Depending on the routing engine you use, it most likely intentionally deprecates walking alongside main roads in order to give you a more pleasant walking experience.

@voldapet
Try this, which reproduces every time for me:
Map: LoMap Scotland
Theme: Internal Hike & Bike
Location: N 56.72078° , W 006.03068°
1. ZL 14
2. Now zoom out to ZL 13
3. Then zoom back to ZL 14. (Despite what I said earlier, no need for speed.) For me, extra contour lines appear, which can be noted by the increased darkness of the map
4. Lock the zoom and magnify the screen to see this more clearly.
Reset the theme or the map and the map image corrects itself.
The screenshots below are in this order.
The "fast fling" whereby I encountered the effect originally is unnecessary. The same effect happens with other themes and maps of the same area, and with or without hardware acceleration.

@voldapet, @ michaelbechtold
Thanks for the feedback. Normally the display is perfectly OK. I've done some more trials and I can reproduce the effect fairly reliably by a series of rapid "flings" of the map, moving the map before it has a chance to redraw completely. (In real life, this occured when moving quickly to a new location.) I can get the effect maybe one time out of ten or twenty. It seems to require an area with many contour lines but does not depend on zooming out to the world map. I have made it happen with OAMaps of GB and of UK_Scotland, and with the LoMap of Scotland. I have made it happen with my Voluntary theme and with the built in Hike & Bike theme. (By the way, I checked and contour lines are not duplicated in my theme.)
Once Locus is displaying the double contour lines, they continue to be displayed on zooming in or out, scaled appropriately. The duplicate set disappears on reloading the theme or the map.

@menion Thanks.

Under certain circumstances the (cubic-curved) contour lines on vector maps are drawn twice, differently. I think it may be to do with zooming in quickly from the world overview map when there is a high density of contours. See attachment. This is using a Mapsforge v3 map from OAM.

@menion. Thanks for response. Uninstalling and reinstalling Locus Pro worked, using back up and restore.
However:
- Restore did not restart the app, despite saying it would in 5 seconds
- Backup/Restore mangled some of the directory locations that I had set
- It's not user-friendly way of updating themes!
I understand your comments on bug reports.

1. as I see, the cache will be probably somewhere in /sdcard/Android/data/menion.android.locus/cache directory. Maybe subdirectory "mapcache".
2. hmm nothing un-usual reported as I see. Log needed, thanks.
3. In this case, also "Search in tracks" display also "0 m" distance and some non-sense results right? Maybe when you will do a log for case 2., do one more right after the search or this sort, because there have to be some issue visible in log too. Thanks
1. I've closed Locus, cleared all the files in the cache directory, restarted the phone, but the incorrect map icons persist.I read somewhere that svg files are bitmapped and cached at different sizes. That's what I want to clear, though it ought to happen automatically,
2. I've sent system crash reports. Do these come to you via Google?
3. Do Andrew's screenshots help? That's what I'm referring to.

1. I can't find any way to clear the cached images for mapsforge V4 themes. That is to say, I've changed the icon for "ruins" in a theme and the V3 theme displays the new image but the V4 theme doesn't. I've tried clearing the caches within Locus.
Edit:. The beta version displays ok.
2. The latest full and beta versions seem to crash an awful lot in use. Mainly on redrawing the screen on moving our zooming, I think.
3. "Sort tracks by nearest" doesn't work. All my tracks show "0" (in blue). I don't even understand how this is meant to work, compared to "sort by distance" to start and "sort by distance to end". Both those show a valid distance and sort correctly.

I believe that the background rectangle is not implemented for path text, despite the manual.

MapsForgeV4 themes: in the current version, you need V4 maps.
The question was about presets. Even if I have selected a V4 map and V4 theme, when I create or edit a preset, it only offers me standard V3 themes.

I'll attempt to show what I get, though the forum doesn't seem to like images at present and I've had to collect them as attachments at the end of this post.

I can´t get GH to work. I have installed AddonGraphHopper_16_0.7_release.apk and GH data via Locus action button. When I start the Addon, it just shows me the content of the data directory (here: germany.osm). I can click on it, but I can´t select it in any way.
This is correct behaviour. If you had routing data for more than one region you could select the appropriate region here.

In Locus I can select GH as offline service, but there are no routing profiles offered to me (if I click on the little symbol with the three lines on the right site) as in GH online or BRouter.
If you are referring to the "sliders" icon, I get different results with GraphHopper online & offline here. GH online gives options for avoid highways, avoid tolls, avoid ferries. GraphHopper offline just gives the option for the data file, just as when running the addon directly.

These routing profiles are missing in the route planner, too.
You should get a choice of profiles when you select Navigation. With GraphHopper online they are: Car, Cycle, MTB, racing (bike), Walk, Hike. With GraphHopper offline they are Fast (car). Fast (bike), MTB, Racing (bike), Hike.

If I select a crossing on the map and use it at navigation destination from the flyout, I get the error popup: Graphhopper cannot load notes.
That sounds like an error. have you tried reinstalling the addon and data?

I don´t know if it´s important, but I store all my maps on external SD. GH data are correctly copied to the external directory defined in settings.
External SD cards are notoriously difficult in Androids. Can you try moving the data to internal memory?

In beta, comparing to last release:
- wider font in header, and it doesn't fit sometimes.
Me too. I don't find this a very helpful change where screen real estate is at a premium.

I hope the forum will have a smartphone interface one day.
You can use the Tapatalk app if you want a smartphone interface. I do.

Did you try running Brouter directly, selecting the Download Manager option and downloading the routing data for the area you are interested in?
#554
Brouter 1.4.11 apk from the website is the same version number as I downloaded previously from Google store.

Search for Graphhopper in this forum. There are links in the *first* post to the apk and to routing data.
The following link may work
