Hi bikers,
I'm currently choosing a device for longer trips (Balkan, Eastern Europe, gravel and asphalt). So far, I've been using a classic TomTom navigation or my phone. I'm afraid to use my phone because I don't want to damage my iPhone, and I know vibrations aren't good for it. TomTom has very limited maps, especially in the East, where the map often loses detail or coverage.
I've used Locus map before and it suited me very well, so I'm looking for a device that works well with these maps. I really like the offline map functionality. I don't want to mirror my phone, I don't want to charge two devices and deal with cables everywhere. I'd prefer something that can be directly connected to the motorcycle. I've also considered Garmin, but I don't want limited navigation again. So I prefer using Android.
My ideal setup:
-something readable in direct sunlight
-powered directly from the motorcycle
-resistant to vibrations
-capable of running navigation and apps long-term without issues
I've been looking at Carpe Iter, they have a new device that looks like exactly what I'm looking for. Does anyone have experience with them? Does anyone use their products? How does it work, and how is their support and warranty service? I really like it..So far, it seems like the best option I've seen. But I'm still gathering experiences.
What has worked well for you long-term in adventure travelling?
Many thanks to all!
