Troubles & Questions / Downloading maps
December 04, 2011, 17:17:52
Hello,
Unfortunately, I downloaded the last version of Locus. And I saw that among the three worldwide map source, one disappeared, so that only Mapquest and OSM remain.
But there is worse. OSM does not want to be downloaded, and the downloading of Mapquest does not work at all (nothing happens). Locus had (unfortunately I have to use the past)  a huge advantage. It could be used offline.
This seems to be finished. When you must be online, of couse, on Android, the simplest way is to use google maps, absolutely no reason why using anything else. I hope that Locus will come back, and for that it must be able to work offline it was its only advantage compared with other systems, but it was huge.
Regards.

Hi
I often use Locus when travelling on vehicules I do not drive, for example trains, just to know where I am. In the meantime I use my tablet for other purposes, by reducing Locus. Of course when I go back to Locus I don't like to wait for the "fix" of the GPS to have my position, this can be long. So that I use the settings of locus to make it keeping the GPS working when Locus is minimized. This worked perfectly well with the 1.3 version, but not on the  version  1.4. This version stops the GPS regardless the settings when it is minimized.
The only workaround seems to start a task such as the POI alerting. In this case, Locus keeps the GPS active when it is minimized. Anyway, it would be more convenient if the settings keeping the GPS active when Locus is minimized worked properly, like in  version 1.3
Best regards and thanks for this extremely useful software
