Title: Online map cache timeout
Post by: john_percy on April 22, 2021, 11:14:35
How do I set cache timeout to "never" (or "valid for" to forever)?
Do I set the value in the field to 0, -1, or a very large number?
I can't find anything in the knowledge base.

Hello John,
this parameter is defined as hours. So best should be to insert there some really high value. ~8000 hours per year? Add two more zeros and you are safe  ;)

If I set a really large number, a green toast says that it has been set to unlimited (ok); the field reverts to blank if I re-open the dialogue (possibly ok). If the timeout is set in providers.xml, the value reverts to that value the next time I run Locus. Is that correct behaviour? I'm running Locus Pro.

Probably is.

If you want to understand it better, few notes:
- value define in the app or in an extra XML file, define maximal value
- if a value above 365 days is set, a default value is used

Ok, so what is the basic default value? Not cached, cached forever, or something else?

The default base value for all online/external maps, when not specified differently by the map provider, is infinity.
