@menion - suggest change "Smoothens GPS location.." to "Smooth GPS location..". Apparently "smoothen" is a word (https://www.dictionary.com/browse/smoothen), but uncommon.

For track recording auto-pause - does the "Google Services assisted location" setting need to be turned on? I'm just wondering why I've never seen auto-pause working.

In the new version and after upgrading to Android 13, the recording after AutoPause was restored after seven minutes. 7:37-7:44. See SCR.

Note. The recovery of the record takes a while and the record creates gaps, see SCR above. It would be good to change it and follow the record to the site of the pause.

UI - I think SET/Recalculate position should be swapped. Typically, bottom right has OK (what you could say "Set" is, and it was there before). In my quick workflow I almost end up recalculating all when I just wanted to change routing profile.

My thought precisely. "Special operation" in the lower right is a recipe for disaster ;)

where can I set that no router profiles are stored in the backup?
Until now a backup had the size of about 70MB for me, now this is 10 times larger :o

@balloni55 it is unlikely to be router profile files (.BRF ASCII) - I have 23 of them in Locus/router/profiles2 & total size is only 424KB (uncompressed). More likely to be router segment files (.rd5 binary) - mine are 10's of MB each & I now confirm they are backed up, which on closer inspection also explains why my last backup is larger - thanks for noticing & reporting! This may need further consideration @menion? Locus/mapsVector/themes are backed up - good, but I consider router segment files to be in same basket as map files, and shouldn't be backed up in "Back up all" process - unless there are checkboxes for user to explicitly say what they want to backup.

I think so that these files should not be backed up. And if they are, you should be able to deselect them in the Backup Manager. You can always get these files on the net. Routing profiles are partly very individual and should be backed up. There are already several users with the problem. https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/30170-backup-manager

used todays new Locus 4.13.1

Routeplanner:
when planning a track and selecting it on the map within the planner, then the track is shown like below
see bottom
Looks like Elevation profile starts appearing a 2nd time, but this is just part of the regular stats pane which slightly pops or moves up, so it's 'Elevation profile' is readable, and due to selecting another segment stats panel pops up, above.
Let me know if I shall create a video.Screenshot_20221215_Locus Map_compress.jpg

@Andrew Heard
not a direct mistake, but sorry for the confusion. Important is mainly the second number 1087 vs 1089. This is the internal numbering of public versions and it is always incrementing by +1 and can never go backward.

@jonny.blue
I noticed this during the weekend as well. I was trying to fix it and was unable to find out, why the geocaching.com server report any error. And hour later, the issue disappeared, uff. So most probably some issue on the geocaching.com server.

Hi Menione. Backup files sent to the cloud are too big. The last one has over 0.5 GB. Most of the space is occupied by the track.db (800 MB) file. It is unnecessary to back up routes and points for the Gold version because they are stored in the Webplaner. Would it be too difficult to miss these files for Gold users from autonatic backups?

I strongly oppose leaving out the *.db by default. As an option, ok, but in my view, this is an absolute necessity - you can never rely on online storage service, I want to be able to restore my database even when e.g. Locus Web is down.

And as a user option? Sending a large backup file is now so problematic that in most cases it will end in an error. Just leave the WiFi range and the deposit will not finish. A small file would be sent much faster.

Best would be to separate the backups into two zip files. One for the tracks DB, the other for all the rest. The second one is tiny in comparison, could be sent even via mobile internet. tracks.db is a killer after some years of activity.

This makes little sense, if I only want to save settings I can do it manually.
Automatically you always want to have tracks and points safe. And then it does not matter if the small settings are there.

Guys I had some ideas about backups, you may want to look. To summarize:

1.: Provide 3 backup sets: Everything, Settings only, User defined

2.: Allow to use any of those in Auto backup

https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/30245-allow-settings-only-backup-as-auto-backup-better-design-of-backup

Auto backup is currently unattractive for me because of tracks.db - I don't ever need it to be included into auto backup at all.

Not using sync, as long as it doesn't allow to exclude specific folders (I have little hope here.)

