Correct. In case of OAM maps, the level of detail is higher (contours, if I recall correctly, plus something, on lower zoom levels) for the Alps map(s), compared to Italy whole.
Same is true for Bundesländer versus Germany south/mid/north, and Germany full. The difference between Bundesländer total versus Germany full is one GB, which not only comes from Bundesländer overlaps.

Troubles & Questions / Re: Sort results

Quote from: Tapio on February 12, 2023, 13:06:34No sorting there at all, a weakness of Locus. Create suggestion @ Helpdesk?

Sorting by distance we enjoy since years, I suppose. Just "search" without any keyword.

Use the leftmost button to switch to manual planning. Then you can go anywhere. Once your manual route reaches a way that is available in OSM (at the time when the routing data has been extracted), you can switch back to one of the other buttons and let the routing machine do teh work.

Locus Map / Re: [APP] - version 4.14.+ ( 1/2023 )
January 19, 2023, 15:21:51
Ahh, Auto-Loading. I had a suspicion in that area as well, so I went from all sources to identical source. Assuming that the raster map (which has NO gaps) in a special _split folder would not be the same source as the "ghost" raster map in the /Locus/map folder.
Now I tried "no autoload" and the ghost tiles disappeared.

As the ghost tiles ONLY appear when the overlay is active, there is definitely an error in the respective Locus logic.
With no overlay, I can use any mode of auto load, without having ghost tiles.

Good luck and kind regards
Michael

If raster maps are in one (sub-) folder, they are somehow (I never understood the exact mechanics) treated as one by Locus. But they still show up with their individual names.
Locus team should be able to explain - maybe AFTER Xmas :-)

Locus Map / Re: [APP] - version 4.13.+ ( 12/2022 )

Best would be to separate the backups into two zip files. One for the tracks DB, the other for all the rest. The second one is tiny in comparison, could be sent even via mobile internet. tracks.db is a killer after some years of activity.

Holy sh.. - my backup exploded to 2.4 GB. I definitely support turning the Brouter rd5 backup into an option (default: NO)

Troubles & Questions / Re: OS8 vs OS11
November 17, 2022, 21:08:19
Locus classic as well as Locus 4 DO work on Android 8. I just happen to set up an old A8 Samsung with Locus 4 as a backup.
When it coms to Android 11+, you will suffer from a lot of restrictions re. file system access.
Also, Samsung screwed up their temperature management for some newer devices, so people are wheeping about dimming after a few seconds.
So, maybe more than one reason to go the LG way ...

Changes since Autumn 1.0 release:
- Triggered by the request of a North American user I produced ZL 12/13 maps for much of North America.
- While ZL 12 and 13 maps have been available for parts of Europe already, I have created an additional set of maps with ZL 12/13 with wider coverage.
- Once this train started rolling, I also produced ZL 12 maps for much of Asia, split in two, as well as for Africa.
- The OAM background from ZL 8 up now is rendered from the Dec edition of Christian's OAM vector maps.
- The torrent downloads are now separated into three chunks: World maps, regional maps at ZL 11 and regional maps at ZL 12/13.

Those are the changes since summer:
- The OAM background from ZL 8 up now is rendered from the Oct edition of the OAM vector maps.
- Wind turbines could overcrowd and hide streets and other useful information in ZL 9 - 11. Now a grid based grouping into "WP" is used, substituting all turbines in the respective tile (~4km for ZL 9-10, ~2km for ZL 11). Offshore farms show all turbines as available in OSM.
Enjoy - maybe only couch surfing this time of the year :-)
Cheers

DeepL is just brilliant - unmatched quality.
Glad you adopted it, too, Menion :-)

It's really HELL - may the Google and Samsung architects burn there!
Just tried to use x-plore on my Galaxy S10, Android 12 to test your case. What worked a number of months ago is now obstructed by above axis of evil.

Other features / Re: World map at low zooms
August 31, 2022, 23:52:20
Even as a "master" of world maps I do not recall the reason for applying them to non-vector maps, tbh.
I agree with John and Menion that the original motivation for the world maps (crappy vector rendering at low zooms) should be the very reason to restrict them to those.
When you touch the related code - again, Menion, you might find an easy way to avoid vector rendering at all, if opacity for the world map is 100% ... Currently vector maps are drawn first, then the world map is applied on top. "100% overlay means no need for the alternate rendering" also applies to the other overlay feature, too, btw.
So far my 2c ...
Cheers
Michael
