die Karte ist normalerweise auf die Mitte zentriert und folgt der aktuellen Position.
Sobald man aber auf der Karte herumscrollt ist dies nicht mehr der Fall. Man kann einstellen, das die Karte nach einer bestimmten Zeit automatisch wieder auf die aktuelle position zentriert (Einstellungen->Karte Bedienung und Leisten ->  Karte zur aktuellen GPS Position bewegen).
Man kann natürlich auch manuell auf der aktuellen Position zentrieren indem man in der unteren Bedienleiste auf den linken Knopf (ein Punkt auf den vier Pfeile zeigen) klickt. Nun sollte die Karte auch automatisch deiner Position folgen.
Hat denn die Trackaufzeichnung geklappt? Und wurde deine Position überhaupt auf der Karte angezeigt? Solltest du nämlich keinen Satfix gehabt haben geht natürlich auch sonst nichts.

Das ist mir bei meinem Post gar nicht aufgefallen, aber du hast natürlich recht. Sichtbarkeit macht nicht so wirklich Sinn ;-)

One more little, almost tiny, bug - in the new weather screen (when did that cool feature appear?? Have I overlooked it so far or did you quietly include that in one of the recent versions?) the German words for humidty and visibility are too long and the last letter of each word is being displayed in the line below, so it looks like this:

Might not effect all devices, but affects my phone with android 2.3.6, 3.8 inch display (800*480 pixels).
Oh and it would also be interesting to know which of the many weather services you are using for the data. Because my phone says that it is sunny outside, but reality does not agree with that ....

just downloaded the latest version and the descriptions in the "more" menu are now being display correctly.
I still think that the old layout with the long descriptions was better for users new to locus, as they might not know what each button does, just from it´s name.
However, for me it´s fine the way it is ;-)
I also found another little bug, unless it´s meant to be that way:
When i open a Menu, for example "more" or "geocaching tools" and click onto the top part, where it says "geocaching tools", the buttons behind that layer are being clicked. So if i click at the top left the main menu will open, even though i can´t see the button for it.

I have just had a brief look at the latest test Version and i think that the old way the "more" menu was designed worked better.
I think that especially for new users the missing long descriptions will be a problem. There is also no line break when the description is too long to fit into one line and it just gets abbreviated with "...." . So again new users won´t really know what the function does, as the Picture is not always self-explanatory.
I am using the German version and quite a few of the descriptions make no sense as essential parts of the text are missing.

You have to edit the providers.xml.
If i remember correctly you will find it in locus\mapsonline\custom .
Just make sure to create a backup copy before you edit that file.

The only problem is that the cloud layer is above the icon layer, making it very difficult to see the icons and temparature when there are clouds above that area. Is there any way of improving that? Maybe by changing the layers around so that the icon layer is above the cloud layer?

This looks very interesting. Before i try it out i was wondering how practical it is?
How do you get the map to refresh? Won´t Locus just cache the map and thereby prevent refreshing by unloading and loading the map?
How could i know how old the data is that i am looking at? I mean other than by comparing my thermometer with the temparature on the map ;-)

did you check whether you have a satellite fix?
Because as long as you have one, locus should allows show your current location on the map.
The button that KaHeMu was talking about should then center your map on your current location and also make sure that the map stays centered on your location.

I was really looking forward to the new shading system that´d allow me to use it also on my non-vector maps.
So when i saw that the new version was out i couldn´t wait to try it out.
To my disappointment this new feature only works with android 3 or higher, but I am still on Android 2.3.6 .
How comes that it´s not possible to use this with older android versions?

Tja, da bleibt wohl bloß zu hoffen, dass das Problem mit den Darstellungen auf Vektorkarten eines schönen Tages behoben sein wird.
Auch die Darstellung von Straßennamen ist mit keinem der Themes so wirklich gut. Bei den Tilemaps sind oft schon einige Zoomstufen früher die Straßennamen zu sehen und zwar ohne das die Karte dadurch unübersichtlich wird, Bei den Vektorkarten muss man meist deutlich weiter reinzoomen.
Mal schauen, was die Zukunft so bringt.
Die Volatile Themes habe ich auch schon probiert, sind nicht schlecht aber auch noch nicht das Wahre. Ich muss mir bei Gelegenheit mal das Voluntary theme anschauen.

es ist ja nicht so, dass ich die Vektorkarten nicht benutze - im Urlaub habe ich immer Vektorkarten dabei, weil man halt so ganz Europa in der Tasche haben kann.
Aber wenn ich genau weiss wo ich hingehe und halt in meiner "Homezone" hab ich die Tilemaps immernoch lieber.
Was mich mehr stört als das langsame rendern der Vektorkarten sind die Ortsnamen. Irgendwie schafft es kein Theme diese anständig darzustellen. In einer Zoomstufe steht mal der Ortsname da, in der nächsten schon nichtmehr, dafür die vom Nachbarort, die vorher gefehlt hat.
Wenn dies nur bei kleinen Käffern der Fall wäre könnte ich damit ja leben, aber teilweise fehlen auch bei Großstädten die Ortsnamen oder verschwinden (in gleicher Schriftgröße) zwischen den Stadtteilen...
Welches Theme benutzt du denn bzw. welches kannst  du empfehlen? Habe schon diverse ausprobiert aber muss dauernd umschalten, weil eins hier besser ist, das andere dort.

Ich finde es gibt einige Gründe, die nach wie vor für die Verwendung von OSM Tilemaps anstatt Vektorkarten sprechen.
Einer wäre der deutlich langsamere Bildaufbau bei Vektorkarten, besonders auf Leistungsschwachen Handys. Dann finde ich die Darstellung von Städtenamen noch immer sehr schlecht, mit allen bisher ausprobierten Themes wurden nie alle Städte / und Ortsnamen dargestellt. Dies ist zwar auch bei den Tilemaps nicht perfekt, aber um Längen besser.
Ansonsten habe Vektorkarten aber natürlich klar die Nase vorn. Jedoch sind diese zwei Punkte für mich ausschlaggebend genug immer wieder auf Tilemaps zurückzugreifen.

@menion the problem occurs every time I switch tabs. The position and size of the compass and the satellite overview are not always the same though.