I agree with Freischneider, splitting zip does not feel good for me. Keep it simple.

Would be nice to not forget the no go area file in the backup.
I know it's in a completely different folder. But inside the backup it can be moved to somewhere else.

Track.db without no go area file might result in a different track after recalculation.

It was once addressed so that the No-Go points in the points folder get its own folder. There are also 2 suggestions on the subject.
https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/add-special-folder-for-managing-all-nogo-points
https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/add-waypointmap-no-go-points
With this solution, they would then also be secured.

It's even worse. Its not backed up nor synced via cloud.
Since the introduction of secured memory access in Android, a rooted phone is needed to manual save them.
How many Locus users have a rooted phone and enough knowledge to do it?

I can remember from earlier times that it was possible to indicate the maximum size when creating a zip file.  If the zip file was larger, it was automatically divided into several files with a serial number.  Is this an option to send smaller zip files?

Hi guys,

backups & its content ... seems I'll have to look at it and rewrite a backup setup completely. I believe that the best solution should be an option to setup the content of automatic and manual backups.

NoGo points ... I know I know. Another old story  ::)

And for all ... current, sometimes not working backups > will be fixed in next bug-fix version (in next few days), sorry for this.

Hello,
HEIC format is not supported in lopoints for adding user photos.

Heic photos are not geotagged like the jpg on the map.

There is no support for this image format in the app, but many devices are now using it in less space with better quality.

Do I have to choose, go back to jpg or convert the images I need from heic to jpg every time?
I hope locus can handle heic format soon.

@lor74cas - this denial of access is due to the access=no and foot=permissive character of a military road. It can be fixed and I make a remark for another round of profiles-fixes. But also this is a good example of a segment, where some kind of warning should be issued anyway. A military road can be closed (at least from OSM point of view) anytime. These warnings are something we started to consider.

A military road can be closed (at least from OSM point of view) anytime. These warnings are something we started to consider.
This military road is closed to unauthorized vehicles, access on foot is permitted.
At the time of the former Yugoslavia the border was very controlled, there were many military structures with dedicated access routes. Now the border is almost a memory but the roads and structures have remained. If these roads are not taken into account by the planner then the routes created in these places will not be usable.
I realize that we are in an uncommon situation compared to other places.
Many paths of our mountains are made following the route of the roads of the First World War, now they are also of tourist interest.

https://www.turismofvg.it/en/first-world-war?LangSetCMS=en

However, if these roads marked as military they will not be included in the planner routes and it is a pity.

I think this is the correct interpretation:
access=no (for vehicles)
and foot=permissive
if it was not possible to pass on foot then we would have
foot=no

I'm not very expert in mapping, I've contributed a few times to OSM, but from what I see the road I've reported has no military tag, only the name indicates that it's a military road:
access no
bicycle permissive
foot permissive
highway unclassified
max speed 50
motor_vehicle permit
name Monte Sabotino military road
surface asphalt
width 2.5

There is a special tag for military zones:
landuse military

Maybe these are the areas that could be left out as currently are from the planner.

In reality, the registration takes place, as soon as I click on the notification the data reported by the app are correct, see attachment.

I then took advantage of the locus bookmarks and the teachings of Tapio (https://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?msg=69054)

I created a bookmark that "calls" tasker, namely a task with the name Plantnet

Since for Tasker there is no problem to open any app, a simple "Launch App" command was enough to get the result.

I turned a shortcut into a bookmark and for me it's even more useful, so I have everything in the same menu.

That's all fine but Quick bookmark in panel opens a dialog to select a bookmark.
For me a feature to add a bookmark button directly in the side/bottom/... panel will be much better.
This is only possible via tasker plugin. That's why I use both ways today.

problem with the notifications > then I do not know for now, sorry.

Peakfinder > thanks. I can't test it but I trust it works. Added to "Predefined" options.

A limited list of apps > Locus Map does not have permission to access all available apps on the device, only the pre-selected ones. So I need to manually define supported apps. This is different compared to Tasker.

