Tools / AW: Track editor (GPX)
February 17, 2012, 13:51:50
Hi,

I used successfully GPSPrune on Linux and Windows systems.

Hint: Just type in one coordinate like N50 E10 in Point and you will see the map.

GPSPrune is perfect for editing tracks and it's totally free :-)

Cheers,

René

Other features / Re: Voice NAVIGATION
October 09, 2011, 09:16:42
not sure to be right here, I have a little point that i miss.

When I use Locus Pro with Navigation (MapQuest...) and I minimize Locus, there is no entry in the status-bar like using record a track. So may be it is not clear that locus is still running.

Please move this replay if needed.

Thank you.

Hi Menion,

a little correction in your sample-file (sorry for my accuracy): the voice R2D2 should renamed in C3PO, cause R2D2 can unfortunately not speak in words :-)

Hi,

did someone the steps above to create voice-files and have the possibility to share it in a compressed file?
Ok, I did'nt try it. But a collection of languages (like the vector-maps) would be great to download or directly to install ;-)

Thanks a lot!

Hi Menion,

I did'nt find any entry here for an auto-routing option :-)

Would'nt it be nice to have an option to automatically recalculate/refresh (with some parameters like recalculate when xx m off the route, recalculate automatically or recalc only when confirmed...) the route when I'm off the route? This option is of course only possible with an internet connection.

Cheers,

Under review / Re: tagged pics

Thinking about a bit more, I'ld like to shorten my wish :-) (hoping to reduce confusion)

The second point will not be interesting for the most users.

The first one I think has potential improvement. So let me define it more preceise:

"Please extend the existing funtion POI+ Photo by adding Route/POI-Information like position, track-name in the exif-data of the picture."

The idea is to have a folder or container which includes all information about a route/track:
 - track data
 - POIs
 - pictures
 - additional information (text, voice-notes...)
This container is easy to find and to give it to a friend. Other Locus user can open the container an see all information of the route/track on the map with symbols for POIs, pictures, additional information along the track. So other ones can see e.g. what I have seen on holidays :-)

Implemented / Re: speed dependent zoom
August 05, 2011, 18:51:45
I would'nt fix the speedsteps on speed values.

I prefere a percentage zoom. On a bicycle you will allways be under 30 mph.

Just let us set a max speed or vehicle to get the hole range.

Max speed = e.g. 40 kph

Speedlevel1 0 - (20% of max speed)kph
Speedlevel2 (1) - (40% of max speed)kph
Speedlevel3 (2) - (60% of max speed)kph
Speedlevel4 (3) - (80% of max speed)kph
Speedlevel5 (4) - (100% of max speed)kph

Hi all,

Menion asked me to write my idea here, so I will do it :-)
I use Locus now for several weeks, on bicycle trips, walking tours in the alps... and I love this program.

On my tours of course I made some pictures with my smartphone. Here I would like to have some features to use pics in Locus ;-)

1. Documentation and Routing

On a route I would like to collect pics in a route-folder with tags (location, height, date, orientation, coordinates, track, symbol of pictures on the map...). So I could reproduce the route, give it to a friend or find quickly nice pictures from this route. So it would be nice to have a Menu-button to quickly make a picture with auto-save mode in this route-folder, instead to leave locus, swith the camera on, take a picture and move it in a browser to the right folder and go back to locus. This could be solved by the existing function "POI-add with photo". Just add foto-settings like (resolution...) in the settings, use special route-folder to find and store them easily and save the route-informations in the pictures exif-data. This would be great. :-D

2. Roadbook

This could be a nice feature beside geocaching. "Find something only by following pictures." The pictures can be normal pictures or graphical instructions like "go 340m, then turn left" or "follow the direction 274° for 2,56 km" may be with additional informations like "on km 45,56 be careful, the way is not clear"... Instead of the arrow-pics in the sample-graphic I can imagine to have real pictures, made on a tour (see above).
I used a roadbook on several motorcycle rallyes and love to navigate with.

Maps / Re: [MAPS] - Vector maps
August 05, 2011, 10:07:10
Hi Berkley,

Hi Menion,

I also would like to have such an option. I was on a 2 week tour over Austria ans Slovenia and used Locus the whole time on my bicycle :-)
That was the very best way to cycle exact on the right track (see attached picture). To let the screen on at any time, of course I need electric power. That was easy with the e-werk (http://www.bumm.de/produkte/e-werk/e-werk.html) - a genious part!
The last day of our tour we had rain, so the rain drops causes chaos on the phone by tabbing on buttons, lines, other apps..... The Phone I use is a Motorola Defy, so rain is no problem (it's water proof  :D ).

To add a feature to protect the screen makes sense for me. Please think about this option. Thanks a lot for the Locus-app - in my opinion the best gps-app!

Cheers,

René
