Hi,
I am afraid I have to report a little bug in version 2.14.0. When i open the new satellite / compass screen everything seems fine, until i change the tab (e.g. from compass to sat view). The sat screen is then displayed very small and not in the center. If necessary I can supply a screenshot, but maybe the bug is already known. The funny thing is that both screens work fine when i open them from the main screen, the display prolem only occurs when changing the tab.
So when i open the compass view everything is fine until i change into the sat tab. And when i open the sat tab everything is fine until i change into the compass tab.
Let me know if you want a screenshot or need more info about my device.

Has this feature left its beta status already? I didn't see any mentioning of it in the release note of yesterday's public release, but I can now use it in the normal locus version (I have also got the last locus beta installed).

Schön das wir helfen konnten und weiterhin viel Spaß mit Locus.
Ich empfehle wirklich sich einfach mal einen Abend lang hinzusetzen und die Möglichkeiten von Locus zu erkunden. Mir hat es sogar Spaß gemacht mich davon überraschen zu lassen, was diese App alles zu bieten hat.
Kommt natürlich auch darauf an wie man die App nutzen will, aber da es bei mir zum cachen, radfahren und wandern ist war ich begeistert (und bin es immernoch) von all den Funktionen die Locus bereitstellt.
Zum Cachen solltest du auf jedenfall die Gecoachingaddons installieren, vor allem wenn du einen Geocaching Premium Account hast - das macht den Download von Caches und Pocket Query Import echt kinderleicht.

Ah, ich wollte eigentlich auch schreiben "ich glaube bei Locus ist das Format WGS (x.x°) voreingestellt", ich selber habe es schon lange auf WGS (x°x.x') umgestellt, da ich selber gern cachen gehe. Da hab ich wohl glatt ein Wort vergessen.

Jetzt muss ich mich als Cacher auch nochmal kurz einmischen.

Was genau möchtest du denn nun erreichen? Einen Punkt schnell dort hinzufügen wo dein Fadenkreuz sich befindet? Dann ist "Punkt schnell hinzufügen" der richtige Weg.
Jetzt schreibst du aber, du willst einen Punkt an definierte Koordinaten setzen (wie beim Cachen ja öfters benötigt). Hier macht es doch gar keinen Sinn den Punkt erst irgendwo hinzusetzen und dann die Koordinaten zu editieren.
Dazu hat Locus eine weitere Funktion, "Neuen Punkt hinzufügen" (Das ist das Symbol mit dem + auf der Nadel anstatt dem Blitz).
Das legst du dir in die rechte Leiste, klickst drauf, wählst einen Namen für den Wegpunkt und klickst dann auf das Stiftsymbol. Nun kannst du auswählen wie der Punkt erstellt werden soll, wählst "Koordinaten" und dann gibst du die Koordinaten ein. Locus unterstützt verschiedene Koordinatenformate (gibt ja leider mehrere), merkt sich aber deine Einstellung.

Ich muss persönlich sagen, ich habe noch nie so eine umfangreiche, auf die eigenen Bedürfnisse bis aufs letzte anpassbare, unglaublich gut supportete, sich ständig weiterentwickelnde und einfach nur geniale GPS App gesehen wie Locus und finde sie auch zum Cachen besser als alles was ich bisher gesehen habe (auch besser als viele reine GPS Geräte).
Wo sonst kannst du verschiedenste Offline Karten (Tile und Vector!) nutzen, die Caches direkt loggen oder Fieldnotes erstellen, Spoilerbilder direkt aus dem Programm herunterladen, während des Cachens die Route aufzeichnen, Hillshades einblenden lassen, umliegende Caches herunterladen, einen Direktlink zur Taschenlampenapp auf die Bedienleiste legen etc. etc. etc.
Vorausgesetzt Locus ist richtig konfiguriert möchte ich die App sehen, die diesen Umfang auch nur annährend erreicht.  
Jedoch liegt in diesem Umfang auch der einzige Nachteil von Locus -  man muss sich erstmal damit auseinandersetzen und sich hinsetzen und die App einmal richtig kennenlernen und konfigurieren.
Ich kenne auch kaum andere Apps (oder auch Programme) mit einer so hilfsbereiten Community und einem derart erreichbaren Developer (Menion), der auf Fragen und Vorschläge in unfassbarem Tempo antwortet. Er hätte sich bestimmt auch hier zu Wort gemeldet, spricht aber kein deutsch.

