Two problems in the latest beta:


Just the wording. The error isn't unknown, it is no internet.


I got stuck in an endless loop here. I had just downloaded the bike navigation cursors from the Store. Both the Locus back arrow and the phone back button took me back one screen, but Locus then reloaded the displayed page. This has now happened to me twice when visiting the Store. This time a quick double tap on the back button worked.

And finally, lock up at ZL9 world map continues to bug me.

there seems to be an instance of dependency from your voluntary theme. telephone_emergency.svg targets the ../vol_res folder and not /ossymbols. People who don't have voluntary installed will run into trouble that way.

O dear, I obviously haven't checked it well enough. Now corrected and uploaded.

@menion Dropbox link sent. There was no red toaster this time, but permission for the backup directory on external SD is lost on reboot (always). I set the backup directory to external SD, restarted Locus, checked backup directory is set OK, exit Locus, restart phone, start Locus, check whether backup directory is set, see directory name is in red, tap on that, am offered permission screen for the directory on external SD I set before, press OK, repeat etc.

Oki, I'll modify this to next version, so backup action will be delayed for additional five minutes and we will see if it helps.

If you did that for the current beta 3.29.2.8, it hasn't helped, I'm afraid.

Interesting. Maybe some bug in your motorola. Are you using some custom ROM?
I noticed same problem earlier from one user and if I remember correctly, we were not able to solve it.
How quickly after reboot this problem appear? Locus should check backups one minute after reboot is done, is it correct?

I'm using standard ROM. I don't get a toaster message every time but I think the backup directory fails the test every boot. All the other custom directories are on external SD card and are OK.
After a minute - that's about right, timewise but it does seem very soon after boot. My SD card is probably still initialising then.

New version in first post. Tunnel rendering changed to match OS maps better, plus minor bugfixes.

New update available in the first post in this thread.
Cleared up a few bugs (spurious stations on light rail tracks, rail station symbols appearing multiple times). Simplified underground waterways by not showing underground pipelines, streams, drains and ditches but only rivers and canals in tunnels.
Improved depiction of tunnels of all sorts.

Red toaster message on restarting phone: "Problem with backup directory".
I have all my custom directories set on the external SD card and they work fine apart from the backup directory which seems to lose its permission to access the external card on restarting. If I go into settings, I have to reconfirm permission for Locus to access that directory.

thanks for a video with map "stuck". Does this problem happen to you often? I have some feeling why this may happen and I know it will take at least a week to rewrite old system how map tiles are loaded. So wants to know, how serious this problem is ...

@menion: Beta expired today (1 March). Is there a new version being uploaded soon?

Multilingual (Mapsforge v4) maps from OpenAndroMaps can now be displayed with the included Voluntary Mapsforge theme, which is only offered as an option when a Mapsforge v4 map has been selected. Voluntary Mapsforge is as similar to Voluntary UK as possible.
Other changes:
- Addition of switchable tracks in City and Roads styles
- "Blue" icons darkened to improve visibility
- Buildings under construction shown in latest OAMmaps
- Cable cars now hang downwards in Voluntary Mapsforge and Cruiser/Orux version
- Velocity colours revised (track/residential/runway/military etc)
- Voluntary UK national/international cycle routes set to red labels (as UK signage)
- Rendering order and style of roads under construction changed
- Alignment of passes; abandoned and active mine and military bunker now shown on OAMaps.
- Peaks appear at zoom levels according to their local prominence on OAMaps.
- Bridges align for cycle tracks on OAMaps.
- Race track bridges, tunnels shown.
- Paths etc slimmed slightly

Just for fun, I've produced a theme that mimics the UK Ordnance Survey styles as far as possible. It's available for free download here.
