At present long-tap is either ignored, or displays the address (settings > controlling > tap & hold. I use the latter. But a more general system could be long-tap > context menu > whole range of menu options, not just address.

I turned off the "search address by tap and hold" option because I triggered it often involuntarily. But I can't find another way to invoke the same feature. It would be convenient if I could search for adress at the crosshair by click of a button, or similar. Is it possible somehow?

Well -- I think I am giving up on OAM. Yes, their themes are excellent, but they do not render well in gray scale. My version of a B&W theme didn't work out of the box" I think that it is because I am using html color names -- black instead of #000000 -- which breaks rendering (!?). A brief experiment suggested that features rendering is also limited by the zoom level, so there isn't much room for improving my use case.

BTW -- I am able to reasonably see routing options between Uluru and Little Sandy Desert, which is good  enough for me

I'll eventually get back to this idea when I have more free time on my hands.

Maybe the export option "Overwrite files" is usually not turned on. Of course there is workarounds, one gpx would work, but the problem is a nasty one, people may not realize the loss of data.

Locus says "Exported 1600 tracks" and user may not notice there is just 1300 files. People may rely on re-import (personally I've done that often) and then have silently lost tracks.

The track name is just not unique. I think Locus should populate a list of export file names beforehand. Then resolve collisions before writing files. Add indexes maybe on collisions. It's really bad that it overwrites files which it has created in the same export run. I'm sorry, I always put stuff on your monstrous pile of work. 😁

User id 1aacaff2a2, I will try to find the cause of import crash, maybe find limits... EDIT: Not yet found a cause. Happens pretty much at ~1004 import files.

Have you tried OpenAndroMaps with the Elements (not Elevate) theme?

Elements is designed for sparsely-populated areas, and shows elements as soon as their data appears in the file, rather than keeping them selectively hidden until a higher zoom level.

OAM are very similar to LoMaps, but - ironically - they render better in Locus than Locus' own maps.  That's because OAM and the Locus app both support MapsForge V4, but LoMaps are still stuck at V3.

bei weiten Reisen, etwa durch den Kaukasus oder Pamir, plane ich auf dem PC mit großem HD TV Bildschirm vor. Ähnlich wie JackRussel das beschreibt. Mit dem Motoplaner (neu: Kurviger App) kann man zB schöne Strecken von Grenze zu Grenze durch ganz Zentralasien routen. Ähnlich wie beschrieben gehe ich dann her und setze zusätzliche Durchlaufpunkte wo es mir erforderlich oder interessant scheint. Gibt es irgendwo Probleme im Kartenmaterial beim Routen, setze ich Punkte vor und hinter das Problem und route kurze Stücke direkt. Durch die Mongolei hab ich auch sehr lange direkt geroutet Stücke gehabt. Die fertigen Routen kommen dann ins Navi, ggf. auch Alternativen in anderer Farbe usw.

Die Karten hatte ich dabei meist von der .NL OSM Seite. Das eingangs beschriebene Problem entstand nun scheinbar eher durch die bequem angebotenen LoMaps. Da lässt sich wohl nicht so viel einstellen oder ich bin zu blöd, was ich nicht ausschließen möchte. In Finnland geht halt nicht mehr so viel querbeet wie vor Jahrzehnten und oft enden die kleinen Nebensträßchen - erst nach vielen km - als Sackgasse. Da hat es mich geärgert, das es etwas schwierig war mit den LoMaps den Überblick für den nächsten Tag zu erstellen. Durch die aus ganz unterschiedlichen Gründen reisemäßig ausgefallenen Jahre 2019 und 2020 bin ich wohl etwas eingerostet.

Heute früh hab ich mal die ersten OAM Karten geladen und da schaut das mit Elements / Elevate 4 schon wieder alles viel freundlicher aus.

Ergänzung: Ich hab das grad mal in Finnland, Nähe Salla überprüft. Da sieht man nun nach  entsprechender Einstellung wieder was man so sehen möchte.

Ich stand vor einem ähnlichen Problem.
Bei mir ging es jedoch um Touren oder Teilabschnitte von 30-40 Km auf einem PC mit Full HD Auflösung.

Ich habe dann einfach eine Route von meinem Start zu meinem Ziel berechnen lassen.
Wenn es keine gerade Linie war, dann habe ich noch ein paar WP an Orten gesetzt, wo ich auf Jedenfall vorbei kommen wollte.

Damit hatte ich eine Orientierungslinie.

Nun konnte ich in die Karte sehr weit reinzoomen und mir die Dateils der Wege anschauen.
Orientieren kann ich mich ja immer an der Routen Linie.

