Ok, guys, I will eat my hat and 3.24.xx is good. After some serious logging and emailing with Menion I found out that the track style on the map in combination with a quite big track, creates the slugginess I see at higher zoom levels.
We prefer a track style with arrows and that one asks for a lot of processing power at higher zoom levels, above 20 or so. This came up since we nowadays combine hiking with geoacaching. Coming close to the cache, we use to zoom in a lot, up to max 22 level. Then the phone freezes. Switching to a straight line track style does not freeze it.

I will try this one after our present holiday but yesterday after a serious hike with guiding and some geocaching, I dumped 3.23.2 if favour of 3.21.1  Every new version of Locus seems to need more memory and processing power. Our older Moto G's (mine the original, hers the Moto G 2014 dual sim, the last one with a compass) kept freezing for several seconds, the heading line went crazy in spite of compass calibrations. On a given moment the heading line was spinning around like a crazy clock. Several reboots/restarts of Locus on both phone's and (wat felt like) probably a higher battery consumption.
Setting both to "only hardware compass" helped a bit but it seems the older (manual setting) for the orientation filter was far easier on the processing power than the new "automatic" (not accessible by user) setting.
Not much use my reaction for the moment because we have a weeks hiking to go and after that I will try to give better information.

Nein, aber schon in irgendeine Verzeichnis am android phone ablegen und dan in Locus importieren geht natürlich auch.

Thanks Menion; nothing urgent but "everyone likes something different"  That's why I like the selectable fields in guiding-mode. Heck, I even can select "Name of waypoint" for those who are forgetting where they go. 

I am on 3.14.2 and when guiding to a point, I think the screen is not optimal.
The third bar from the top (SCHIPHOL) is too high and the blue arrow is pretty useless.

But most of all I would like to have the double panel like in guiding on a track with selectable fields.

@Jusc: mein Moto G 2013 hat laut specs noch eine wasser-abweisende interne Beschichtung.
Bei der G 2014 wird davon nicht mehr geredet.

Die Displays kann man sogar unter der Alpen Sonne noch nutzen (helligkeit auf automatisch aber dan mit dem Rucken in den Sonne stehen). Heligkeit kan höher und Alpensonne ist die ultieme Test, denke ich.

Ubrigens um ehrlich zu sein, mein 16 gB/kein SD card model, wird nicht ewig bei mir bleiben. Ich wil mehr Platz haben.
Im moment wurde ich die G2014 mit SD card fassen (aber dann mit silikon-fassung weil es keine orginal Grip Shell gibt).
Und ohne Gripshell war das ding schon langst tot gewesen.

@jusc: das Vorbild mit 5 Stunden recording kannte nur ca 30 minuten screen on Zeit. Wenn es lauft dan lauft es.

Aber ich schaffe auch locker 9 stunden Guiding mit zb 2,5 Stunden screen on, da ich bei Guiding naturlich ofters checken muss bei Piepsen wegen "zu weit von der Strecke".

Im Natur mach ich weiter nichts also kein FB oder Whatssapp und kein mobile verbindung (weil meistens im Ausland).

Ich muss da noch ein bischen nachdenken aber Accu's sind meistens erst nach 10 Zyklen normalisiert.
GPS war aber ca 1h15 m an? Auch nach der ca 20 minuten Locus zeit. Ist irgend was hangen geblieben.

Die procenten sagen nicht soviel. Naturlich ist Locus oben dran wenn du nur Locus benutzt hast.

Hier gibts wirklich nichts vergleichbares mit meinem Moto g 2013 oder mit der G 2014 von meine Frau.

 

Hmm, alle Noname und auch Asus tablets ohne SIM womit die Nachwuchs hier herum spielt, gehen tadellos an Google Play Store.

Sol auch bestimt ein (elektro) magnetisches Kompass haben. Ohne macht Locus weniger spass weil man im stehen keine Ausrichtung bekomt zb bei Guiding.
Daher hat meine Frau gewechselt von eine noname zu ein Moto G 2014 dual sim + sd card 5". Jetzt beherst Sie auch "guiding" . Mit Android 4.4.4, und ein hauseigene Motorola standard-trick sind alle Vector Karten auf Sd card gelagert. Super Batterie, Glonass, schnelle GPS-fix, helles Display aber nicht wasserdicht. (Pass auf: ich wage es bis jetzt nicht auf Lollipop zu updaten; ich habe Angst das dann die SD-Karte funktionalitat verloren geht.

Vonwegen ein/aus Hardware Button: Locus lässt sich extrem konfigurieren. Zb. das das Schirm kurz angeht bei richtingsänderung und voice-guiding gibts auch.

Sorry fur die Späte Antwort; ich bekam kerine Benachrichtung vom Forum.

Locus kan nichts dafür. Es ist GPS bedingt. GPS Systeme können Ausrichtung erst dann berechnen ab eine gewisse schnelle Positions wechsel. Genau so ist es mit eine TomTom die nicht mit Fahrzeug Sensoren ist verbunden.

Meine Einstellung ist sogar 3 m/sec also uber 10 km/h. Und meine Frau ist jetzt glucklich mit der Moto G 2014 mit Hardware Kompass. Sie mag die Kartendrehung beim Hiken; ich nutze die fast nie.
