Well, it was around 35K tiles, and Google allows 10K/day. Highest level was 14, and after the first day it never got even to 50% of L14. I broke it off after 6 or 7 days. So there is definitely something wrong. I know about the skipping, but that didn't happen here.
My explanation was just an idea, but what you write still fits: Each tile has a timestamp, and the settings for the download say "replace all tiles older than 0 days". So if you download a tile today and then restart the download tomorror, it will look at the timestamp and reload the tile (at least if the current time is also later, depending on that some tiles may be skipped which would explain some differences in how far the download gets). Obviously, you remember which level we were in last, so the lower levels don't get started again.
Should be easy to reproduce ;)

Well, then this is a problem :). Can't you just use some longer time? Just kidding. Oki, makes sense. I've just change whole behavior of "Overwrite older" tiles. So in next version, next download, will at first start compute exact time of this "older", and this time will be used even next days when download will continue. Hope I made my change correctly ::)

Too be true I didn't follow the discussions the last times so maybe I missed something. I tried to search for the problem but couldn't find something. Maybe because I had problems to select a good phrase to search for. :(

While driving without navigation the Screen are no longer locked to the GPS Position. The setting (guessed english translation) "Map lock on GPS position" in settings are enabled as allways for me.
I assume that's a change in one of the latest versions.
I couldn't find a way to make it work which was bad because I was exploring a new area.
What's the steps to get the lock back?

I've somehow missed your and 0709 posts here, sorry.
Is centering still not working? Isn't simply on the screen visible a small popup with a selected track or point? This may prevent app from centering to your GPS location.

Version 3.51.3

1. I make a POI with an attached photo. Automatically the current photo is being used for an icon on the map.
2. Then I export a current folder with POIs with the option "Including descriptions & attachments".
3. The resulting "doc.kml" inside a .kmz now contains ugly and extremely long <Style id=""> and <Icon><href> is leading to nowhere because the resulting .kmz file does'n contain that icon in its "files" folder.

Error with recorded track shown on Mapscreen:
Recorded track is shown red on Mapscreen, that is how it is supposed to be.
After loosing GPS in tunnel track is not shown further on Mapscreen. Had to stop recording and start again to show it:

You have seem to set minimal accuracy to 20m. This value is really strict and depends on your device. But in most cases, mainly in the forest and city areas, this value is too low. Suggest changing it to at least 50 m to be safe .. give it a try.

The problem was not, that it didn't record. It did record, just didn't show it on the map. I waited quite some time after the tunnel and had a solid fix. Don't think changing that value will solve it but I'll try.

Sorry for this late feedback I normally don't pass the tunnel where the error happend.

Second test today revealed problem persists even with changes in the accuracy but I saw that I forgot to mention that Geocaching4Locus was running with GC Live-map. Zooming in and out brought the red track line back on the screen. While returning I tried the car profile and no track line appeared on the map. So I changed the car profile to "show only part of the track on the map" to optimize the performance and the track showed up on the map and no disappearing of it after passing the tunnel.
So I guess that means it is a performance problem of my phone.

Hi, hmm performance problem should not cause this. What about the style of your track? Are you using some simple coloring (red) line, nothing more? Just asking if there isn't some error on the background.

Since I have root I did install SysLog (https://github.com/Tortel/SysLog) now and hope to remember to use it, if the problem appears again (the aformentioned tunnel is 100km far from home).

@Menion: with 3.56.3 the log activation does not work either (Rena's A52) but here the detail dialog does not show up. In the moment you tap the "disabled" to change the setting, the KEY_B_... message pops up in the middle, and the green deactivated message comes and goes.

running Android 11 with the latest OAM v5 maps + LocusPro (currently 3.56.3).

Saving option as I found and performed:

1.
In the Locus app, assign the root directory to:
internal/Android/data/menion.android.locus.pro/files/Locus

2.
Assign subdirectories in the Locus app to:
storage/1234-5678/Android/data/menion.locus.pro/files/Locus/...

externally on the SD card under the storage/1234-5678/Android/data/menion.android.locus.pro/files/locus - path are then:
at
../mapsvector -> themes / OAM map files
../maps -> OAM worldmap
../data/srtm -> srtm elevation files

- hope it now works like this (permanently).

Two wishes in the attached picture:
1 could you make the level bars a little bit higher?
2. without a fix the values for height and accuracy should not show a wrong value.

Do you have mapsVector on ext SD? Then this is a known issue which cannot be overcome, EXCEPT you start to use ZIP themes.

Installing Elevate directly from OAMaps now installs the zip file to the correct place. Beyond that, concerning the details of internal and external memory and A11, I simply don't know.

If you go back to 3.55 (Sept. 2021), you are in control again - full access to non-private folders anywhere, INT and EXT. Not forever, but until Menion is in control of the situation - BEYOND private folders ...

