Hi Menion,
as a faithful and convinced locus user I am surely interested to get this problem fixed. I already installed catlog and tried it out (works perfecty), but it will last a few days till I can send you a log due to weather and the fact I can't predict when the problem will occur. I will report asap.

Thanks joa

Hi guys,

I have this problem for month: About every second time I use Locus for track recording during biking, I notice after some time that my position on the map gets "frozen", that means the map on the screen will suddenly move no further. I have to stop track recording and close the app and after a restart track recording will work fine. This problem only appears once on a tour, never had it twice. It mostly appears after about 20 min of biking, but today for the first time it was later (after about 50 min). First it happened in january, I think (Locus Version 2.9 or so), so I first thought it came from low temperature but it also happened with more warmth and no update since cured the issue. Complete reboot of my phone didn't help either.

Any of you masters of Locus got an idea? It's really ennoying 'cause every second or third track recording is spoiled.

Locus Version 2.12 and vector maps from openandroidmaps.org

Hi guys,
I'm very glad that you all give your best to help and in fact the solution pmoravec proposed, works on my phone, too. Need to change the "brightness behaviour" of Locus to "system settings", then the Screen on-App to "Let it dim" and it's just like before. Not as comfortable as before (two more clicks  ;) ), but works quite well. Maybe Menion can keep this in mind and find some day some other battery saving tool within locus.
I wonder why only few people use this option. Do you all have such big batteries or do only short bike tours?  ;)
Thank you again joa

Hi menion, about the missing "dim"settings: could you please consider that again? I wonder that so less people are using this. On my device (Sony xperia active, android 4.0) it makes a huge difference in battery consumption, about 12 or 13% per hour with mostly dimmed screen vs. much more than 20% per hour without the dim option. So this is a huge affection of usability. I always have to be sure that the battery is fully charged before the tour (not very spontaneous) and tours above 4 hours or so are no longer possible without recharge or external battery. Problem is that my device holder for the bike handle bar covers the on/off-switch, so if I use the system settings for the display brightness and the display shuts off, I can't shut it on again without taking the device from the holder. You see, this setting is very important for me. So please, consider this problem again. Maybe you can find another solution.
Until then: is there any download possibility for version 2.11?
Thanks and regards joa

Yes Menion, this is exactly what I mean. It's gone. Can you bring it back?

Hi Menion,
updated version 2.12 today, after that did a bike tour and unfortunately noticed, that one of my favorite features of Locus Pro seemed to be gone: the possibility that the device display gets dimmed after a while and gets to full lightness again just by touching it. It was in the general options menue. It was a very useful feature because it saved a lot of battery. Why has it disappeared and - please - can you put it back again?

jurais, I understand that perfectly. It was just a hint for menion, if he will do the regular maps generating and updating (some day), that he'll hopefully make that whole germany map version, as till now there are only the "Bundeslaender"-parts. What you do is absolutely great development work, but you said by yourself that you won't make the regular updating work.

@menion: if you will do that (and I'd appreciate that very much) could you please include a map for whole Germany then. Mapsforge provides that (it's about 700 MB which is in my opinion not too much; o.k. with contour lines it will be a little more) and it's much better to handle than the separate "Bundeslaender". I'm using the mapsforge version of whole Germany but of course it's without contour lines.

Sorry, just found it by myself. I should have read the topic more thoroughly. Now it works and looks real nice!!! I'm very curious on Germany.
Thanks so much for your work.

Thanks jurajs, this makes me hopeful. But I'm just facing another problem: I can't see the contour lines. I just downloaded two of your maps (Luxembourg and Bosnia-Hercegovina) to see how it looks like, but on my device (Sony Ericsson Xperia active, Android 2.3) no contour lines are displayed, it's just the normal mapsforge maps. In the maps settings I can still choose the "osmarender" theme, nothing else. What's wrong? I'm using Locus 2.3.0.

Thanks Joachim

What a pity! So I hope someone (maybe you, Menion?) will provide and update the mapsforge maps including contour lines, because this is a very big step towards perfect nice topographic maps to be used for biking, hiking and so on.

Thanks all of you for your work. It's such a benefit for people like me who just want to use those maps.

Hello,

this topic is about what I was waiting for a long time: contour lines for vector maps. But why not use the new Locus feature which makes possible to overlay maps. I would find it much easier to generate contour lines as a separate layer because they don't need to be updated like the maps. So you could have the mapsforge maps as one layer and the contour lines as another. Unfortunately I don't know nothing about generating maps, but perhaps someone in this forum does and could provide those contour line maps?

Thanks Joachim
