Download can be triggered via "+ Fill altitude" for points or tracks from Locus' Data manager.

Wenn ja, dann bedeutet die Spitze des Dreiecks die Richtung in der Du dich bewegst und der Kreis daß Du stehst (bzw. Locus nimmt das jeweils an).

and did you tried to fill altitude for points/track etc?

I tried it now with 2.0.1.4. It's amazing, the track I recorded earlier today with the bad altitude got now quite exact altitude information!

However the user interface for this is a bit beta:
Process Download, after few seconds "Process successful", but stays still in the Fill altitude menu.
Altitude didn't get filled in the track.
Then I press again Download and now after "Process successful" it returns from the menu and the altitude is filled in in the track.

In addition the file <coordinates>.hgt.zip should be removed after download.

Nevertheless a beautiful new feature which just needs a bit more fine tuning.

seems like no one tried testing version from dropbox. I was curious what you think about small surprise. Ok, I'll release surprise now ... offline altitude calculation from SRTM files is implemented as most wanted Idea on getSatisfaction ... (and bonus is direct automatic download of missing files from internet) ...

Did you check your GPS settings (Locus->Settings->GPS and location)?
Maybe you have GPS auto-off ticked? In your case I would recommend to remove the tick from this setting.
If this doesn't help you should report the complete settings in the GPS and location menu.

This is the rare case of a win-win idea (on your side saves storage and traffic costs and on Locus' user side it saves download time.

Btw. when downloading America maps I was only able to make successful downloads if I ticked only one map. If I selected more than one map for download the download stopped after the first map (and all the other selections vanished). This seems to have something to do with Amazon S3 because in versions before you used that service the problem wasn't there also for America maps.

Du kannst offline navigieren aber Du musst vorher online die Route generieren. Offline Route generieren geht derzeit noch nicht, hierbei setzt auf Locus auf das Mapsforge Projekt und das liefert diese Funktionalität noch nicht.

nun reicht es mir - programm kaufen okai, aber dann immer noch mehr zusätzliche Dinge kaufen müssen um so nach und nach den vollen Umfang zu bekommen, das will und kann ich mir auch nicht leisten

Soviel hast Du ja für Locus nicht ausgegeben wenn man den in Frage kommenden Preis für das Touchpad zum Vergleich heranzieht.

Berkley, die OSM-Vektorkarten sind super was die Informationsfülle und prinzipiell auch die Optik angeht. Nur an der unterschiedlichen Darstellung der ganzen Bandbreite möglicher Arten von Straßen sollte gearbeitet werden. Z.B. kann man eine asphaltierte Straße nicht wirklich von einem Feldweg unterscheiden. Dies ist aber keine Eigenschaft von OSM sondern der Mapsforge Library und um das geht es hier.

Canary Isles are part of spain.osm.map

uups, they *were* part of the spanish map. In the current version of the vector maps they are gone.
@Menion: Can you tell us were to find them?

Ich hatte verstanden, daß dieses Stylefile beim Rendern sprich Anzeigen wirkt und nicht beim Erzeugen des .map Files.
Insofern würden die Karten dadurch nicht beeinflusst sondern lediglich bei der Anzeige könnte man einstellen was man wie sehen will was dann eher für einige Settings oder einen Editor für das Stylefile sprechen würde.

Regarding the amount of traffic: You could reduce it at least by ~50% if you provide compressed map files.
Especially those huge maps for areas with very few information shrink down more than 90%.
Should be an easy task for you - compress (e.g. zip) files on server, uncompress in Locus after download.
If you wish, I can add this wish on getsatisfaction, too.
