@lor74ca
Thank you for your feedback :). Your idea with possibility of overlay layer with opacity makes sense. We do not have it on our road map for next months. I would recommend / ask you for a favor to create idea on the help desk so others can vote for it and watch progress ;).

@Žajdík Josef
Thank you very much for testing import functionality. I am sorry but "send to planner" action is not very nice ... we are thinking how to improve it and define more automatically generated waypoints.

Quote... , but there is a possibility to add the route cant.
I am sorry, I do not understand what you mean ... feel free to explain in Czech if its easier for you ;). Thx

@lor74cas, @Andrew Heard thank's a lot for the clarification. Now I totally understand and believe I have a good news for you. I am just working on extension of elevation chart. After that you should have distance / time toggle for x axis.

Hi there, I am sorry to miss your latest posts. As mentioned by @Menion I didn't receive or just overlooked notification in email.

First of all, thank you for your feedback! From now on I am not publishing release notes here - I have finally integrated it into web planner. You can access it here: https://web.locusmap.app/?show_changelog or by clicking version located in the bottom right of the map.

@francisco - via Points. Yes, it is on our list but not a priority right now. Please, feel free to create it as an idea and collect votes for it - https://help.locusmap.eu/topics/idea/status/all/category/30/sort/popular/page/1

@balloni - sorry, custom icons are not supported.

@lor74cas
1) timestamps - please, can you describe this in more detail? Importing via web planner is not supported ...
2) Undo button - it's on our list but not a priority for next months.

-- New major release --
Hello there. I am really happy to announce that after several months we have finally managed to reach our next big milestone. I have just deployed to the production:

  • Points integrated into MyLibrary
  • Multi-content support - place several tracks on the map or display several point groups
  • Added icons into MyLibrary items
  • Added state remembering when switching between Planning and MyLibrary tab

Feedback is highly appropriated :-). Thnaks for checking. ... and for sure have fun ;-)

@Andrew Heard
1) Higher resolution elevation data - yes, I know :-). We would be really happy to do this but it is a little bit bigger challenge than it seems to be. Although it looks we are still postponing this and it will never happen I still believe we could do this within one year.

@flabb17
1) Joint venture - Never say never :D ... but we have, I would say, our unique vision of web planner. Although it is still basic in the most areas we have really huge list of improvements. This would be really hard to do in the partnership :).

@francisco
1) Can't get your location - oh, this is very strange. Debugging geolocation API is quiet challenging but I will try to have a second look on it ;). Thanks for reporting

Hello 2012, cloud sync of map items and offline maps is not planned at the moment and I do not think that we will consider adding this in the near future.

@WujTom
1) Website with statistics - If you think per user statistics then YES, we have it on the list. But there is still a lot more important stuff to do so I am not so brave to give here any eta. If you want to give it higher priority, please, feel free to create idea on the help desk and let others vote for it ;-)

@Hennes
1) Elevation difference between web and mobile app - unfortunately, this can happen quiet easily.
- We have separate code base for web and Android and mobile app much more advanced than web (additional elevation data processing and filtering). We are working on unification in order to give you the same results on the web and in the mobile app.
- Web is using elevation data set with ~100m resolution (not absolutely sure). In the mobile app you can have (manually downloaded) more precious ~30m resolution data set.

@WujTom
We plan to implement this "POI category search" in the search. E.g. you type "shelt" and "Shelter" category will be offered in result for you. When you click it closest N results will be highlighted in the map. This is almost implemented in our API waiting for me to implement it in the web planner. Unfortunately, I have a lot of work with bringing points and multi-content alive. So, please, give us some time :)

Hi there, sorry for the delayed reply. I had vacation. Thank you for all the feedback. Most of it is already written down to tickets BUT we have just started implementing long awaited and quiet big feature - points and multi-content. Thank you for being patient with no progress in other areas of web planner.

@Žajdík Josef
Search results - you are right. Unfortunately there are multiple parts that should be improved and we plan to cover it in more robust way. It will need extra time, so hopefully end of this year ...

@Viajero Perdido
Manual routing and elevation - thanks for explaining your use case. It makes sense. We will try to implement it this way. But, currently it is not on our high priority list so at least for some time you will have to use mobile app planner for this.

@WujTom
1) Waypoints with name - no, it is planned
2) Export without navigation waypoints - also planned

@Žajdík Josef
You are right, there is already ticket for this to improve. If nothing urgent jumps in I should implement this within next 4 weeks.

