Fixed!! Thank you. The XGPS-150 works fine as an external BT sensor now.

menion -- Really? If I only knew! I thought I had looked at the .sqlite files after Locus initalized them. My problem was that Locus shows all the WRONG maps as "nearby". I then started looking for "why"? That is how I learned what I posted. I am not so sure that Locus looks at the maps, calculates the center, then writes that back to the .sqlite data file. See this viewtopic.php?f=21&t=2665 for what I discovered. All I want is for a way to have the center_x and center_y values be the correct center coordinates of the maps data in that .sqlite file. I did not see this, and so Locus was showing me the wrong maps when I used the little button in the top-left corner (fast switch maps).

I'm guessing it relates to the power remaining in the battery. But it's illegal NMEA without  the ending *XX. I tried to find docs on the NMEA for the device, the Dual XGPS150 Universal Bluetooth GPS Receiver, but I cannot seem to find it. I think your strategy of ignoring it is a good one!!

OK I have run the test. Looking closer, Locus does not get GPS fix info! That would explain it, right?   I have attached both the NMEA trace as well as a screen shot during the test showing that satellite info is being received and displayed on Locus' GPS map. It just does not seem to beable to get fix info out of the NMEA info. By the way, the Dual XGPS-150 is an excellent BT GPS unit and this one definitely works, as I have been using it with the iPad. I know it has a special mode for iPad, and I did not have that mode selected on its switch.

Troubles & Questions / Re: Nexus 4 support

gynta says it's fixed now. All I can say is that Locus Pro is fine (well, excellent!) on 4.2.1 (Nexus 7 tablet).

Also reposting this, which is a major inconvenience when making maps with MOBAC. Did you see my article Using MOBAC for offline maps - finer points?

Excellent. I write astronomy software for a living (see http://acp.dc3.com/), so I know how it is that something obvious can sit out there for years!! Thank you!!

OK I have done  the test. Click the images for full size screen shots.

The Compass/GPS also showing the magnetic variation here.

The display on North up

Track up - Hardware compass Use true bearing = true

Track up - Hardware compass Use true bearing = false

Track up - GPS heading (hardware compass off to make sure) Use true bearing = true

Track up - GPS heading (hardware compass off to make sure) Use true bearing = false

To me, the "use true bearing" should only affect the displayed bearing values (true or magnetic) and not the orientation of the map itself. When moving, "track up" should be "track up" in all cases. With Use True Bearing = false, as you can see with both the hardware compass and the GPS as the heading source, the track is not up, it is rotated away from "up" by the magnetic variation.

The APK seems missing, 404 not found. I have Locus Pro 2.7.4. Is that ok for your tests?

Troubles & Questions / Re: Right Panel - Gone!

Excellent, this will be a good improvement. Thank you!!

Thanks for this. I am totally busy for a couple of days more. I will try this Sunday or Monday.

No rush, I apologize for bugging you.

This is actually a big issue for me... is there something I need to do with the settings or is it a bug?

Troubles & Questions / Re: Right Panel - Gone!

menion - I did read your post but was confused because from what I could see my panel was not empty, there were checkmarks next to the items I wanted to be in the  RIght Panel. I was not aware that the checkmarks were not related to the Right Panel.

I understand how it works now, but I think it is not clear :-)

Troubles & Questions / Re: Right Panel - Gone!
November 25, 2012, 05:03:46
GOT IT! Now, there were 7 items shown with checkmarks in the "Set Right Panel" list. These were the options I set in the past, and which I thought should be in the right panel. However, adding one more caused only that option to appear in a new right panel. Then I went back and touched each existing checkmark. For each one, I got the "button added" popup. After doing this for the ones I already had checked (!!), I now have the right panel with the desired items. But...

In order to get the exact words for this message I added Navigation, and then tried to delete it. I cannot delete any things added to the right panel now!!! I tried three times and now I have three checkmarks on the right panel all leading to Navigation (which I do not want on the right panel).

It took me a LONG TIME to figure out that you long click buttons on the panel to have the option to delete them. I think the check mark should go away if the (checked) item in the menu is clicked again.  Also it is goofy that I was allowed to add three copies of one button to the right menu :-)))

Well, main problem solved. I have a right panel now!! And there is a workaround too. I'm happy now. THANKS!!!

However I think the original problem is a bug. The items in the Set Right Panel dialog that had check marks were not actually set!
