Title: Locus doesn't start on Chromebook
Post by: flsch on June 04, 2021, 21:27:09
Hi,

since a couple of days (maybe since last update) the app crashes on startup.
My device is a Lenovo Chromebook.
I reinstalled the app, no success.

I have no idea what to do to make Locus run again. :-/

Best regards
Florian

Hi Floarian
what app version are you using? If LM4, you may try the latest Beta version from the Beta channel here (https://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?topic=7369.0).

Thanks Menion,

I uninstalled LM 4 and installed the latest beta. No changes, App crashes after 2 seconds.

Thanks for the test. With the new Beta, I probably see an error that happens to you in automatic reporting system we use.

Seems that app has a problem with the open of your point/track database. First what you may do is restart of the device.

App has data in the Locus/data/database directory and needs read-write access there which may be a problem sometimes.

You may also try to restore a backup file manually from the automatic backup data stored in the Locus/backup.

Or if it is not a problem to you, you may share with me your Locus/data/database directory (just send me this directory as a zip over any sharing service) and I'll check if databases are ok (or fix them if there will be any kind of "corruption").

I deleted 6 files named waypoints* and tracks* in Locus/data/database
Then Locus started, but now I have 2 new problems:

- Locus crahses when I switch to settings
- loading of geocaches via the geocaching plugins fails, no caches are shown on live map

Hi,
interesting. This happens also with the latest Beta version, right? If so, may you write me your ID (visible in menu > about app > the first tab). I'll try to look if with this ID any automatic crash report exists. Thanks.

No, that happened with the latest version from play store.
I went back after deleting waypoints and tracks.

Now I'm running beta again. App doesnt crash on settings anymore.
But still no geocaches.

I'll send you my userid via pn.

Hi,
so crashes solved, fine.

No geocaches ... live map is probably enabled in G4L add-on, but what about "Connect with add-ons" settings in the LM Settings > Misc settings? Also, direct import of caches over G4L add-on works?
