http://openptmap.org/ uses a overlay to show open transportation routes
http://www.openstreetbrowser.org have also a overlay with this routes, it looks a little different.

Because I didn't find Terms of use for this servers, I hope the Tile usage policy of OSM should be right. https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tile_usage_policy

@admin, if you don't like it without a custom Terms of use, feel free to remove this post.

if it does not exist, create a /sdcard/locus/mapsOnline/custom/provider.xml and insert this text:
If it already exist edit it and just insert the <provider*> ... </provider> stuff inside the <providers> ... </providers> xml tags.
<provider id="10226" type="0" visible="true" required="false" background="-1">

<mode>OpenPTMap Public Transport overlay</mode>

http://openptmap.org/tiles/{z}/{x}/{y}.png

<zoomPart>{z}-8</zoomPart>
<zoomMin>12</zoomMin>
<zoomMax>25</zoomMax>
<tileSize>256</tileSize>
<attribution>Route overlay tiles come from http://openptmap.org, Terms of Use: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tile_usage_policy</attribution>
</provider>
<provider id="10227" type="0" visible="true" required="false" background="-1">

<tileSize>256</tileSize>
<attribution>Route overlay tiles come from http://openstreetbrowser.org, Terms of Use: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tile_usage_policy</attribution>
</provider>

Now you have new maps you can use as overlays in 2.3.X (Main menu / Functions / Map overlays), you can add this function to the right toolbar for quicker use...

Because they don't have a Terms of use on their page, you should not download tiles at all, just use it in onlinemode when you need it.

If you download them, you should never redownload them, because they will not change.

Edit: better name and added load balacing for the toolserver.
Edit2: fixed the missing zoomPart.

http://cycling.lonvia.de have route overlays for different outdoor activities.

Terms of use: http://cycling.lonvia.de/en/help/copyright

Don't overuse it. Before you go doing your activity, you should go on the website, get the gpx for the route (you can download it there), put it in locus and just directly use the gpx and/or only download the tiles along this gpx path.

if it does not exist, create a /sdcard/locus/mapsOnline/custom/provider.xml and insert this text, or download the attached version (rename from providers.xml.txt to providers.xml):

Maps / [MAP Overlay] Weather Forecast Tiles
May 01, 2012, 13:04:26
Hi,

http://www.openseamap.org have weather forecast overlays.
Terms of use: http://www.bluewater-info.net/wiki_/Hel ... ther_tiles
More Infor: http://www.bluewater-info.net/wiki_/Help:Weather_tiles

About the forecasttime (from http://www.bluewater-info.net/wiki_/Help:Weather_tiles):

Now the forcast time is following with "t/". Actually "t" can have the following values: 5, 7, 9, 11, 15, 19, 23 or 27. A more detailed description for "t":
    1 means, that the forecast time is identical with the "starttime" of the forecast witch is already a little bit in the past. The reason for this: The starttime is the moment when the NOAA-server starts with the calculation of the forecast. After about 6h the calculation is finished and the data ist avialable..
    Each increasing of "t" by 1 moves the forecast time 3h to the future. If the starttime of the forecast is e.g. 13.7.2010 6:00 UTC, then "t=10" results in a forecast for 14.7.2010 12:00 UTC.
    Due to the fact that openportguide.org is automaticly using the newest NOAA forecast, the forecast time of you request has alwaysmore or less the same distance to the actual time.

I used "5" in the tileurl.

if it does not exist, create a /sdcard/locus/mapsOnline/custom/provider.xml and insert this text, or download the attached version (rename from providers.xml.txt to providers.xml):
If it already exist edit it and just insert the <provider*> ... </provider> stuff inside the <providers> ... </providers> xml tags.

Now you have new maps you can use as overlays in 2.3.X (Main menu / Functions / Map overlays), you can add this function to the right toolbar for quicker use...

To get actual data after u used it, you have to run clear cache on the online map (Map manager / Tools button on the right side of the map in the list / Clear cache). You can also set the "Valid for"

We should be able to disable this text. Looks not so good on overlays.

I think best use on (S)AMOLED Displays.

Based on the RGB Theme.

Changes to the RGB Theme:
- made Areas dark
- made Tracks and Cycleways bigger
- made Streets smaller (with stroke-dasharray)

Todo: Change the POI Iconcolor (its currently blue)

This is just the osmarendertheme with differen (black) icons.

Because I don't like the osmarender icons that much and I found this great collection of map icons: http://www.sjjb.co.uk/mapicons/introduction I decided to make a osmarender with these Icons.
From the http://www.sjjb.co.uk/mapicons/download ... 021.tar.gz I took the 24pix black glow icons I could found for the existing symbols and changed it.
And they have the icons in other colors too, so I can just take the other colors for the rgb night maps.
And because they already have different sizes, its easy to get smaller or bigger icons.

Still missing:
cable_car.png, chair_lift_2.png, gondola.png, kindergarten.png, oneway.png, railway-crossing.png, railway-crossing-small.png, tree.png, vulcan.png
If someone with better english can find the symbols in the collection...

First Version:

[attachment=0:1xdrw5c1]rgbnight.png[/attachment:1xdrw5c1]
I included Red, Green and Blue theme.

What I did:
I took the osmarendertheme.
I simply did some regex replace.
I took all colorcodes and just removed the green and blue values. (I just shifted the red in the green and blue versions)
I lowered all the area fill colors F*->9* E*->8* D*->7* etc.
Then I changed the the caption to be white with black outline. (don't know why its not possible to make a fill value on pathtext)

On the red and blue I changed three of the pattern files and inverted the color. There is still work to do. If anyone...
Feel free to copy it and make it looks better.

@menion: Feel free to put it in the shop. Just put a link to this post...

Themes - Vector maps / [Theme] green nightways
March 29, 2012, 07:32:35
If we could share our custom themes in here...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How to use the themes:

1. Get vector map running.
2. put the themes in /sdcard/Locus/mapsVector/_themes/

Should be like:
/sdcard/Locus/mapsVector/_themes/Themename1/Themename1.xml
/sdcard/Locus/mapsVector/_themes/Themename2/Themename2.xml
...

3. Select the theme in Settings -> Map - advanced -> Theme of the maps
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My first and really simple green Nightmap. Use it on bicycle, don't need a lot of information, so only the ways in green.

Maps / Maps for hdpi and xhdpi
March 14, 2012, 23:21:23
While we still wait for the new mapsforge vector map library, I got a nice looking hires map on my galaxy note by using the tiles from cloudmade. They have extra tiles for hires displays.

http://developers.cloudmade.com/project ... /documents

You can use any map style from http://maps.cloudmade.com/.

I made a second map for bicycle in night which looks fine on amoled (better than the nightmode in locus)
http://maps.cloudmade.com/?styleId=51148

I don't know the regulations for tile downloading on cloudmade, so use with care. I used the slowest setting in mobac.

If you don't need it now, you can wait for the new vector library with better resolution handling and custom map styles...