If you want to stick with 3.56, see below:
- if you have enough space on INT SD, move the mapsVector back to INT SD (private folder), so e.g. x-plore can fully manage insta
- if you are happy to work via PC, you can forget sthe step above
- whereever the mapsVector is, empty the themes folder
- now test an OAM map with the internal default theme - it should display the map, however differently from Elevate look and feel
- if Locus crashes here, try another map, if that crashes, too, open a case in the help desk
- if Locus is still alive, install Elevate via OAM web page and check that there is the Elevate.zip in your mapsVector
- now switch the theme to Elevate or Elements

Permissions: long story discussed in LM4 topic anyway Google allowed Locus Map 4 to temporarily use "All files access" so it allows having directory in the internal memory root as before (we do not know for how long this exception will be valid, but at least it gives me some time). Unfortunately, Locus Map Pro request was twice denied. I'll be generating LM Pro with this option to the public Google Drive for direct APK download (January). That's the best I may do for now.

I'm not sure what exactly is the problem now. App in the latest version is still slow? "mapsVector" directory on the SD card should not cause any huge performance issues in the latest public version. Anyway steps described by @michaelbechtold are precise so give it a try.

As you can see in my screenshot I have a perfect fix (9/11 satellites, accuracy is 4 m).
All previous LM versions did show the bars and I have this little problem on all of my phones now.

I also noticed that the indicators are not displayed in the last version. He does not help the phone reboot, I'm sure previously appeared. But it does not affect the route record, so I did not. But i'm using a version 4x

I have tried everything, but the problem persists!

1. since the update to 3.56.4 Locusmap Pro is extremely slow when building maps (if the maps are on the external SD card).

2. the app stops or crashes when the themes selection (e.g. elevate or elements for the v5 OAM maps) is called!!!

- without success!

menion, not only me, but many others too are really getting desperate and are annoyed!
It can't be that this should mean the end of LocusPro for many of us !
You only have to look at the various cycling forums - people have really had enough of LocusPro since the update and the resulting errors when calling up the themes/maps and urgently want a solution

Please find a solution! I'll appreciate your help.

1. if the rendering of the map itself is slow, then it has to be a problem with the slow SD card! Really suggest using internal memory if possible.

2. crash when selecting theme was detected and will be fixed in today bug-fix version

Desperate and annoyed > I and others in the team fully understand. Imagine our situation. 8 people depending on the quality of the product. So it is in our highest interest to have a fully working and reliable app. If there are really mainly these two issues, they are solvable I believe.

Btw. You may also try to add map to the /xxxx-xxxx/Android/media/menion.android.locus.pro/mapsVector directory. There app has full access as well as you as a user. Anyway this is solution "in testing" and not officially documented yet.

1. I'll be publishing a new version today, so give it a try. At least themes should work correctly now
2. try placing a single vector map to the mentioned /Android/media directory with this new version. Is there a difference if placed on the SD card or internal memory?
3. if so, what exactly means "slower"? Does it take significantly more time when you move with the map, till all tiles load? If so and you will be willing to spend some time with testing, we may iterate it with few testing versions to find out read reason for this. This anyway a little later, firstly new version. Thanks for the patience.

I have tried moving the oam-map to the "media" directory on the external card - the card structure is slightly better, BUT:
the 'themes' also moved there cannot be called.

This is probably because the subdirectory is still set to the data folder
storage/xxxx-xxxx/Android/data/menion.android.locus.pro/files/Locus/mapsVector,
and not to the media folder
storage/xxxx-xxxx/Android/media/menion.android.locus.pro/mapsVector
- problem is there, under:
Settings -> Miscellaneous -> Default directories -> Set own subdirectories -> Assign 'mapsVector/' directory,
it is not possible to change this private directory/ folder!

Sure, this is how this feature is done. Content of the "media" directory is used similar to old "external maps". So independent directory where may be placed user-defined maps, nothing more.

The reason I wrote about this directory was to test the performance of the vector maps you complained about.

for me the very slow map build only occurs when unzipped themes are in the theme folder of the extSD
if there are only zipped themes, the map build runs as usual smoothly

i think thats your problem, you download and install the unzippen theme
delete this theme on extSD data..._themes

It is also not a "rare crash when selecting vector map themes" - it happens to many users.

(also: private folders cannot be assigned differently yet - the private folder path cannot be changed anymore)

The display of the GPS signal is fixed in the new version 4.5.7. It even looks like it appears much more satellites.

In fact, as I have now discovered after several test runs, the map layout (when externally stored in the media folder) is not significantly faster than otherwise (stored in the data folder).
Only if the maps are stored internally, the maps assembly is very, very fast.

2.
I think the OAM themes are OK, they were downloaded recently - and if both OAM maps and themes are in the internal memory, everything works fine.
(I have send to you via PN the link with the data because the attachement is larger than 2048KB...)

3.
a rather complicated procedure results in the app not crashing when the vector themes are called up:

a) under Settings:
Set subdirectory for 'mapsVector' to "App default setting"; this means internal/directory in the main directory of the app!")

b)but OAM maps have to be stored on the external memory card in the media folder
storage/1234-5678/Android/data/menion.locus.pro/files/Locus/mapsVector
(the "_themes" folder is empty!!)

c) !!! OAM themes (Elevate/Elements) are then stored internally (!) under
Android/data/menion.locus.pro/files/Locus/mapsVector/_themes

-> the themes can be called, selected and set without the app stopping or crashing.

