Other features / Re: Locator Beacon and tracking
February 10, 2021, 10:22:46
Just in case OP still inetersted

ive doen the same thing using locus and tasker as mentioned by  lor74cas above
but to receive and parse the SMS, that is a phone/tasker function really
also it wont work on all phones, ie MIUI devices

ie tasker reads incoming SMS,   gets lat and long
opens locus and the sepcified lat and long....

Also tasker can integrate with existing live tracking platform
ie locus, or tasker can update live tracking.
which means tasker can receive incoming SMS, parse and update livetracking with gps tracker devices rather than gps location of teh android device.

locus is simply the specific app to open geo url
the process is done by tasker.

Locus Map Watch / Re: Locus at wrist
January 13, 2021, 10:04:03
This is a huge disadvantage with all round watches
a phone like ticwris max might be more suitable.
I tried it with an emulator at the correct resolution and that seemed to work ( 640x480 for the max)

Bluestacks emulator works great as well

also scrcpy which is usb cable screen mirroring is a great way to control phone from PC

Also anydesk works as well, which is similar to teamviewer

and motorola phones should be getting something like dex soon

Just FYI, beta seems to be working and syncing fine using bluestacks, for those people who want to try it without risking their phone install.

Tools / Re: c-me live tracking
January 04, 2021, 18:43:38
Thanks gynta for your excellent project

one of the main reasons ive been using c-me rather than native locus live tracking is the tasker integration, as I can make a quick upload of a single gps position very quickly from a single one line tasker task.
so i generally do this once an hour during the day.

Then my wife has my kml file as a map item,    job done,
just had a look at the c-me website, my position is there as of 40 minutes ago, but the google maps is grey and has a development purposes only watermark, but to be honest this doesnt matter at all.
I also have a 300 pt snail trail of my travels viewing from the webpage, which i dont think current locus livetracking has.

So it would be great if gynta kept c-me up....but i understand if its time to take it down....
Many Thanks

14hrs a day gps for multiple days is too much for just the internal battery of smartphone

I would advise a few battery packs like
https://www.amazon.co.uk/VOOE-solar-power-bank/dp/B07V7XSVBJ/ref=sr_1_23?crid=3MZMKUCNUOYIG&dchild=1&keywords=solar+battery+charger&qid=1608661551&quartzVehicle=29-405&replacementKeywords=solar+battery&sprefix=solar+battery%2Caps%2C172&sr=8-23

i suspect its the battery saver causing issues as it will kill a lot of services to eek out a bit more battery

Im currently using GCam_7.3.018_Urnyx05-v2.1_Wichaya_V3.0.apk
which i got from
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog1485/
get the config to go with motoG8 power as well

the telephoto on G8 is great, with digital zoom on the telephoto, im using it like a small monocular, and comparing quality, when using digital zoom, its about the same a my small plastiic clip on 8x monocular due to less lens distortion,    so telephotos on smartphones are great for outdoor use!!
while pizel phones have computational advantage for the end result, i like having good telephoto in the live view.

meant for how many hours at a time do you want to use GPS

ie is for a 4 hour hike?
or is it more liek 24 hours.
only got phone in september so havent used it out much.

in normal every day use i often find the G8 lasts about 3-4 days between recharging.

Yes that was my post about Gcam,    i find the lens on G8power great, especiallycompared to otehr budget phones
did a test compared to 64mp on xiaomi note 9 pro, and found G8 to be better, especially using zoom.

the gcam app I only really use for night mode and astrophotography.  the stock camera app seems better for otehr modes.

the G9 power doesnt look as good- no telephoto.

might get motorola zoom one v2 if one comes out.  telephoto, standard and wide angle all in one phone is great for outdoors use.

I use it all the time and I will use always ;-)
Why do You ask me about it ?

BTW : I found Your probably post here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/gcam-mod.4066783/page-3 about gcam in Motorola. Did You installed gcam apk for G8 Power for foto camera ?

G8 much better than G9

i love the telephoto lens

ive justed tested with battery saver
seems fine
but I do have locus running as service and was route recording

the gs service could be hampered by battery saver, so Iwouldnt recommend

how long to you want to use locus for?

#42
deelite

I think this can be done, but not 100% clear on what you want
ive done soemthing similar
i use tasker to do manual updates and also start live tracking using gyntas c-me server and using tasker

tasker sending automatic telegram is a bit more complicated...

feel free to PM me if you dont want to clutter forum...

Hi
Yes, I use G8 Power
confirm hardware compass
works very nicely with locus pro
map rotates automatically
great phone for use with locus mainly because of huge battery

i can be track recording for hours....

even in normal daily work use i only get to 70% battery at end of day
ive had it go 5 days before needing to charge sometimes

there are 2 versions, the US version is called G power not G8 power, and doesnt have the telephoto lens
that version may not have compass
a lot of phone with cheaper mediatek CPU dont have compass.

Also the telephoto lens is great, while 8mp, is nifty

in the UK the G8 power can be had new for £150 ish from ebay when they have coupons

Hi
I know there is a feature request freeze but just to clarify on a planned feature, it would be really good if the simple webpage part didnt require login, or if it could be set to a specific user centered on them, this would be really usefull as currently Gyntas system does this perfectly and as we can only have one livetracking service at a time, i wouldnt be able to change over for daily use untill it does.

Thanks Menion