Beim Planen der eigentlichen Route habe ich neue WPs gesetzt und meine richtige Route berechnen lassen.
Dann habe ich meine Route kontrolliert und wenn die Route ungewünschte verläufe nahm, habe ich zwischen WPs gesetzt, bis die Route alle gewünschten Wege nahm.

Die Route solltest Du noch aus einem anderen Grund kontrollieren.
Manchmal stimmen die in der Karte eingezeichneten Wege mit den Routing Daten von Locus (Brouter) nicht überein. Dann hast Du zwar einen WP gesetzt aber es wird nicht über den WP geroutet bzw. es werden nicht die gewünschten Wege geroutet. Wenn in den Routing Daten einige Übergang fehlen, dann kann das Umwege von mehreren KM bedeuten, obwohl die eingezeichneten Wege eigentlich durchgängig sind.

Wenn Du Dich nicht routen lassen willst, dann ist der Weg ähnlich.

Du erstellts wieder eine Start Ziel Test Route. Dann kannst Du in die Karte reinzoomen, Dich an der Route orientieren und einen Track über die gewünschten Wege zeichnen.

P.S.: Du kannst auch mit Karten und Themes experimentieren.
Die OSM Freizeitkarte hat z.B. ein Standard und Kontrast Theme. Beim Kontrast Theme werden Wege viel intensiver dargestellt. Bestimmte Wegeigenschaften werden auch anders dargestellt.

OAM hat auch eine gute Karten und Theme Auswahl.

Du solltest also Karten finden, die Dir die Orientierung erleichtern.

Hi guys,
I need to move with the version out so I can finally focus on changes in the filesystem.
So new version was just published for 25% of users. If there won't be any problem, the rest will come in the next days. You may anyway download and install APK manually from the public Google Drive. It was long two months. Not everyone will find the new "Sensors manager" useful, so at least "Distance marks" will make a smile to someone .

Photos for geocache logs are not stored in full resolution. They are immediately reduced to the smaller size and stored directly in the Locus\data\config\gcFieldNotes.db file.

Regards template: oki, I've reverted in the new version default pattern to good old {t}. Seems this needs a little more testing ... thanks.

I like the new Distance Markers, but disagree with removing the unit. Now they look like tram or metro line numbers. I really liked Josef's proposal with a big number and the unit small in a second line. That looked nicely like a milestone. Please consider...

I'm checking the docs and I do not think so ...

It is still the same list of possible exceptions. Violation of this usually detects some robot that blocks the app. Emails on support usually end on people who are not skilled enough ...

It is another kind of "user protection" that only complicates life ...

Hi guys, the discussion here is not necessary.

As I wrote, I'm well aware of this issue. I've compared all major parts of LM4 and LM Pro that differ and can't find any reason why it should affect screen dim. I've also updated all possible libraries that the app use and still no difference. It has to be some issue on the Samsung (if on all devices or not is not important now), but it has to be somehow connected to anything in the LM4 app ...

So for now, I blame my code, but ...

Damn, this seems to be weird ...

"Swipe" in the list of recently active apps, does not always have to completely kill the app, so do not rely on this!

Slowdown during the start > there should be visible some text, why is app paused. Maybe it waited on finishing automatic backup, maybe it was stuck for a while by testing filesystem permissions, there is really a lot of tasks that happen and if the device is busy with some other tasks at this moment, it may take a few seconds more ...

Only what I may do about recording, is adding some more logs to the app. So in the next Beta (tomorrow), please enable the "Logs to file" option in the hidden menu (long tap on the main menu) and after this problem happens, send me the last log where should be more info, thanks.

I actually tried to download the N51E011.zip directly to my phone when i got back from the hike (from your DTM Germany 1" v1 folder), but it didn´t show up in the list. I think my phone had a problem to display the google drive content correctly, as it went from N50 straight to N54 in the list, with no N51 Files. I just opened the folder on the computer and all the files are there.
I´ll have a look at the files when i get home and download them on the computer this time instead of trying it on the phone.

Bei Locus werden jetzt auch die Straßen Namen angezeigt. Ich nehme mal an damit die von BRouter kommen. Bei einem Test ist mir aufgefallen damit die Namen von Autobahnen nicht angezeigt werden. Ich weiß damit BRouter nicht für Auto erfunden wurde aber einige benutzen es dafür. Ich lese da immer wieder darüber. Ich selbst benutze da Maps.
Aber ich will auch den anderen helfen. Ich denke es liegt daran damit BRouter hier den Namen aus OSM auswertet. Aber bei Autobahnen wird hier ref = A6 benutzt. Vielleicht müsste man das ref auch auswerten.
