Sometimes I'm wondering how many features are in Locus that I don't know of :-P

Actually I own an xperia p, it runs okay. 5% is enough, just don't 'kill it it' :-) ( like Sony did with e.g. dialer. They did not add any new functionality but it became just slower with every update.)

Sorry no, I'm back on older SGS 2, to be able to test on low powered device ...

Really hats off! Good to see a developer who cares about the ones who don't want to buy a new phone every two years. It is really annoying that apps are getting bigger and slower thus making your phone slowly unusable, no matter how good it used to be. Please keep your good habit :-)

Other features / Re: Offline POI database

I hear  expressions like year of health, cancer, nature, statistics, etc. quite often. Now month of offline Poi :-D :-D
Joke aside, good to hear that :-)

Sometimes when I start locus the 'do you really want to exit' question is there after the loading of maps is finished.
Would it be possible to check for its existence and dismiss this dialog somehow if it is there unnecessarily?

On second side, all these prices for Locus, Gaia etc. are still very cheap (generally all software on Android platform). I think compare to other product you, as a people commonly buy in stone shop ... but this is another story :)

Off topic:
That is true. Locus was the second app I bought on play. I was really thinking about it, because I am still a student, but buying a printed map costs a lot compared to it! With turistautak.hu (and now open maps) it is really cool to use in Hungary. Having an incorporated geocaching.com was another selling point. I couldn't imagine that all my needs would be incorporated in one application. Another killer feature of Locus is the support of menion (and yours guys :-)) . I have not seen anything that would come close to it. (Offering options for the users, improving software but never forcing the users to certain behaviour (eg. Microsoft removing start menu)
Recently I do not use geocaching.com anymore as it tends to be a 'cache in every bush game'. Instead of that I use geocaching.hu. The concept is similar, however you have to grab a password from the cache to prove that you have been there, better cache description, more attention to detail. And I can do that with Locus and a cell phone instead of a GPS! (I know in professional use it cannot replace an outdoor device, but hey there is a garmin monterra in the shops if someone needs it :-))

On:
All in all: Locus is definitely reasonably priced in my opinion. Keeping maps separately available for pay is good for me as I won't really go to the US for example very often.

Really nice and fast, thank you! :-)

Hi!

I have noticed a small typo in the download map window, see the screenshot attached: instead of 'then' it should be 'than'.

There is a minor bug with the compass screen, (screenshots). I have chosen navigate to, and then opened the compass. As the distance decreased it changes over to the next point (distance is big again, then starts to decrease), however the name of the point is not updated to the current one.
Example:
>>Point 47 [290m - 129m] **change should occur here somewhere, since distance has increased** Point 48 [669m]
I have not tested it with navigate along track or guiding.

If it is critical then I would go for the safe option and choose Android. There are so many devices to choose from. It is better not to mess with the core of the system.

Found it: http://activityworkshop.net/software/gpsprune/
It's called gpsprune, well it does not look so fancy, but it is crossplatform. I will give MyTourBook a try too, the others are unfortunately built around the windows ecosystem.

edit
This mytourbook is really great!! I have been looking for something like this! Thanks for sharing :-)

Maps / Openmaps proper installation for Locus
January 12, 2014, 10:07:48
Hi!

I have just come accross this: http://openmaps.eu/mapsforgetheme?lang=en
Downloadable vectormap for central Europe, with SRTM and theme for best visual, and the best of all: with installation instructions. I was so happy to find it all together :)

I cannot believe this. Just switched off scaling for the map, and it is there.
There is no way this program can amaze me this many times :D

Hi!
I was wondering if it is possible to replicate the height rings inside Locus for vector maps, that have srtm data. I mean the lines that connect the points that are of identical height on the image below (e.g.:440m, 460m, 480m).

It would be more helpful than shading if I zoom in. Just a quick question, I don't know if it is map, theme related or possible at all, that's why I am asking :)
Have a nice weekend all :)

Hi!

Looks nice, I would love to give it a try if I had time. I have seen something once similar, will come back with the link if I have found it.
