Couldn´t attach more than 2 files in one post so here are the other two.

Hi Jusc,
you are comparing high zoom levels, which is not what i meant. At zoom levels 17+ even vector maps start showing a higher level of detail.
I was talking about levels 13-16 where tile maps (like osm hike and bike) start showing names of paths and roads, whereas vectormaps (at least with all the themes i have tried so far) don´t.
If you look at the attached files you can see that when it comes to level of details the tile maps always win.
I don´t mind making compromises when there is no other way, but i don´t think that vector maps can´t achieve what i want. I also don´t think that the maps look too cluttered with street names at lower zoom levels, so for me there is no reason not to be able to see them...

When looking at these two screenshots i don´t see any reason why the vector map doesn´t display the town name - there is plenty of space and the tile map shows how it´s done...

@menion
no, i don´t see those favorites values in the data screen, only in the information tab of the cache. Any idea why that would be?
I just tried the "refresh cashes" (Caches aktualisieren) but that didn´t help.
Oh and what happened to the outdoor active map? I was hoping that it would be fixed with this update but locus still won´t load the tiles, it just says "doesn´t exist".
I also had some crashes for the first time since i use locus (over one year now), when scrolling around a vector map on low zoom levels (Level 7).
Locus just froze and I had to shut it down via the task manager. i´d send u a crash report but i don´t know where to find it.

Edit: I have downloaded some new caches and they show the favorites value now and the sorting function also works.

@menion
i tried to find a system to the way locus sorts my caches when choosing "favorites", but i can´t find any - first cache in list has 2 favorite points, second has 1, third has none, than there are a few more with none, than one with 14 and then back to none, followed by one with five and so on.
So there is a seemingly random up and down and i can´t find any system in it.

Thanks for the link, i have just had a look at the classic theme and i must say that the city/town labeling is way better.
The street labeling is also better, although i´d prefer some more labels at lower zoom levels.
I also just realised that i had the text size set to 150% which led to some labels not being shown. I thought locus would just blow up the text without removing any labels.
I´ll have another look at this with 100% text size now and see if the detail level is ok or if i need to get into theme editing to get the result that i want.

Hi Menion,
The Caches where imported with Geocaching 4 Locus and some of them contain values for "favoriten" (german version) in the information tab, with a blue ribbon and a number next to it. Isn´t that the value that should be used when sorting by favorite points?

@mambofive
What do you mean with "classic" theme? I can only choose between town, street, bike, hike and ski. Or is that a downloadable theme?
I think the point of a map is being able to look up where i am... And i think it´s nice to be able to look up what little village it is that i am looking at or what the name of the street is that i am standing in - without having to zoom in and out. And as that is already perfectly possible with tile maps i am just looking for a way to have the same comfort in vector map.

Hi,
As the loading speed of vector maps is increasing with every update, I am now more and more tempted to use them. So far i was using mainly tile maps, as they load so much quicker. But the other thing that was and still is stopping me from using vector maps is the lack of details. They never seem to show the name of towns (often just the name of districts) and also the names of streets are often only shown at very high zoom levels.
Whenever i want to know the name of a town i find myself zooming in and out until i find a zoomlevel where the name is shown, but i have come across several towns now where it´s never shown.
I have tried the hiking and cycling theme as well as the openandromaps theme, but none of them is any good. I always go back to my tile maps, as they show much more details, even the name of hiking paths.
Am I the only one with this problem? Maybe there is some theme out there that gets it right and i have missed it?
From my understanding it´s the themes that control what is shown at which level and in what colour etc. or am i mistaken?
My preferred tile maps are OSM Hike and Bike and Outdooractive and I would love to have the same level of details on my Vector Maps.

Hi Menion,
first of all thanks for another great version of your app. I especially like the faster loading speed of vector maps (maybe i will at some point start using them now instead of tile maps...) and the new data screen.
Also the "sort caches by favorite points" sounded great, but when i tried it it didn´t work. The order of the caches was changed, but when i checked them they were not in order of favourite points.
It would also be handy to see the favourite points in the POI List.

Does anyone know if this will be fixed in the next version? I´d rather wait than manually change the file.

Wishlist / Re: Hillshade Overlay Offline?
June 21, 2013, 12:11:01
Just a quick feedback - Using the infos from brotbuexes link i managed to download the hillshade tiles.
Whose server is that toolserver? Just wondering whom to thank for supplying the hillshade tiles...?
Oh and another question - I downloaded the hillshades for all of german in zoomlevel 12.
When i zoom in further than level 12 the hillshades obviously disappear. Is there any way of setting the overlay map to still display them by just enlarging the images, like it does on normal maps when zooming in further than the highest zoomlevel? I don´t think the loss of quality will matter so much with the hillshades.

@Menion
Thanks for the quick reply. If i understand it correctly, enabling dev_enable_vector_maps_hillshade will use the data embedded in the map to create hillshades? And by the name of that switch i am guessing that this will only work for vector maps? Because i mainly use tile maps, as they load a lot quicker.
So I still prefer the option of being able to download the hillshade layer, which i can then overlay on any map i have got. Maybe you could check with Hike and Bike if they would agree to a downloadable version? I wouldn´t mind to pay for that option.
@Brotbuexe
Thanks for the link, i will try it when i get home.

Wishlist / Hillshade Overlay Offline?
June 20, 2013, 13:38:27
Hi,
I have just come across the Hike and Bike Hillshade Overlay Map and It blew my mind. The maps look so much better now, I can´t believe that it took so long to find this great option.
The only thing that i don´t understand is why I can´t download the hillshade "map". Or have i just overlooked something?
I always prefer to have everything offline for when i am abroad or in areas with bad network coverage.
Maybe someone here can help me with this?

Troubles & Questions / Re: Upload Fieldnotes
June 04, 2013, 14:24:26
Thanks for your answer and the link. I´ll just wait for the official release, as it´s not a very important problem.
I continue to be amazed though, by the incredible support for this app, the extremely fast release of bugfixes and the evergrowing features that this app offers.

Troubles & Questions / Upload Fieldnotes
June 03, 2013, 21:30:28
Hi,
I mainly use locus pro for geocaching and i love the fact that i can mark a cache as found whilst on the go and later upload the fieldnotes and fill in the log on the geoaching website.
Locus used to delete the fieldnotes after uploading them (the box for that is ticked), but it doesn´t anymore. So after uploading the fieldnotes i need to delete them by hand. I am not complaining, as deleting them doesn´t take long, but I am just surprised, that this feature, which used to work just fine, doesn´t work anymore.
Locus and all plugins are all up-to-date.
