If it's possible, i would like to add an OSM based map : OSM-FR which is a little more detailed than the standard mapnik for France.
@Chon
In first step (to add map into Locus Map) I'd like to know the difference between standard mapnik. Is the OSM-FR map really so important? I only want to avoid the situation to have the same maps in Locus app.
Thanks

It's more on menion...anyway SRTM1 hgt file contains 9 times more data then SRTM3 file. For this reason hill shading with SRTM1 files is more time and power consuming.

You need the *.hgt files but honestly we didn't download them from NASA or USGS. Please see http://www.viewfinderpanoramas.org/dem3.html  where is possible to download *.hgt file in packages for bigger areas. But it seems that new released SRTM1 files aren't available here. So sorry I can't give you any clue where or how to download new SRTM1 data. But if you find out how to download them ..I'd like to know it :)

I know ...but it should work.. :)

Hmm strange. I've checked again that you're member of Google+  page. Unfortunately I cannot check if you're a member of beta testing group. I don't have permission for this and menion is on vacation. It has to be some google's mess :)
What happens if you click on "Become member" again? Does it show you that you're already a member? Have you tried to search Locus GIS in Google Play app?

I see... unfortunately text labels or captions are our nightmare in Locus vector maps. We're still little bit limited because the library behind (mapsforge) and we aren't able to works with text as we want. Sorry for that

@tommi
there are two steps:
1. join to G+ group  and then
2. become member of testing group (link is in right panel on the G+ page)

After that link should works but there is sometimes delay for example one hour because google needs to propagate settings across google's services

Yes, Locus is able to read the SRTM1 hgt files. Put them into folder Locus/data/SRTM as standartd SRTM3 files. And thank you for information about release SRTM1 for rest of the world - I didn't know it. Honestly not sure if we use it because SRTM1 files have 10x bigger size then SRTM3 files. We also had  some troubles with contour lines on the border of coverage of SRTM3 and SRTM1 areas. Hovewer good to know. Thank you.

Hello Christian,

It seems that you know the SRTM data. Locus and probably OpenCycleMap use similar data for contour lines. Locus use SRTM3 dataset which you can imagine as grid of points on Earth surface. This grid has resolution approximately 90 meters. Narrow canyon may not influence the altitude or contour lines because simple there are no data from the canyon. I have to also notice that accuracy of SRTM data in elevation is about 5 - 10 meters. This is another reason why canyon may not be "visible" in the data.
SRTM can not detect such small changes in earth surface.

Locus Map is not able to use two WMS maps.Hovewer I can suggest to try Locus GIS. Locus GIS is still in development but it's almost ready for release. If you want to try the last beta version, plase follow these steps:

1.
You need to join into Google Plus beta tester page. Please ask for membership on page https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities/102467663728153787419/members?cfem=1

2.
On Google+ site (in right panel) is direct link "Become member" where you can join into members of testing group. Then you can also Open Google Play application and search for Locus GIS or visit the web page: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=menion.android.locus.gis to install Locus GIS

Please feel free to test it, create projects, import/export SHPfiles ..etc. We'll appreciate any comments, ideas, bugs report... Unfortunately the Google+ page is little bit unusable for us because we can not categorize your requests or issues. For this reason I'd like to ask you for writing requests on our help desk

Themes - Vector maps / Re: Train/Metro station icon

Train/Metro station icon.

Thank you guys. I can't remember why I removed the symbol for railway=station. It's bug but I'm sure that there was any reason for it. I've probably wanted to remove it because I wanted to get rid of red circle from railway platform. Who knows :)  Anyway I'll fix it.

As John already wrote some subway station may not be marked properly. There is another issue. The subway stations that are about 30m under ground can have different entrace in comparison with the the position of the station in the data (I'm not sure if I express correctly). However I'll focus on subway_entrace tag that would be helpful.

Iternal city theme is quite poor (ehm). Based on your sugestion:
-  to hide place of workship in lower zoom-levels
- little bit highlight the subway lines
- to differentiate railway and subway station
- to show subway_entrace

Hi,
there was probably similar discussion one year ago where somebody noticed that highway labels are too huge. On the other hand there are another users for them are labels important (also for me). Unfortunately for us is quite complicated to automatically limit the number of labels in case that area of interest contains lots of motorways or highways. We also have to find some balance between city areas (lots data) and country side. We can change the size of labels or not render labels in this zoom-level but this is wrong solution from my opinion  However does it really complicate the usage of map?

Hi,

It isn't needed to import KMZ if you have already copied map into locus/mapItems. So please:
-  copy file into Locus/mapItems.
- start Locus and open menu > data > tab Items.
- here you can see the names of KMZ files. Please tap on it file and file will be highlighted. Thats means that file/map is visible. You can enable more then one file.

If you want to turnoff background map. You can choose Maps > Online > Blank