It works like this, but it is very, very complicated, because different data is now distributed in different places - not very user-friendly. I also don't think that this is acceptable to many...

Why is it no longer possible to assign your own directory under "Settings-Miscellaneous-Standard directories-Specify your own subdirectories-Assign directory" (see screenshot)?
You can't change the path for the private folder on the SD card at all!

I decided to revert to the default directory and did so on both Locus Pro and Locus 4, allowing Locus to copy and delete files. All appeared to work well for Locus Pro but was surprisingly quick. After doing the same operation on Locus 4 I was left with no vector maps and no themes.

We are in Saudi Arabia and use unpaved roads a lot and highway=track, and the existing BRouter profile doesn't route via highway=track, so I made a custom BRouter profile, but it didn't show up on my LM Pro 3.56.5 although I tried to put it here:
Android/data/menion.android.locus.pro/files/Locus/router/profiles2
And:
Android/data/menion.android.locus.pro/files/Locus/data/brouter/profiles2
And:
Android/data/menion.android.locus.pro/files/Locus/data/router/profiles2
It did not appear inside the application. Please help me solve the problem or modify the basic profile to include the roads on the highway=track tag by modifying the cars profile and adding this line:
switch highway=track 1
At line 65 approx

Hello John,
once you allow migration to a private folder, first one wins. Second one inherits empty places.

As LM4 has the full access privilege, it might be able to catch the maps from private LMP. But that I kind of doubt. That's the hour of /Android/media (without app specific extension, maybe, LM4 catches all from top level, LMP does not, needs private extension - and a fix).
That is the location to share "media" between apps.

In my case the error (which is really a Locus v4 one) was on Locus itself responding to me changing the chosen directory for vector maps by attempting to copy then delete my maps from a "default" directory - which was derived from a shared base directory on internal storage - to my chosen directory in the media folder. Locus Pro did this absolutely fine. I then repeated the process in Locus v4 which simply deleted all the maps. *If there was some access error, Locus ought to have warned me and stopped.*
I have since manually copied the maps to the media folder and added the folder in map manager, rather than by setting custom folders.

I tried the method and it didn't work at first until I discovered the reason, which was that the default directories were on the external memory, I don't know why it was there and I changed it to the internal memory in the application's folder and the private profile appeared and the problem was solved, thank you very much

Locusmap Pro only works as far as the selection of themes is concerned, as I found out after hours of trying (see my earlier post/ reply#55).

The problem with the themes under Android 11 has not yet been solved, and there is still no option to select/individually define the private folder "custom selection" when assigning the subdirectories (settings).

when I start a track recording for the first time after starting Locus Classic, this popup appears once, no matter if I agree or disagree the track recording works.
If I stop this recording and start a new one and also at every further start of a track recording the blue popup appears. However, Locus has access and the recording works without any problems.

If I remember correctly, this warning should appear in case

- app is not excluded from the battery optimization, or
- app does not have "background location" permission

Fact that the app is running correctly is interesting and I have no explanation for it. Anyway Locus Map forces to enable "All the time" location access to keep recording running correctly.

Something in Quick Bookmarks is now broken. Several of my custom bookmarks no longer work, which I could understand but some of the available preset bookmarks have also stopped working.
For example, Open Street Map and Google Maps (toast illustrated).

Unlikely, just an idea. Maybe something after Locus that cannot handle the padded leading zeroes? In the pure decimal latlon format they shouldn't be there. For LM4 I asked Menion to remove them from the variables.

Solved by clearing the "Open by default" settings for Locus. It seems to offer to open loads of URLs it can't actually handle.

With android 13 which is being deployed, access to the /android/data directory is more and more complicated (impossible, it was possible with Total Commander, but it no longer works....), and it becomes problematic to read and write files there (for example, to recover the NMEA traces).
Would it be possible to move the directories used by Locus Map into /Android/media, which remains more easily accessible to it?

This whole SAF is insanity on steroids - IF Google does not employ a reasonable exception policy. All geo apps are valid candidates, by design. But the Google support folks that dealt with Locus e.g. are perfect candidates to be fully substituted by an Excel macro. Same outcome, much cheaper.

Have you tried x-plore? Michal (its developer) has had a good grip on /Android/data access in the past, and just released a new version that claims access to /Android/data for Android 13 (my devices are not yet there, hence I cannot test myself).

Yes, I tried X-Plore, it works with /Android/data in internal storage, but not with the SD card.
I tried with the last beta version of Total Commander, same problem, works with internal storage, not with SD card. And this will change again with Android 14, sure !

So my question... it seems that using /Android/media is the only permanent solution.

I see a substantially higher battery drain since (I think) 3.69 on Android 8.1

Even when I "close" LM 3 Pro, it still shows up in the app battery usage with a substantial percentage after some hours. With "closing" I mean I dragging the app out of the list of apps. I know this isn't really closing the app, but until 3.68 this was enough to make LM not use battery any longer. The battery consumption is "consistent" with actively using LM, so it seems before 3.69, "closing" it did something different.

Any ideas?
