Locus Map / Re: [APP] - version 4.19.+ ( 9/2023 )

Quote from: settler on November 03, 2023, 11:53:55Hello,
I added the external profile "River" from Brouter Offline and see it in the LoRouter Offline settings.
But unfortunately, in "active profiles" you cannot add your own profile, for example with a "boat" icon or something like that. Therefore, we had to take a "motorcycle" and give it a "river" profile.

Maybe there is a way to set the correct icon for your external navigator profile?

Unfortunately, this is not yet possible. But there is already a proposal and you can vote for it.

Well, could I add "location=underground" to LoMaps for the next release if that helps?

I think your situation is probably recoverable
Edit2: Set "default encoding" to utf8 in settings, instead of auto detect. Works.

I've added emojis to the latest release.

If anyone has experience with emoji representation in text files, I'm all ears. Quickedit+ now slaughtered it after I included them. It picked Windows-1252 encoding and now see screenshots...

Thanks for mentioning the Tapiola theme; I wouldn't have noticed it.  First impressions are good.

I tried out the new V4 LoMaps too.  One thing that bugs me is: none of the OAM (V4/V5) themes in my collection, including this new one, show lake names.  It seems only Locus internal themes show lake names with LoMaps V4.

I may have to switch to LoMaps (depending on the fate of OAM), and would be stuck with a greatly reduced choice of themes if I want to see lake names ... which I consider essential.  Is it practical to fix this?

PS, I like how OAM handles lake (or similar object) names.  If multiple lakes share a common name in a relation (name=Pretty Lakes, example), it draws the name once at the centroid of the relation.  This is tidier than drawing the name on each of the (sometimes many) lakes, IMHO.

Hi Andrey, I created a fork of it, I hope this is OK. But still I'm a bit clueless about Github though, wasn't even sure if forking is the right thing to do.

I have some different preferences. Tamed peaks a bit, gave weight to city/town/village/neighborhood names, also to parking/shelters/picnic_sites/viewpoints.

Wanted to have friendlier greens, it's a difficult affair, probably due to partial transparency and layering. What I wanted to achieve is what I now have in ZL14+. But lower ZL are different. Didn't find the issue yet.

Is it just me?

In preset edit dialog there are two settings with description "display or hide xyz".
What means setting enabled in this case? Is enabled stands for display or for hide ?
For me it's not clear. I just guess enabled means display.

Is it not enough to use just "Display xyz"?
Like "Display Navigation statistics"

It's not only in english language. Also in others.

I think @settler may be correct about the river name taking unwanted priority. If I recollect correctly, I found pathtexts didn't  respect display priorities I had set. But I can't remember the details.

Trail markings, have you made changes? Most ones with text (eg. X1 trail) show no text, just a black box.

@Settler, what do you think about what we discussed above... https://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?topic=8393.msg71164#msg71164
I noticed you made no changes here.
With display=always, "Lüdinghausen" is displayed and written on top of the river name. Which is good. Without it, it's not displayed at all in OAM Germany at Zl12.

Also I noticed, your releases also carry the version number inside the zip, the folder name. This way our Presets lose their link to your theme and we have to reconfigure (or rename your zip+inside folder).

Thanks.
It looks like I can force railway bridges over roads to render correctly without the correct layer tag (easy change) and also railway over railway (but I'm not sure if the added complexity to allow for incorrect mapping is merited).
Screenshot is of your location with modified theme.

The modified theme is available from:

Menion, could you add an expert setting to enable long-press on theme-button to directly jump to theme's StyleMenu for quick access, so overriding theme-selection dialog?

A variant of this option (expert setting) could be, normal click jumps to theme's stylemenu - to change settings of active theme (enable routes, trails etc., change style), and long-click to open themes-selection menu - to switch to another theme, which might be less often.

With expert setting enabled the icon might appear in e.g. neon-pink colour :D

Very good first impression. I like the many options. Display priorities seem pretty much how I like them.

Thank you!  First impressions are, I like it.

Oddly, I can't get it to appear in the themes list on my Android 13 tablet.  This is with Locus configured to use the /media/ path, and I even tried unzipping, also tried putting a copy in the /data/ path, even through that folder is otherwise empty and unused.

But it does work on my Android 9 phone, which is set to use the /data/ path, by simply dropping the same .zip into the usual place there.

That might be a Locus issue.  I can't see anything wrong with your theme, and other zipped themes adjacent to this one are showing up in the list just fine.  I tried restarting Locus, clearing cache, nothing helped.  But on the phone, it just worked, instantly.  Both devices are running the current non-beta Locus 4, with the same current OAM V5 maps.
