Please make all panel buttons available as controls in dashboard editor so the GUI can be massively & freely adapted to each single users individual needs: Different screen sizes and proportions, different phone holders overlapping different parts of the screen, different text & button sizes from tiny to huge (gloves or strong vibrations like on a dirt bike), different layouts for different contexts/uses, different colors & icons for different lighting conditions and tastes,... More details in https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/28029-v4-gui-improvement-by-offering-more-freedom-of-panel-placement

That customization option would satify more users needs and allows to remove some UI settings, reducing app complexity.

@balloni55
your zip file contains some non-UTF8 characters and because of this, the app is unable to extract it (and crash).
I downloaded Tiramisu_3_0_2.zip from https://tartamillo.wordpress.com/tiramisu/ and it crashed Locus as expected. After renaming files containing Tiramisù to Tiramisu,  the theme worked and looked correct. So the crash seems not to be [only?] caused by files containing non-UTF8 characters, but already much simpler by filenamens containing UTF8-characters with certain (higher?) codepoints (here hex 00F9 or decimal 249). For an international application developed by a Czech team where accents are common, this is unexpected.

Would be great if that information was added in https://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:advanced:map_tools:theming or https://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:maps_locusmaps#map_themes
alongside information about ZIP support as posted in https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/shortcuts-to-legends#comment-84305 and https://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?topic=7632.msg66444#msg66444. Moreover, https://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:maps_locusmaps:legend might be completely deleted or extended by a note how to display the legend within the app.

In ZIP themes the lnk file simply has to consist of the name of the legend PDF file (assuming it is at the same top level as the XMLs).
To my experience, in Locus 3.56.5 the file OutdoorV4 2021-12-08.zip\Outdoor\Outdoor.lnk needs to contain Outdoor/Legende_Outdoor-Desert.pdf despite being a sibling of OutdoorV4 2021-12-08.zip\Outdoor\Outdoor.xml – so .xml and .lnk and .pdf are on same hierarchy level but directory within ZIP must be provided in .lnk file.

With v3.4.0 Locus supports MBTile map with interactive UTFgrid data layer, see http://www.locusmap.eu/news-version-3-4-0/

I've the impression UTFgrid could be a big step towards an Offline POI database: If a UTFgrid-enabled map was used as a map overlay, so over the vector map, it could show POI data as popup upon a tap, that is elsewise "locked away" within the mapsforge files - e.g. the phone number of a hut, opening hours of a supermarket, grades & routes & stone of a climbing spot. To me, it seems to be a very quick & easy yet clean way to make POI data accessible offline, because Locus seems to already have all required functionality - all we need is a transparent MBTile map with POI-info as UTFgrid.

The only thing I'm not sure of because I don't know the format well enough: Can we also search inside the data (string matching) and then retrieve the coordinates of matching data sets? I guess it's possible because the data is plain text and stored in a SQlite file, so SELECT * WHERE ... shall work.

And I do not mind that the map and it's data layer are separate files - this allows to update the data in another frequency than the map, reducing the download sizes.

how often you switch these vector maps?
In my everyday usage, once every few weeks, but during vacation, much more often - several times a day is not unusual, as joeloc wrote July 25, 2013, 13:12:10 during touring the Alps, even day trips with three countries are quite common, so during trip preparation (which trip looks nice? where could be go?...) I'm switching countries dozens of times per hour.

EN: In Setting > Track recording > recording conditions, a dialog appears with the German title ,,Aufzeichnungsbedingungnen" and we've the two options ,,beide" (both) and ,,ein" (one). The option ,,ein" (meaning ,,switched on" as well as the male version of ,,one thing") does not make sense here; it shall be replaced by ,,eine" (the female version of ,,one thing") as the dialog title substantive is female. As you can see, it will probably not be correct to replace all occurrences of ,,ein" with ,,eine", as ,,ein" has two meanings that can be relevant in Locus.
