Caught me, Menion :-) I did not play with this config button, sorry ...

Now those blueish button come. Quick map switch does the same - but takes twice the space now. I do not see the progress here.

"Nearest points" function could be interesting. As it seems, though, as if only visible POIs are displayed. Those I see myself on the map ...
The more interesting ones are those that are hidden. Or you might allow the user to make a choice here.

Latest Beta is a mess!

Quick map switch before: One click on the screen and you select
Now: click the blue icon. Oh, what's that ? There is no map select, not even a choice to get there, but a list of themes (because that is what I did last time here). OK, we go back, then select Quick Map Switch
Imagine what happens when you want to switch Map themes now: same mess, the other way round !

PLEASE stop academic over-engineering, i.e. avoid confusing and diverting users.
Every Locus version from the last year is better re. UI than what is happening now.

So those tick-boxes control what is visible, directly on the map screen, right ?
That would address my concerns indeed :-)

This slide panel only annoys - you need more clicks for the same thing. Same with the search, BTW, as discussed in other thread.
The "more functions" menu is the right place to sort functions by category, e.g. "Map content". And let the users decide which subset of them is relevant, and let the users place them on the screen via the panel mechanics that does successfully work.
As there are more functions coming, giving the users more space on the left side is an option.

New Beta version 3.16.2.10 with some interesting news. I'm looking forward to some feedback ;)

@slarti76: well, interesting idea. I'll think about it, thanks
Hi Menion,
easy and organized access to important information is a good principle. Hence I like the approach.
Now to the details:
- Panoramio access us a great idea. However, slider is needed to control the amount images displayed on top of the map. Currently at popular places, the map completely disappears.
- Quick map switch has fastest possible access,    directly from the map. So no need to hide it one step further away.
- Map themes:  same
- POIs: even further away from instant access.
I believe that the panel construct you have is powerful and gives the user all (s)he needs.
Direct access from screen, grouping as the user wants it (by the reordering feature).
With the addition of more Features, though, you might want to offer a panel on the left.
It should be the home of the map theme, quick map switch and the recording, of course. And the size should be like current quick map switch. Not like the spacy blue buttons today.
Cheers
Michael

Offline address search ...     ... character myself if I want to add "str*" or "roa*".
100% agree re. the annoying additional layer when search. Just add another function Offlone search to the list. And if you make the texts a bit more crisp,  the list will still fit into one page.

Testing ...
Color mode is cute :-)
Menu titles should be changed, though:
Map shading -> Map shading and color
Map color mode -> Map contrast mode
Also not perfect, but nearer to what Locus does, I suppose

It works a bit like an overlay, in fact Color mode is XOR overlay. Hence it should be doable to inherit the opaque mechanics from overlays, as colors can be pretty brutal and hiding other information.

Hmm interesting. Truth is, that I woke up by accident after midnight and noticed this message Andrew & Micheal, thanks for it, so I've published it correctly a lot later (forget to press "publish" before. Did some test and then leave on a cup of tea :) ), but now it should be there!

Confirmed. Thank you. Enjoy the weekend, Menion.

TXs for new version, ML file accepted now. However, no idea (yet) how to switch between languages.

Also the V3 themes are not offered, which is not logical at all, because the mapsforge library you employ fully understands them ...

Just checked: the Elevate 3 themes I have installed are V4 since Sept. last year. So they should be available in any case, right ?

Ah damn, nothing is better then published version with new function that has in code "ignore this code if version is public". Sorry, I think it is important for most of you to test this feature, so I'll publish today one more beta with this feature correctly enabled. Thanks

After quite long time, finally some Beta version for testing. Not much big news, mainly a bunch of fixes. Hope you all will find something useful there.

Hi Menion,
I tried a mapsforge multi-language file (Berlin), but Locus Beta still says "Unsupported File Format".
What can I do ?
TXs and cheers
Michael

2 Wege: per USB an PC anschließen, eventuelle Screen Sperre öffnen am S7, dann erscheint Phone und Card. Frei beschreibbar.

Hello,
no it is not.

Idea already exists here: http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/more-comfortable-srtm-download-for-hill-shading
This link has some work around that I built.
