The version of the mapsforge-mapfile-writer.jar was 0.24.  I updated to 0.40.1 of osmosis and 0.30 of mapsforge-mapfile-writer.jar and it created a file that Locus worked with.  0.40.1 was the latest version of osmosis that would work with mapsforge-mapfile-writer.jar.  Newer versions of osmosis failed with this plugin.

Thank you,

I posted a similar problem at https://getsatisfaction.com/locus/topic ... ith_2_11_0

I had created the province maps from a larger country map.  The country map was current and still worked fine in Locus.  I created the province maps using osmosis 0.39.

I had the problem well before 2.9.x.  I was just setting up a new tablet and decided to check to see if there had been a response to my posting.  I think what happened is that in setting up my tablet I added the directory with out realizing that Locus would find the mapsVector under Locus without needing the entry.  I removed it and the duplicate entries disappeared.  Thank you,

This situation occurs with my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7 tablet but not on my Samsung Galaxy S phone.  I tried to configure both devices identically.  I do not know what version this started with or if it has been this way all along.  I should have asked about this some time ago.

Each of the maps in my vectors maps directory shows up twice in the Maps - Vector selection list.  If I delete the map both entries go away.  If I put the map back two entries show up again.  I have tried deleting all the maps.  I have the Locus directory on my external sdcard.  I removed the initial Locus directory on my internal sdcard.

Add-ons & Co-apps / Re: Addon GSAK database
February 10, 2013, 05:15:40
I had hoped to leave a feature request but see by a prior post it may not be responded to.  I will leave it just in case.

I store Waymarks in my GSAK database.  They do not show up in Locus through the GSAK addon.  I can create a GPX and import them but avoiding that is the point of this addon.  It would be nice if they are included through the addon.

Thank you,

Doug Peterson

The Author had stopped the development due to his being too busy elsewhere. However, the code of the add-on is open for development by somebody else: https://github.com/radimvaculik/LocusAddonGsakDatabase

I should have logged in some time ago to say thank you for the quick fix.  It worked.

I used SugarSync on my phone to back up many files, many of which were on my external card.  I had less memory internally with my tablet and more memory on the external card.  Coincidentally gcFieldNotes.txt was one.  Backing up my apk and data files was more important.

The "Retrieve from" selection for logging a trackable has the word "null" in it versus what I assume should be the cache name.  I am running 2.8.4.

I have my units as Imperial (ft/mi).  The projection Distance field now shows the units as feet but still appears to do the calculation in meters.  The last time I did a projection it had seemed that the only option was to calculate in meters and that was what was indicated in the field prompt.  I am hoping the change in the field prompt meant that the calculation was now going to be in whatever units had been chosen.

When I bought my new tablet, I found the external sdcard was no longer mounted underneath the internal sdcard.  It was only accessible through /mnt.  Some applications restrict the filesystem to the internal sdcard and what is underneath it.  In other words, they prevent browsing the root of the filesystem so it is not possible to see /mnt.  At that point those applications (like SugarSync) can no longer see the external sdcard.  This was my problem as well.

My solution was to root the tablet and install a script manager.  I wrote a one line shell script to remount the external card underneath the internal card.  A technically better solution would be to edit the equivalent fstab to mount the external card natively there.  I was not sure I completely understood it at the time so I went with the quicker solution, at least for me.

I see them now.  I did not use the selections in Guide To.  The selections I used for caching were all in the other one where Radar remained.  I have happily reinstalled 2.8.3.  Thank you for the help.

The radar option seems to have changed in 2.8.2 and 2.8.3.  When I selected radar on a cache in 2.8.1 it would give an option of Locus Pro or GPS Status, which I have installed on my phone (Samsung Galaxy S) and tablet (Samsung Tab 2.)  Now it appears the radar option goes directly to GPS Status.  I do not seem to have an option to go to the interal Locus radar.  I looked through settings to see if there was some option now but I did not see any.  I may be missing something here.

I use a bluetooth GPS received with my phone because the internal GPS is very poor.  The problem here is that I would have to use an external program to manage the bluetooth GPS (such as Bluetooth GPS) for GPS Status.  This is then in conflict with the Locus internal bluetooth GPS management.  If I turn the Locus bluetooth GPS off Locus does not see the externally managed bluetooth GPS.

I checked GPS Status on my tablet with Locus as the tablet has good GPS (my phone's GPS won't function indoors.)  It did work with GPS Status.  I did notice that no navigation information (e.g., distance to cache) showed up on the map.  I use navigation on maps, especially satellite maps, more than I actually use a compass or radar.

So for my phone I am pretty much stuck right now reinstalling 2.8.1.  It is too frustrating to use the poor internal GPS and I primarily use my phone (not tablet) for caching and referring to maps.

I had tried a couple of different options from that selection screen to see if any revealed the coordinates.  I had thought I selected the one that said Coordinates but I clearly had not or at least "missed" when I tried.  I can see the coordinates now.  Thank you for the prompt clarification.

I had updated to Locus Pro 2.8.0.  I was trying to add a waypoint.  The coordinates for the waypoint were no longer displayed on the screen.  I seemed to only be able to pick a method for adding a waypoint, such as the center of the map.  I tried editing an existing waypoint and it was the same situation.  Has this coordinate editing capability been moved some place else or been removed?  Am I missing something here?

I was trying to add the waypoint as part of a multi-stage geocache.  It is not easy to do a multi-stage or puzzle cache without this capability.  I had a backup file for the prior version of Locus which I restored in order to continue.

Thank you,
