interesting that root might have an effect here. I do not think so to be true. Maybe you are using a different version of the MicroG or you are using some cracked version of Locus Classic?

I'm definitely not using a cracked version. If so, I'd use it on my wife's phone, apparently, because I instead of asking here  ;) I have the same with some other paid apps: they work on my phone, if I installed them from my old phone's backup as root, but they don't work on my wife's phone. I also get regular updates for Locus from Aurora (Play Store client) and I'm using the stock MicroG version that comes with CalyxOS. The only difference to my wife's phone is that it was rooted (it's not any more), because I didn't want to lose all my apps' settings.

Locus 4 doesn't really appeal to me, otherwise I would have changed already. Been using the good ol' Locus for about 11 years now, so making any switch at all is tough now :-\

So I switched to CalyxOS end of last year, but I moved my app-settings over to the new phone as root. This worked fantastically well, Locus has been working ever since.
My wife just switched 2 days ago, but she never rooted her phone. She installed Locus 3 from scratch and 'lo and behold, it doesn't work, because it's trying to call some PlayStore license check I suppose. I didn't even know this was a thing with non-in-app-purchases. CalyxOS only has MicroG and Aurora store - no Google Play Services. Is there anything that can be done to stop that license-check if you're not root? It's annoying enough that In-App purchases don't work, but having no Locus? Ewww  :-[

Add-ons & Co-apps / Re: Addon - Geocaching

If I go to Data and then into one of my cache-folders and then chose to update several caches there, it seems to work like a re-import and I'm asked which folder to import these caches to. Is it possible to skip this question and simply chose the folder where the caches have been in? Sometimes I forget to change that folder and have them imported into the wrong one, since the last folder that has been used for imports is preselected.

Of course, the best solution would be if "updating" these caches would really only update them and not reimport them, but I bet it's a limitation you cannot circumvent. Can anything be done about this?

Hello all!

So I found what was causing the error: The map was in the root-directory of c:geo which creates 1 sub-dir for every known geocache. Since I have saved around 5.000 geocaches, this might have slowed down things alot. I moved the map to its own directory and voilĂ : startup in <3s. Sorry to have taken your precious time, I should have tried that before  :?

On my phone, the rendering of the vector maps is actually very fast, but the startup-time of Locus is around 1 min. I'm using the abovementioned map of Germany and the startup goes like this:

White screen (~10s)
Automatische Sicherung Intitialisierung... Eigene Karten (~50s)  (something like: Automated backup initializing... own maps)
And then the rest is just *boof* in 0.5s

Is there anything I can do to speed this up? Using online-maps, the startup is a matter of 3s max :(
