Hi menion,
I often use the nice feature "add & measure route" to plan a new tour. Sometimes I edit  the added track afterwards by using features from the left bar.
I noticed that for each trackpoint a timestamp is added. (also for an edited part of an track)
Until Locus has more capability to display statistics I have to use external desktop programs. Some of those show error messages like "start end end time has same values. No statistics are generated".

I would prefer to have a create-date tag in meta header instead of wrong (!) timestamps in case of manually generated tracks...

So do we need timestamps with same values?
Regards,
Christian

Servus,

Hi guys,
When i import a track including waypoints the waypoints will imported to POI also.
If i activate and display the track the waypoints belonging originally to the imported file are not displayed. I have to sort the POI and activate it manually.
Have i missed the function in Locus or does this function not exist?
Did i read something similar in this forum some weeks ago?
Thanx for answer,
Christian

Hi menion,
I like the grouping and folders in track manager. And i would suggest to introduce an icon or a small mark / different icon for the group when the group is closed but a track is activated.
That can be i.e. an small red triangle on the group icon or something easy like this.
Would be nice to avoid mistakes when more tracks are loaded...

Thanx,
Christian

*i described this idea some weeks or month before but cannot find it anymore...

Troubles & Questions / [Q] batch renaming
March 04, 2014, 09:49:46
Hi guys,
I used to use naming my tracks with a lot of characters. Since Locus does't support auto scrolling track names i got a problem.
So i have to rename all tracks.
The pattern i have to change are quite easy. The first four characters have to be deleted.
How to do it?
Exporting all, renaming by an external tool like Total Commander?
Or there are possibilities within Locus?
Or editing the tracks.db directly?
Any suggestions?
Thanx,
Christian

Troubles & Questions / Locus to SD card
February 27, 2014, 11:59:47
Hi guys,
somewhat destroyed slowly the data on my SD card. So i decided to format the card. All data where in backup - so no panic.
After reinstalling Locus Pro i moved it in App manager to SD card. App manager did not tell me any errors but no Locus directory was created on SD card.
So i rebooted and tried it several times w/ o any success.
Restoring data from the Locus backup is not successful.

How to move Locus to card?

Thanx for any hints,
Christian

*copy data manually to phone into the Locus dir works and Locus runs.

I would like to suggest to have more transparency in labels and no frame or an option in settings to adjust transparency and the color of the frame.
I added some POI and everytime the label covers junctions amd ways or other labels.
Using a whole POI database is a mess...

Is there any possibility to compute the average ascending of a track - or better of a part of a track?
In diagramm there are only absolute values...

Hi guys,
another question from a beginner:
sometimes when i use Locus (not as an service) i would like to take a photo. So i press the home-button, go to the home-screen, starting the camera app. After closing the camera app i have to start Locus again. Most of the time Locus continues in the background (gps icon is active in status bar), somtimes Locus is shut down by itself :( but not shut down actively!
How to prevent Locus from shut down? Starting an app from within Locus?
When mountainbiking Locus is all about. Fiddling with gloves is frustrating especially when apps are closed or hidden unespected.
How do you handle this?
Thanx,
Christian

*i know there are special gloves or special wires for sewing into the gloves...

Troubles & Questions / [Q] POI from Exif Coordinates
February 04, 2014, 22:46:08
Hi guys,
I have a lot of fotos in my mobile phone shot in the wild. I would like to display the place in Locus where the foto was shot and create a POI while on the run. (no desktop ware available).

Is there any possibility to do this in Locus or is there a work around?

Thanx,
Christian

Hi guys,
I'm still impressed of the bunch of functions in Locus especially the handling of the maps which i use for mountainbiking and hiking and impressing the Garmin-users. So i played around with different maps - preferred OpenAndroMaps - and the themes. I figured out the less information the theme has the better for me :)
So mostly i use the "outdoor" theme by bm.ffb. And i slightly customized it: bigger fonts, changed min-zoom... and i'm very satisfied with this. Because even on the big screen of a Galaxy note fonts could be bigger and with more contrast.

Unfortunately when i have to change the theme, all accustomed settings disappear and i have to use settings of the other theme. (or have to change each theme.xml also :(
So my question to the power users:
How do you handle the different themes and settings?
What about  a "master config file"? All settings stored in this (xml?) -file would overwrite the settings of the themes? Make it sense to have selected settings like names of towns, cities, suburban places, peaks a.s.o. to be equal in all used themes? Master settings should not contain more than 20 pieces, no settings for colors, no special icons...

This should be a discussions with the users and not a request to menion (yet).
I checked the theme configurator also but its a different song.
Christian

*When i close my eyes at night i can clearly see a GUI for this purpose but just now a config file would be great ;)

Troubles & Questions / parking: how does it works?
October 29, 2013, 18:02:01
Hi @all,
this is another question only.

i use Locus on my Galaxy Note and always try to avoid too much consumption of power. For long day tours i often leave the additional power pack at home, but ist's risky.
Using the funktion "parking" does start a process ? Do this need any additional ressources?

Thanx for an answer,
Christian

Hi menion,
this is a question only...

I activated in settings ->global -> orientation lock -> map screen and it works.
But this set avoids screen rotation in Android after shut down Locus. Is this correct?
I tried this with orientation lock -> all screens and this let Android rotate the screen....

No idea.

Thanx for an answer,
Christian

Wishlist / Star rating for tracks
October 10, 2013, 14:14:51
Hi guys,
i would like to suggest to introduce a kind of star rating for stored tracks.
Using over 400 tracks make it difficult to remember good / medium / less good tracks.
Three light yellow stars _behind_ the name of the track would be useful. And the option to set rating in track manager.
Prio: 99

Thanks,
Christian

Troubles & Questions / Track arrows
October 10, 2013, 14:07:55
Hi guys,
changing 'line color ' in folder setting to 'altitude' displays track arrows in light neon green (when track under the cross = inverted colors). But unfortunately the arrows are displayes in a bad manner: i cannot see the direction. see both screenshots. One with folder setting 'line' = altitude, the other one with 'line' = simple line.
I use circuits / looped tracks only. Sometimes loop in loop or figured as 'eight'. Knowing the right direction is essential.

@Menion: can you please improve the arrow colurs to a solid color? AND i would suggest to display the arrows constantly (with a option to deactivate).

Thanx and greetings,
Christian

Wishlist / Snap to track for basic information
October 05, 2013, 23:43:46
I use the information of "distance went | distance to go | altitude" - shown when the cross / map center is over the track - quite often. Unfortunately snapping to the track is sometimes difficult, sometimes not possible. Don't know why. May be due the calculation time by the processor or radiation by aliens....

I would like to have a function "snap to track" to show the info mentioned above or a function "display basic info" should contain "distance went | distance to go | altitude | altitude difference  still to go"

What do you think?
Thanks for comments,
Christian

Hi folks,
the last update was a big jump!
But unfortunately something is missed:
: display the distance gone / distance to go when the track is under the cross (center map) This is a killer feature for me...
: the chosen track color set in folder settings is not displayed

Any hints / ideas?
Christian

Hallo Joachim,

Christian

Hi,
i'm looking for the setting "GPS active, Display dimmed while using a track (imported gpx)".
My be i'm blind, because i could not find a related setting... but i would be useful to keep the gps active when the display is switched off. Is there any setting for this?

Thanx for a hint.
