Simply turning off the device without further touching LM will do the job for me. Quite robust & reliable.

Quote from: DIDYM13 on August 27, 2023, 17:32:00Quite Menion !!
When I'm in navigation mode, I feel like "the map is on a turntable" and some guy is kicking it with a quick spin on direction changes.
@Menion @DIDYM13 - is this a compass smoothing issue? I have config.cfg hardware_compass_filter=50 which is the maximum value and I recall a long time ago this worked well, but when walking these days, or stopped as a cyclist, the map rotates far less smoothly than I remember/ expect/ hope-for with filter=50.

Regards the latest 4.18.2 online search results & sharing from Google Maps. For me, it's the same experience as reported in previous beta 4.17.2.4 @ https://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?topic=8436.msg72716#msg72716. Although the release notes mention search improvement (maybe compared to 4.17.0??), so I didn't notice any change.

It sounds like an aggressive power saving mode on the S23. Many people report such experience. I'd investigate Android power saving settings.

Locus Map / Re: [APP] - version 4.18.+ ( 8/2023 )
August 03, 2023, 00:56:16
Sharing of my own created "red push pin" from GMaps to LM4 now works - thanks! But sharing of existing GMaps POI doesn't work/ has different behavior to 4.17. Now LM4 Search will display the shared link as text, for example https://maps.app.goo.gl/zmQaPsNkSRVfqtDn6, and display "No search results" rather than moving to that point. When I open this example URL in my web browser, it displays the correct POI.

Quote from: TrulloF on July 27, 2023, 21:06:16Unfortunately I can't download the latest beta from Google Drive. It always gives me
a 404 error.
just rechecked - file download (4.17.2.4) OK for me; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_404

Quote from: Andrew Heard on July 01, 2023, 09:42:15The latest LM4 beta 4.17.2.3 online search appears to have gone "backwards" regards to sharing with Google Maps....
The latest LM4 beta 4.17.2.4 appears to have gone further "backwards" or at least sideways? My simple use-case, which to be honest is just a hack workaround, because LM4 search is not capable (sorry guys), is
  • Google Maps app
  • long tap to create red push-pin
  • drag-scroll to find the Share option
  • tap Share
  • tap LM
  • now observe, even worse than in 4.17.2.3 LM displays a list of POI over 20,000km away
BUT with correct local address 1km away and no way I can find to re-position to that local address - "so close yet so far" ;-( Funny - at least the list items are sorted by distance ;-(

Google Maps app:

LM4 Online Search results after tapping the GMap Share button:

BUT I can confirm that a long tap in LM4 will also display the correct address:

The Google Maps website shows many results much closer than 20,000km, including the desired one, and which LM would also correctly find:

probably been mentioned before, but every time I use online search I feel I'm battling/ pushing uphill; example search for close-by road in Web Planner - first three suggestions are on the other side of the earth; why aren't these suggestions sorted by distance to the users position?

Lemmy if you are able, try editing config.cfg in the Locus app folder with plain text editor.

My settings:
# NAVIGATION
# --------------------------------

# times before command, when Locus notify (in seconds), default is: 15|35|300
navigation_announcements_times=30|180|600

I hope you had a nice break.

Quote from: Menion on July 11, 2023, 10:48:04thanks for the report regards BlueStack, but to be true, since Windows sub-system for Android work perfectly
@Menion - I recall long time ago BlueStacks was an LM suggestion. I spent a long time trying to get Windows sub-system for Android working, and posted a few comments/ questions for help, but no one helped. Maybe it's easier now. Is there an up-to-date procedure for installing it?

Another example of inconsistent online search . Screen caps from the web planner but identical results in LM4.

Search for "Lower Crescent, Belfast, Ireland" - the closest Belfast result in 1.3km away although unrelated to "Lower Crescent". Note I had positioned map to show Lower Crescent only a few metres away. Why not sorted by distance? Also note LM4 displays the distance but not the web planner.
You cannot view this attachment.

BUT the important point, search for "Lower Crs - now the correct results are displayed, but still not at the top of the list given they are the closest, and the "best match".
You cannot view this attachment.

Results displayed as "Crescent" but actually best to search for the abbreviation "Crs".
My Locus online searching experience is often a real hard battle ;-(

Quote from: Graf Geo on June 22, 2023, 13:13:25@ Gerhard: For me, the number of points was also not correct at first. After I have switched off all (with the new brush icon) and then have shown again several points, the number is now correct for me.
exactly same for me - I think LM & SqLite database had been out-of-sync due to LM crash(s)

Quote from: T-mo on June 22, 2023, 21:00:24- opening of side panel has a small moment of stuck, not completely smooth
for me (as previously posted) it is larger moment of "stuck" - many seconds, yes an older device sure but non-beta side panel opens immediately

Quote from: T-mo on June 22, 2023, 21:00:24- pic expert settings - value might be strange, don't know. I better leave it like it is
5000% is same on my 3 devices, strange but I believe OK

Quote from: luce on June 22, 2023, 21:22:18I also would suggest using the "30/16500" numbers as feedback after the long click, but what about graying the "30" out? Greyed out icons or words are normally understood as "inactive". That would indicate that the 30 tracks are inactive at the moment but still loaded. A second long click would display the "30" in black again
agree but with the small number font height I wonder whether grey or black will be distinguishable/ obvious?

Quote from: Menion on June 21, 2023, 21:37:49The secondary function, by the long click, is the temporary hide of all points/tracks.
@Menion the new long tap doesn't provide any visual feedback. You don't know whether anything has changed or the long tap has done anything until you return to the map. Could the long tap also return directly to the map?

I don't mind either way, as it's a good visual reminder of a temporary situation

@menion will test better next week, 2 devices, Only 1 with error, probably my issue.
