Twenty seconds and some mercyless zooming later:

I am not kidding... :)

Sorry to spoil the party menion... but the "unknown problem" when zooming around RMAPs or SQLITEmaps is still there. Did you actually try to fix it? This is not something "obscure" that only happens once in a lifetime. I can reproduce it within just a few seconds with each single one of my raster maps.

This is a NEW BUG that appeared when your changes included something about "map loading totally rewritten". It worked flawlessly in previous versions.

Latest version shows strange behaviour when using full-world-maps. Install
http://www.openandromaps.org/maps/world/World.zip
and zoom out massively (World 00 20% or something). Then scroll. Waypoints jump around wildly. The map jumps around as well.

Missing tiles ("unknown problem") still present in 2.14.1.8

I dont understand the power usage argument. You have to load the new map data anyway when zooming ends. It's just a matter of loading it earlier and maybe keeping different zoom levels cached a bit longer. The only argument I could understand was "too much time consuming programming work required to make it work smoothly". But that sucks as it shows me a useless white screen as long as I dont remove my fingers.

Then again... maybe all zooming problems and all horrible-3-fps-slownewss-track-display-problems will be solved automatically by a future OpenGL version, that is probably very close to being finished :-)).

related: it would be SO NICE to have the map data updated WHILE zooming, not just when zooming is finished. otherwise the whole zooming process feels more like being on a commodore 64 in the early eighties. most phones have four cpus these days... use them :-).

2.14.1.7. still fails with "unknown problem" when zooming out rmaps from time to time. happens with double-tap-and-hold as well as with pinch-and-zoom. maybe related to starting another zoom operation while the first one is still "updating" map data?
#218
Using the new double tap and hold zooming, some tiles sometimes stay empty after zooming out. Locus simply displays "unknown problem". This is for RMAPs. Maybe a more specific error message in the tile would help spot the problem immediately :)

ps, could you update the expiry time please? one week is a bit harsh when on the road in offline territory :/

pps, i just lost the status of track selection again after a reboot. maybe it has something to do with the autobackup feature and trying to start locus too quickly?

sorting tracks by name doesnt work in the new beta. the track list is messed up nicely.

I am not having much luck with Locus clipboard parsing lately. It seems to fail even at the most often used formats. I really wish it were a bit more intelligent and parse everything and its dog automatically. I know its a lot to ask for, but it would make things a lot easier.

Maybe there is an intelligent online service that does this kind of parsing? So if Locus fails itself, it could post the thing off to geohash or googlemaps or wikifoobar or whatever and come up with a proper point.

Nice feature. I am just testing it with Pyrenees.map from openandromaps and spain poi database. Renamed openandros "Pyrenees.map" to "spain.osm.map" and it seems to work.

Will I be able to use multiple poi databases at once? Many (or most?) interesting regions when touring Europe are "cross border", like Pyrenees or Alps. In the alps, even day trips with three countries are quite common.

getsatisfaction doesnt even work from free wifi hotspots in bars most of the time either... so doesnt really have anything to do with mobile network or not. just with the country. but anyway... cant be helped. if menion doesnt read the forum or insists on a few dozen votes before acting, i guess its bad luck for customized url sharing :-)

i have tried getsatisfaction from just about every country in europe (south of germany) and it hardly ever works, most of the time the host is simply unreachable. sometimes you can fool the filters or the routing or whatever by using "auth.getsatisfaction.com" for browsing. but in general, this website is just a super major pain in the ass. i have no idea why it is blocked in 80% of all countries, but apparently it is. either it has something to do with the name or they are with a shady hosting service or godknowswhat. fact is... i can basically only use it when i am at home on my dsl line. which i almost never am. greetings from asturias :-)

I would. But as always... getsatisfaction is totally unreachable from most european mobile networks. Pain in the ass if you ask me... maybe some porn blocking due to the silly name... :)?!
