can anyone recommend a GPS track managing and editing tool for MAC outside Google Earth, and BaseCamp ??
Locus Pro is the first app for me that by far exceeds functionality of what can be done on my smartphone compared to my desktop computer... I am basically looking for the same functionality for track managing and editing for my desktop ;-)
If not possible on Mac - what about PC ?
If not... how about Locus Pro for Mac ??? Would love it !!!

Thanks and best regards, Volker

Troubles & Questions / Rotate map
October 26, 2015, 08:12:34
Hi,
I want to use the "Rotate map" function more - but unfortunately it is unusable for me because the map rotates so fast and much, that it becomes more difficult navigating while riding offroad.
Is there a a trick to slow the map rotation, kind of adding a buffer, a time delay??
I still use Locus almost every day (and love it!) and over time I just accepted that I have to use the map in a fixed direction.
But when I was recently (road-)navigating with Google maps, I realized that they use a different system for their map rotation - and it really makes a difference.
This is when I decided to bring up the topic and see if there is a fix...?

One other thing: I have a smartphone now that also reads Glonas satellites, Is Locus Pro using them?

Thanks in advance and best regards, Volker

hi,
I am using "Resolution of maps" and scale my maps with 2.00x.
But every time I restart the app and sometimes when I change maps, the checkbox is unticked and I will have to go back to "Settings / Map - advanced / Advanced settings" and re-activate "Resolution of Maps" - is it normal or wanted that Locus Pro keeps "forgetting" this setting? I really need this feature and it is always quite a few clicks to ge there and back and activate it again.

Troubles & Questions / "Problem with Map adding"
March 02, 2013, 12:40:55
Hi Menion,
it has been a long time... ;-)
I am still a heavy user of your awesome product (for dirt bike offroad navigation) and love it!
It is one of the top 5 apps on my phone ;-)

Now I have a little problem: after one of the recent updates I get the following error message every time I launch the app: "Problem with Map adding" see screenshot.

Any ideas?
Thank you in advance, best regards, Volker

Troubles & Questions / sharing challenges...
April 15, 2012, 19:32:29
hey, thank you for the quick and "interested" answer, I really appreciate it!
you are a star!!

join me on Facebook to see how I currently do it: it is a bit awkward, but get`s the job done...
and unfortunately there is no link to Locus Pro, which you would REALLY deserve!
http://www.facebook.com/volker.jacob
check out my post from 19.05pm today.

 - I make a screenshot of the current track (or select "share screen" - to Facebook, but since I will have to work with more screenshots later, it is easier for me this way....
 - then I make screenshots of the track data and the chart and post them as well
 - this way, Facebook displays: Volker just posted 3 new photos - and my friends can easily click through the track details

but unfortunately this is strictly "static" and doesn`t allow any interaction with the track...
And yes, you are right: the track will have to go to any site (Google Maps or GPSies) and then somehow come back to Facebook.
Again, check how MotionX GPS (for iPhone) does it, they got it perfected.

Best regards, Volker

Troubles & Questions / Re: MyMaps initiation
April 14, 2012, 18:57:15
Quote from: "air7"However, one feature I found extremely useful when working with MotionX GPS on the iphone, was the ability to "Share" a link of a track I just completed on Facebook etc. It was a link to the regular Google Maps displaying my track. that is great.

Hallo again,
I would like to come back to this question:
would there be any chance to implement a sharing functionality, that allows me to post a recorded track (i.e. a just completed hike) as a clickable link on a map to Facebook?
For me it would be added value to better share my hiking trails with friends and include all the details rather than the current functionality of just sharing the screen to Facebook.
For you, there is a lot of marketing potential when users share there adventures with clearly "Locus Pro" -labeled content to Facebook (as PR manager I am aware of the value ;-)

the workflow should be like this:
 - click on track (ideally even before saving)
 - click share
 - select social media platform (Facebook or other)
 - done...
 - on Facebook one should see a snapshot of the map and when you click on the path, the track information details should be displayed together with Locus Pro info

...possible ;-) ?
Best regards, Volker

sorry for the confusion: I used voice guidance in the car on the route from Switzerland to Spain.
Offroad, on the motorbike I would not hear it anyway. I have the phone mounted to the handlebar and just use "optical" guidance with the guide on, this works sufficiently. And when the right maps are chosen (the variety is another great feature of Locus) and the right resolution, plus a good color and size of the track to follow (awesome, that this is editable) it allows fast riding and hardly slows me down

Great THX !!
no problem, I will compute the reverse route from home next time and try to save it!
It is still amazing, what your app can do - including voice guidance etc: I had no trouble navigating from door to door over a 1000km :-)

And down there in Spain, we went offroading over the holidays. With Locus Pro I was able to record any track shown to us and then re-ride at will back and forth: awesome!