The new Beta version has just been published. Enjoy it!

Everyone has their preferences, I like having all the links in the same menu, but many would love your idea. I saw a request for this on:
https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/22994-tasker-and-quickbookmarks
App links or bookmarks are very similar and the functions can be confused, perhaps it would be appropriate to combine them by distinguishing internal links to phone apps and external links to web services, therefore even clearer between offline (app) and online (web).

don't worry, for the use I make with locus always open it's strange that I noticed it

I understand. I don't know how many have not found an app among the links, for me it's the first time with Plantnet. If you want you could open a thread in the forum or wherever you prefer, so that everyone reports the missing app data in the way you need and then you can implement it in the next version.

Hello Menion, the latest Beta shows a weird effect about locations. I had searched a place in Australia, also added some points. Then made a track in Europe visible and had to change the orienation of the device (portrait to landscape). Guess what map I got presented ...
The latest point in Australia. Reproducable.
Seems like the active location bookkeeping is broken.
Good luck and cheers
Michael

Hello,
I have identified the following critical issue:
url "share location" misinterpreted depending on the method used

Case of use, in locus:
share -> my real time position (the first one, not LT)

now I can copy the link or choose which tool to share with
The copied text is like this example:
"Ciao, Locus Map dice che sono qui al momento: https://web.locusmap.app/loc/45.90000:13.90000."

If I share it with whatsapp there is no problem and the link is interpreted correctly, but if i use a text message the url is misinterpreted as it also considers the final "."

Unfortunately, the misinterpreted link is not formally incorrect and still opens the position but in the wrong place.

As far as I know it is the messaging application that interprets the link because it is not possible to create a real hyperlink in text messages. The message app I use is the default of Samsung.

Even if the error depends on an external app it is better to remove the "." so that the risk of error is reduced

Hello,
with this bookmark setup you have access to the Strava Heatmap in the desired location.
Schermata da 2023-01-08 14-56-15.png
The first time the browser opens you only need to log in to see the higher zoom level.

The zoom I used is fixed at 15, because using the same Locus zoom level the two maps differ too much.

No need to manage with config file, cookies, edit file as in this old post https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/strava-heatmap-requires-now-authentification-at-higher-zoom#comment-54089

Obviously a different result is obtained, but for someone it could be useful to easily see the most popular routes

forgive me as this is posted in wrong forum & topic but ignored anyway; there is a similar issue with the Web Planner, sharing a track, mentioned a few times, but never fixed, this time outdoing LM app - sibling rivalry - TWO trailing decimal places, for example
https://web.locusmap.app/en/?shared_track=NzY4ZjAxMDUtOTFmZi00MjY1LTkzMzMtNzA4OTY4NWRmODlhOmNjZjgxMzZmLWYxOGMtNGY2Yi04MGU1LTVmN2FhYTcwMWQ3Yg..

@Michael Bechtold
problem with centering of the map > I noticed it too, thanks. Should be fixed in the next version.

@lor74cas
dot at the end of the shared URL > thanks. I've removed it in the EN translation so others will follow.

@Andrew Heard
from where is the link to the shared web planner route? As I see, in the URL generated by the Android app, no such "double-dots" exists.

@Menion - that is why I apologized for cross post - I'm not referring to the Android app, just to web planner > My Library > Tracks > track > Share. Yes, wrong place to mention, and waste your time. But here is the original suggestion (https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/25151-remove-two-trailing-decimal-point-characters-from-track-route-link-sharing) 18 months ago.

Hi guys, I was stuck for almost a whole week solving problems with quite random crashes at the start in some cases ...

Anyway.. the new Beta version 4.13.2.4 on Google Drive (http://bit.ly/lmVersionsTest) with some minor tweaks. Hope all will work as expected and ... enjoy the weekend of course!

Menion, since you made changes to the trackinfo. There is this compressed view, you implemented it a while ago. On my screen, it displays incomplete parts of the next line, so it could go lower down to the orange line. See screenshot.

Something you can improve or is it device dependent? Screenshot_20230113_170708.jpg