@Franky123
Creating account from Web planner is not possible right now. We plan to add it but it is not the priority for us ... so not ETA here.

@Viajero Perdido
Yes, this should be improved. But, we will probably only load elevation for waypoints .... so no elevation profile between will be calculated (difference from the app). Will this be big issue for you? This manual routing is meant as "fallback" solution when you can not use standard routing.

@lor74cas
Thanks.

@habanr
1) GPX import - this is planned but currently no ETA
2) Editing saved track - I am working on it right now. I believe that next week it could be live ;)

@Andrew Heard, lor74cas
Yes, we know, this is kind of tradeoff. Web planner is not intended only for planning but also for exploring. When you are in exploring mode, you do not want accidentally click into map and start routing. We plan to add separate tab for the browsing later so it will be obvious if you are in planning (plan tab) or exploring  (explore tab).

@lor74cas
Expanding and collapsing waypoints - is it still happening? I can not reproduce it (Chrome, Firefox, Safari)

#27
There was no change on our side that I am aware of. Please, let us know with more details when you are experiencing this issue again.
#28
@zossebart It is really hard to answer without knowing details. Please, create a support ticket on our help desk (https://help.locusmap.eu/) so we can investigate further.

Anyway, when you have large database it will definitely take some time to sync it (sync speed should be ~30k items / hour). Only changed items are synced. So when synchronization is interrupted  it does not start from the beginning but continues from where it stopped.

New features in web planner
I am listing all the features added after LM4 lunch (April, beginning of May).

  • Elevation statistics in the planner tab
  • Altitude formatter - using only ft/m
  • Saved track detail - added elevation chart
  • Remove waypoint from the map - using context menu (right click)
  • Modify planned route by drag&drop everywhere on the segment (previously only possible by red handle placed in the middle of the segment)
  • Show / hide waypoints in order to prevent moving statistics out of the screen
  • Recalculate all segments
  • And several bug fixes and minor improvements :)

And we are working hard to bring you another set of new features soon. Thank you for your trust and support!

Hi everybody! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I am sorry for the response delay. I have been quite bussy with the Web Planner past weeks. In the next post I am going to sum up all new great features :). Thanks again for your support. I am looking forward for your feedback.

@Viajero Perdido
1) Thank you for your reply. I will take it into consideration.
2) Sharing planned tracks - yes, current solution is not the best one (flag of the tracks is changed and sync in triggered). We have much better solution on our mind - I have to discuss this with @Menion but I hope that we can implement it quiet soon.
3) Period in the link - oh, this is a good point which we were not aware of. I will try to think about possible improvement (it is not so easy as it can look like).

@lor74cas
1) Visible last update date - I totally understand your point but unfortunately (what I know) we are using external service for hosting LoMaps and we have no API integration to know when update happened. And doing this manually ... no, no - it would be soon out of sync and would cause much more harm then good.
2) Confusing color - we are aware of this issue. To be honest there is no perfect choice. There will be always some color conflict with the underlying map. We plan to offer color customization in the future which should hopefully limit this problem (like you can do it in the mobile app).
3) Elevation in tunnels - thanks for the example. I am not sure you are right ... for sure there are strange elevation "jumps" but mountain above has elevation around 130m above the sea and elevation displayed in the chart is at most 98m above the sea. Anyway, we would like to improve this but it will probably require change in the Brouter internals so I am not sure when this will happen ...

@nibby
1) Display multiple tracks - sure, this is our planned multicontent feature which we have in the pipeline. See: https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/23769-web-planner-display-multiple-tracks

@Henned
1) GPX import - not yet implemented, but planned. For now, you have to use import in the LocusMap mobile app and then sync it.

@Andrew Heard
1) First waypoint is not selected - this is intended behavior. You have to intentionally start planning (right click -> start/finish here, select waypoint, add POI to the route) in order to active "routing mode"

@raadoo
1) Edit route - yes, this is on our list and should be implemented soon (~1 month).
2) Change of routing profiles - actually, I am working on this right now. So you can most probably expect it within one week ;-)
3) Other questions - More or less they are collected as ideas for improvement. Please, have a look and vote - https://help.locusmap.eu/topics/all/status/all/category/30/sort/new_updated/page/1. If something is not there, please, add idea and others vote.

@freischneider
1) Public high level plan - yes, this is definitely a good idea. We are thinking about the best way of communicating this.
