It's on Google PlayStore now. Currently I can enjoy ads (in Locus) 😁
Will there be any technical change when we have the transition from Play Store Beta Channel to stable channel? Technically, a different installation? I ask because I'm lazy, I just wish that it continues to work.
Didn't touch subscriptions yet, do they technically work?

I'm a long time user of Locus, I can say that I was there at very first beginning since locus was still a 0.x version. I did a one-time purchase years ago when Locus Pro came out. I'm a developer myself and I understand the effort that it has been taking to create this version and all the new stuff.
Since I'm using Locus on a daily basis, I'm going to switch over to v4 from day one. And I hope I can support you enough to keep Locus going for many more years to come. Keep up the good work and thank you for this nice app

I don´t need LoMaps, LoPoints or anything of that. 40$ per Year is much to expensive.
I keep on using the version i have bought.
Good luck with your business plan!

Quoterunning servers, LoMaps, LoPoints, all these stuff are so expensive
So go radically for maximum efficiency on transfers.

- Database sync of multiple devices over the internet,? For me personally undesirable.
- Limit data traffic by the web planner. Only export as a compressed file.
- Zipped gpx by extension .gpz like gpx viewer app, no .zip rather meant for unzipper apps.
- Easy link the .gpz extension to Locus app and so avoid unexpected unzipper entries.

Navigation instructions in track points, no need to merge track with navwaypoints.
Allows multiple (colorised) tracks inclusive nearby poi wpt's in a single file.
Mutliple tracks do transfer into the track database. Poi wpt's into points database.
Thereby NOT damaging the navigation.

Regular gpx version: 6,280 bytes bytes. Zipped: 1,324 bytes. Outperforms even .fit

Find 2 alternative tracks this including 2 normal poi waypoints. For actual Locus by zip ;-)

I have been using your app with great pleasure for several years and for a ridiculous price !

The subscription you are asking to pay, for me, is just a thank you for all these years and for those that come, thanks to the result of your wonderful work.

Dear Menion,

behaviour of point screen when one POI is klicked while another one is still active is much better now – thank you.

Best, Lucas

It is now quite sure that Locus Map 4 will be available in three versions - free (similar to the current LM Free version), subscription 1 (with approx the same features as of today's LM Pro) and subscription 2 with the full range of features and services.

After quite a long argument and numerous suggestions, our team has voted for the following triad:

Plain (free version)
Hill (subscription 1)
Mountain (subscription 2)

Before we take it officially, we would like to know the opinion of the native English speaking members of this forum, e.g. @john_percy or @Andrew Heard:

Does this naming make sense? Isn't it weird or funny or whatever that should prompt us to make up something different?

Thanks for your replies.

Well, since you asked...  :-)     Imagine Mapsource, but web-based.  All your data (waypoints, tracks, saved routes, etc) in one spot, in an application where you can keep them organized (folders, groups, tags, whatever) on a 'big screen', and see them on a map, etc.  The data and changes made in the web-based application then sync to your device(s).
--SNIP--
@gcfishguy, you're basically explaining what the new Locus Web Interface does. You seem to have found the page (which is in Beta, mind you), and then you list all the features that are already there or are planned (see the other thread).

So people wonder: What do you want (more)?
Or are you just unhappy that the first version doesn't fulfil all of your dreams?

OpenMaps

Simple modified theme.
Source here: https://openmaps.eu/mapsforgedownload

The resources are the same, but in the process of modification, smartphones with different DPI were used.

for V3 - OpenMaps LE.xml   (dpi=240.. 320)
for V4 - OpenMaps Mapsforge.xml (dpi=480 )

therefore there is a difference in line thickness, font sizes, overall readability, etc.

The legend is here: https://openmaps.eu/renderthemes/maplegend_EN.pdf

Screenshots

The menu also turned out different for V3 and V4

For example, in V3 (OpenMaps LE.xml) , Mary's path is removed, and instead of it - car parking.

The following objects, specific for both OAM and LM, were added:
cutline, grassland, barrier | natural = ditch | gully, safety_rope | ladder | rungs, man_made = adit | adit_disused, minor_line, type = communication ...
Сhanged cliff | earth_bank, embankmen  and many, many other little things that you can no longer remember...

This theme was with me on many trips (more than 2,000 km in the mountains), over the years, during which it was corrected, as needed. Therefore, I had to make it under V4 too ...(Thanks Felipe! Be happy, man, and I started your seed.)

No further plans to improve it, just share it with you :)

I found a bug with navigation in the latest beta: navigating with the map oriented towards north moves the on-screen directions arrow when moving the cursor.

To reproduce:
1. Start navigation, either online or offline (I tested Lorouter offline and Graphhopper)
2. tap the compass to have the map be north-oriented
3. move the map cursor
4. The on-screen direction arrow will replicate the cursor movement for about 1 second, before going back to the right position

The only thing that seems to trigger it is the north orientation of the map, I'll share a screenshot but I need to find a way to remove personal location info first

I really like the behavior of Point Screen. Move map when opening and closing point screen by swiping.

Hello Menion,

in the new Beta the route planner doesn't work anymore.

Kind regards

Surely SQlite will have performance issues above a certain database file size. If the whole /locus/data/database/tracks.db is normally loaded into RAM then there will eventually be an Android file paging/ swap file issue. My tracks.db  is 266MB in size with 3GB internal RAM and I don't experience any performance issues...yet. But clearly there will come a point where the operating system is continually swapping (thrashing) pages between flash & RAM when the ratio becomes too large. I have all my tracks in folders 2021, 2020, 2019... so I'll "archive" some of the older years some time I guess.

I guess coming from a DBase & other database(s) background nearly 40 years ago, I find it a miracle all this stuff works as well as it does. BTW I notice MSDOS DBase still exists - https://dbaseclassic.com - after all this time.
