Servus,

Danke,
Christian

Hi all,
I switched to a new phone and took over all my settings from my previous phone w/out any problem.
But when I start the navigation the map is not orientated properly. See attachment.
The orientation should be north. Map rotation, map center is on. Hardware Compass is used.
Which setting I have to change?

Thanx,
Christian

Servus beinander,

Christian

Hi menion,
I'm happy with the new feature
( http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/altitude-map)
and played around with the palettes. But unfortunately i can't get any intensive coloring like you (in the image of Praha).
In my case is always pale light brown or kind of grey :(

If i understand correctly the numbers in palettes like 0....126 or -1500....4000 are taken by Locus as height above sea levels? Or relative difference in altitude?
Looking for palettes for low mountains range (400-900m above sea level) and for the alps (800-4000m above sea level).

I tried palettes nrw*, alpen, GMT* and other palettes from the link you posted but without any better results.

Thank you for any hint,
Christian

Troubles & Questions / Waypoint time stamp
May 27, 2016, 21:48:13
Hi menion,
i let Locus generate a track with nav commands from Brouter.
After export there are timestamps in the waypoints like this (in bold):

<wpt lat="48.130144" lon="11.449368">
<ele>539.32</ele>
2016-05-19T18:50:27Z

<desc>

 Höhe

539 m

 Erstellt

2016-05-19 23:24:38

 </desc>
</wpt>

I guess time tags and values are from Locus ?!?

Other analyses softwares declares that the track took 10 minutes.
Can we get rid of the useless (and in this case wrong) time stamps in waypoints? Like in tracks some times ago?

Thank you,
Christian

Troubles & Questions / Popup: font size
May 19, 2016, 22:09:46
Hi menion.
Playing around with new version and CAN'T read letters and numbers in track popup without glasses. There were some urgent reasons and user requests to decrease font size?
Up to now i don't need glasses on tour and i don't want to carry it with me.

*arrrrgh

Can i have the old font size back? Please.

Troubles & Questions / Locus as a service
May 12, 2016, 20:24:49
Locus is installed internally, most maps are on SD card. Locus is set to "as a service"
Yesterday during a bike ride my SD card lost contact to phone. After fiddling and reboot i got red toasts with message "Problem mit Verzeichnis "backup/" means "problem with directory backup/". Another message regarding dir "export/".

SD card (and pathes) are broken hence the messages are right.
So i guess that Locus service is running night and day even if Locus is NOT used.
@menion, can you please confirm this?
If so i would like to ASK to change this behavior to let run the service only if a part of Locus is active. I got problems with battery drain...

Another question:
After losing all my maps on SD card i got white background with a colored track. Not funny.
Why did not Locus switch to the map left in internal memory?
Pathes to several map directory was set correctly.

Hi,
I would like to know the percentages of surface conditions of an existing track, i.e.
x% gravel
x% path
x% tarmac
a.s.o.

Questions are,
: where are the information stored. In vector maps?
: and should this be computed after or during creation of a track?

Before writing a feature request in help desk i would like to have some further information...

When using "add new route..." there are latterly new blue icons with white arrow down (Zwischenziele) after saving the new track. How can i avoid these icons?
No hint in docs :(

Hi menion,
Yesterday I recorded a track with Locus Pro 3.4.2, non Beta. In Android the time zone is set to +2.
Time stamp of the first track point was 08:08:35. I started running at 10:08.
In track detail page creation time is displayed as 10:08.
So I guess the date written into the track is without concerning of time zone now???
With version of December 2014 the right time was written in the recorded track...

Christian

Should i give Windows another shot for my favorite Android app?
Is Locus going to be adapted for this???
No more virtualization, no more chrome.

Lot of possibilities. Life is hard.

Tools / [Q / OT] Editing speed in rec. track
April 14, 2015, 18:28:25
Hi all,
totally OT but interesting for me.
I did a run today and had a lot of breaks due to fingering into setting in Locus beta and fallen trees which i have to climb. So time and speed are not regular. (normally no worries)
Do anyone know how to edit / filter the track to get a realistic time w/o the breaks? I use german GPS-Track-Analys.NET and can filter all points "as errors" with speed less than a value i created. But then i can only delete this selection of points.
Imho if there is a time stamp causing a speed close to zero this value should be changed to the value of the next point with a time stamp causing speed bigger then zero.
Am I wrong? Any hints for processing or tools?

Thanx,
Christian

Hi guys,
when i create a route by 'add / measure route' there is a number in the left upper corner displaying the distance of the created track like 8,3 (km). In track screen in statistics also. Is there any possibility to blow this up to double-digits after point like 8,36 ???

Hi guys,
first of all, i know the altitude manager in Locus, STRM files, barometric and gps stuff a.s.o. to get altitude values out of Locus.
In the heart of middle Frankonia sometimes i used to do trailrunning and want to know the exact altitude differences to plan my routes.
As you can see on osm there is a small canyon called Schwarzachklamm with a bridge 18m in height and the canyon is accordingly 18m deep. Very nice there.
The height lines on osm maps and on vector maps from Locus store based on osm doesn't show any hillsides inside the canyon. Means, all the lines parallel to the the creek are missed. Due to the heigth below 20m there are no information about altitude differences.

Example: if i use "add / meaure route" and across the creek or moving the center cross over the creek and over the hillside i get 5m height difference only.
If i choose the path by feet up and downstairs i get 16m downhill and 16m uphill as real numbers (not in Locus). Doing this recurrently i get a lot of height meters but not noticed by Locus.

This problem seems bigger to me than don't know the exact altitude of the Schwarzachklamm yet. In landscapes with rippled surfaces and altitude differences <20m like in average mountain or foreland of the alps there are no exact values on maps and in SRTM files also.

How to get the information about the exact altitude?
Any hints?

Servus,

Troubles & Questions / error handling in Locus
October 22, 2014, 17:40:21
Hi guys,
one year ago i downloaded a gpx- track from gps portal. (if you zoom out on the web map you can see a lot of points in the middle of germany whereupon the track is in the south). I imported the track and used it without any worries.
Two weeks ago with version 3.3.x i activated the always imported track and a message told me " too many labels / zu viele Beschriftungen".
The reason is that this track contains a lot of useless points not noticed by me. Locus called the track and stumbles over these points. The syntax within the gpx file is correct. So i expect that Locus jump to the starting point (?) of the track or in modern style jump to the middle of the area the track covers.
But Locus is fighting with the amount of points in the middle of germany and does'nt jump to the track ;(
I guess the sequence in computing the points is the reason. menion, can you please change this?

Another item discovered by different cases:
The waypoints and the description can contain special characters like ä, ö, ü and so on. This should not be a reason to cancel an import process. Locus should handle this by itself.

Regards,
Christian

Hi guys,
This info is running through the internet. Seems that Google wants to conquer the desktops by an Add-on.
So it is still a beta and I guess authentication via Google play will not work up to now.
But I'm very interested in running Locus in a browser instead of a heavy installation of a virtual box to use it for planing tours.
So question is will @menion supports adapted APK? And if yes... when?

Troubles & Questions / Set starting point
August 26, 2014, 21:42:43
Hi guys,
I really like the features for editing tracks an use it often. But one is missing: to set (change) the starting point in a round trip track.
Sometimes I use downloaded tracks or old tracks but want to change the starting point and want to see the changed diagram with elevations.
So Locus has to check that the track has a round trip (with gaps of max. 250m) and than offer the function to set a new starting point.

I would like to request this as a new feature on the new help site. Any furter suggestions?
Regards,
Christian