Edit: Wo ich deinen Post gerade nochmal lese - gibst du denn die Koordinaten auch in dem richtigen Format ein? Wenn nicht kann es auch daran liegen, dass dein Wegpunkt nicht dort erscheint wo du es möchtest.
Edit2: Ich glaube bei Locus ist das Format (wie im Video zu sehen) WGS (x.x°), während beim Cachen eher WGS (x°x.x') geläufig ist.

So am i getting this right - at the moment there is no other way (within locus) to download the hgt files than to fill in the height information?
So if i want to see the height information of a new place i have to draw a little mini track and fill in the info or is there an easier way that i am not seeing?
I know that these are all beta functions, so i am not complaining, just curious.
Offline POIs - thanks, i would have never guessed that the map symbol was there for displaying the POIs on the map - works like a charm!
Vector Maps - I really hope that one day the labeling for vector maps gets sorted out. How comes that it is so difficult?
It works so much better on Tilemaps and surely they were at some stage only computer generated as well.
As of now i still prefer my Tilemaps, as they load instantly and show me all the street and town names.

Can´t wait until all these great new functions leave their Beta Status!

I was playing around with the latest Testversion to check out the new Offline POIs, World Map and Hillshading for Vector Maps.
Maybe someone can help me with a few issues:
Hillshading: Is it possible to download the HGT Files (required for the hillshading) in any other manner than by creating a track and filling in the height Information?
Maybe download the file for a whole country from somewhere? At the moment i can only see the hillshading around areas where i have created a track.
Offline POIs: Is it possible to show the POIs directly on the map (e.g. show all campsites nearby) or can u only select them in the POI list and then export them as a waypoint?

I also love the new world map, as it loads a lot quicker than the usual low zoom levels (although it seems that the loading speed of vector maps has improved once again). But it seems that there is still a little problem with the display of country names (some are missing, sometimes the word is half missing,overlay problems with capitals etc.). I tried this with several themes.

I agree with Jusc, i really like the satellite screen and find it very useful. So please keep it ;-)

When you say 3d-Map, what exactly do you mean? Do you mean being able to see hills and valleys? Or 3D buildings in towns? Or do you mean that 3d view that some car nav systems have? Maybe you can supply a picture of what you mean?
And i am also not quite sure what you mean with different sounds for POIs? Should they sound when you get near that POI whilst driving? Or more for hiking / biking?

hast du dir mal die Einstellungsmöglichkeiten im Höhenmanager angeschaut (Gps und Ortung -> Höhenmanager)? Dort kann man ein paar Sachen einstellen, die die Genauigkeit der Höhenangaben verbessern.
Wenn es dir aber hauptsächlich darum geht, dass die Höhengaben nach beendeter Aufzeichnung korrigiert werden sollen hat Locus auch hierfür eine Funktion. Du wählst den Track aus, so dass du auf dem Info Screen bist, wo dir die Höhe, Gesamstrecke etc. angezeigt werden. Dann klickst du unten rechts auf die Zahnräder und wählst Höhe eintragen. Hier kannst du nun entscheiden ob du die Höhenmeter durch Onlinedaten oder Offline korrigeren lassen willst. Für die Offlinekorrektur muss einmalig eine Datei heruntergeladen werden.
Wichtig - Die korrigierten Daten werden dir erst angezeigt wenn du den Track schliesst und erneut öffnest.
Ich habe aber bisher noch nicht kontrolliert, wie genau die Höhenmeter nach dieser Korrektur sind. Wenn du dir also die Mühe machst das zu prüfen (z.B. durch einen Vergleich mit Online Diensten oder bei einer Strecke mit dir bekannten Höhenmetern) würde mich das Ergebnis sehr interessieren.

Guess i should get used to checking for updates before posting a Locus bug. And i was sure that i only just checked for updates yesterday morning...
I have never come accross any software with such quick releases of bugfixes as this one.
And sure enough - I have just installed the update and everything is working fine again.

Hi,
I went on a bikeride yesterday and was surprised to see that my screen switched itself of after 30 seconds, although locus was running.
I checked the locus settings and was surprised to find that the "always screen on" was set to off, as i had set it to "on" ages ago.
The problem is that I can´t switch it back on. Every time I click on "always screen on" locus freezes and then crashes.
I have tried it several times now and rebooted the phone a few times but that didn´t help.
Is this a know bug in locus 2.13.0 or am i the only one with this problem?

Thanks for your effort. Guess we will have to wait for improvements of town labelling.
Any idea on how to improve the visibility of street and path names in zoom levels 14-16? Can these be improved by editing the theme?

I have fixed the provider.xml now. I didn´t realise that the outdooractive map came from the maptweak plugin and not from locus itself.
