Hello Petr, hello menion,

Thank you for your answers.
But what is the reason that the scaling only works with the old maps?
I mainly use Locus outside with automatic zoom and map orientation in the direction of moving. It would be better anyway if the display of place names was independent of the map orientation. Just like  navigation devices for cars.
But on the sofa :-) I find the scaling very pleasant and helpful.
As far as I know, this was a unique selling point of Locus among the "outdoor" apps.
Are there any plans to implement this again?

Many thanks to both of you,
I'm somewhat surprised that such beautiful features no longer seem to work.

My other question is:
Is there a way to automatically scale city names, for example?
This used to be scale-font-size.
As far as I can see with the new maps and new themes, the names get smaller and smaller at higher zoom levels.

Themes - Vector maps / Old functions with new maps?
November 10, 2023, 16:01:41
Hello everyone,

some time ago I had developed a theme for the V3 vector maps. I would now like to start developing a theme for the V4/V5 maps
At that time, I remember that there were special functions that could only be used with Locus.
For example, I found the "growing" fonts or symbols like these very helpful:
<caption k="name" font-style="bold_italic" font-family="serif" font-size="16" fill="#7F0037" stroke="#ffffff" stroke-width="6.0" scale-font-size="15,1.3" /> or
<area src="file:patterns/military.svg" scale="1.1" scale-icon-size="14,1.2" />

Or the bg-rect... Functions like this:
<caption k="name" dy="0" font-style="bold" font-size="13" fill="#FFFFFF" scale-font-size="12,1.1" bg-rect-fill="#0100C8" bg-rect-stroke="#FFFFFFFF" bg-rect-over="5" bg-rect-stroke-width="2" bg-rect-rounded="3" />

You could do nice things with it, see screenshot:

Is this still available for the V4/V5 maps?

As promised,

after the change in Android for the app Locus Classic from optimized to non-optimized the track recording now works properly.

Thanks again
The request can be set to solved.

Hi Menion,

Thank you, good hint.
Locus was optimized, Geo tracker was not. I have changed it and will test it.
I'll be in touch.

My experience today:
While Locus (blue track) only records aerial lines when the display is switched off, the app Geo-Tracker (red track), which runs at the same time, works perfectly.

You cannot view this attachment.

Locus Map Classic runs as a service.
Disable when the application is running in the background == off
Turn on GPS during track recording == on
Turn on GPS during guidance == on
Authorisation Location always for Locus Map Classic

Any hints?

Hello,

one more note:
Today I recorded a track with the app Geo Tracker running in the background while I used Locus for map reading. While riding, the screen was mostly turned off.
The track recording was flawless, there were no dropouts or air lines between the points.

Hello,

I understand and I can test this.
@John, can you give me a hint what you changed in the SVGs?
Thanks in advance

One more question
Do you have to pay special attention to the track recording?
I have noticed that the tracks with the old S2 are recorded very accurately, always nicely following the road.
With the new S23 it looks like the GPS switches off in the meantime. It is often recorded points only as the crow flies.
When I look at the satellite page or in the app GPS status, almost always immediately about 30 satellites are displayed for the fix.
Do I need to do something else in Locus like "enable satellites in background"?
The setting for cycling is: 10m |5 s| 25m.

Hello all,

after a long time I now come to deal again more with Locus. I still have an older version of Locus Classic 3.33.2 that works well with the V3 maps and a theme I developed on my old Galaxy S2. On the new S23 Ultra runs the version 3.69.1 of Locus.
Unfortunately SVG patterns are not displayed there. If I swap an SVG for a PNG the pattern is displayed though. Can this be the case?
for example: Pattern is not shown:
<lineSymbol src="file:patterns/cliff.svg"  dx="1" repeat="true"  repeat-gap="0dp" scale="0.5" scale-icon-size="14,1.2" />
After the exchange of cliff.svg to cliff.png, it works:
<lineSymbol src="file:patterns/cliff.png"  dx="1" repeat="true"  repeat-gap="0dp" scale="0.5" scale-icon-size="14,1.2" />

Can that be?

Hello Menion,
I reloaded the Saxony V3 map from 2017 after years from Locus Store and later I made an update. But latest map ist a V4 map, that deleted the older one.
Now I'm No longer able to reload the V3 map.

Troubles & Questions / Latest V3 LoMaps

Hello,
Can I buy the latest version of some V3 LoMaps somewhere?

Thanks in advance

@Tobias,

Thank you, your reference is very helpful.
And now I understand, that for V4 maps Locus only provides a general theme and no specialized themes at the moment
Unfortunately a few (for me) needed attributes like "scale-icon-size", "scale-font-size" and "style" (missing in your reference) are not available with Mapsforge V4 maps.
So I hope, the LoMaps based on Mapsforge V3, will be available in the future.
