

And have a nice weekend!

@slarti76
still weird it causes problems, but not sure what I may do with it, sorry.

@Tapio
it is "action_after", not "action-after"  ;)

And icon, give a try to for example "misc-wifi". It works for me well.

Hello Bernhard,

if I'm correct, the power meter reports only a single "power" value + "balance" value, right? So what do you mean by "record Power left/right"? Also, what do you expect that app to do with these values? Currently, power meter values are visible in the chart, and dashboard, recorded to the track, and exported to GPX and FIT. How to deal with left/right? I have no idea.

I do not know ipbike app, but seems it is more focused on sports activities. Locus Map is more focused on the hike/bike so the more precise work with the power values seems to be out of the app's scope.

I've just created it, sorry not to write this. It will be available in the next Beta version.

@Tapio
display of points on the map ... hmm let's try one experiment. Instead of "com.asamm.locus.ACTION_TASK", send "com.asamm.locus.DATA_TASK" action with the following extra

"data" instead of "tasks"

content:

{
  map_point: {
    "name": "Point name",
    "icon": "internal icon name, file:// path or full URL",
    "lon": 14.1456,
    "lat": 50.4564,
    "action_after": "optional, one of CENTER, CENTER_ANIMATE, OPEN_DETAIL"
  }
}

I've not tested it, but it should work :P. ::)

@slarti76
OruxMaps ... funny comment @Tapio  ;D. Unfortunately, I believe there will still be more than slarti ;).

This is a general topic where all sorts of problems and features are discussed. Most of us use only a minority of what Locus Map can do, but -> when it's implemented and it does not work, it should be fixed (or removed for good), even if used only by a single person.

Back to problem > fix with the "map name" was only aesthetic. I'm also testing one Oruxmap and it works without a problem. Do you have this issue with all such maps?

Already 12 :o

pilastr, you may give it a try (Locus Map 4). As an owner of the Locus Classic (old Pro), you get one year of the Silver premium for free! And Silver premium is +- equal to the Classic (https://www.locusmap.app/locus-map-4-vs-locus-map-3-classic/). And later you may have a year Silver Premium for every 869 taken photos to our LoPoints  ;)  (more info)

New Beta version 4.24.3.3 just published.

@Gerhard57
I know, there are (still) some problems with thumbnails. I will need to look at it more precisely later.

@luce
Interesting issue. I see, it crashes in one of our libraries on the place, where we made no changes for some time, where it does not make sense and it does not crash to any other user. Give the new Beta, please. Maybe (I hope) a simple update of the app fix it. Thanks.

Have a nice weekend to all!

I wanted to write 5-year :).

Anyway, the "problem". An explanation is quite simple: app at the start of the tunnel receives the last valid location. And then nothing ... no clear information that GPS was lost. For this, best should to use some timeout together with the accelerometer to detect that you are still moving. But I`ve still not implemented it yet ...

@Graf Geo
it is a little harder for me. Old offline LoPoints were written probably 6-8 years back. New online LoPoints are new but still use some hacky methods. The content of both databases is also not identical. So for me is currently really hard to tell you exactly where the problem is. If this is not a serious problem, offline LoPoints V2 are our big task for the second part of this year and I hope, that it will solve these problems. At least some of them.

Anyway time when online LoPoints are uploaded is not in our control. We use an Android system called "Work manager" and we only define priority and a few parameters and the exact moment is on the Android. Because you are the first who complain on problematic upload time, I also consider this as a minor problem. Thanks for understanding.

@Gerhard57
well, not an easy solution here ...

I`ve published the Beta version on Friday with some minor fixes + one big change in the topBar layout of (almost) all dialogs. Unfortunately, there is a crash when clicking on the listing detail of the geocache, so sorry for this.

One last note. With a 5 year-old kid, I`m a little forced to have more vacations than I would like  8) so please excuse me for the next two months, if I won`t react as usual ;)
