Title: Updates: What happened to the graphic engine?
Post by: taunide on May 25, 2019, 19:59:31
Hi there
Locus updated several times recently. Now all my graphic maps (sqlitedb) coming up washy and unsharp, unusable except highest zoomlevel. And even there , washy and contrastless. With all my devices. Requesting a release fallback!

3.38

I seem to have the same issue. Using a new Moto G7 plus with 3.38 since yesterday. Online maps e.g. OSM appear blurry / fuzzy, text / labels hardly decipherable. I was using 3.37 on Moto G5 plus previously, and am able to compare side by side: on the same zoom level, 3.37 is crystal clear and sharp with a lot of detail; whilst 3.38 has much less detail, and is blurry / fuzzy.

Interestingly, I observed the same phenomenon with a different app, c:geo. OSM maps are blurry / fuzzy on the G7 plus, sharp on the G5 plus. Same version of the c:geo app on both devices. When I disable hardware acceleration in c:geo, the problem on the G7 plus disappears: OSM are sharp and detailed. Of course I tried disabling hardware acceleration in Locus Map Pro as well (expert mode): didn't work!

Goto Settings - Maps - Offline Maps; turn off "Select map resolution automatically"

I don't understand why this should solve the problem. OSM maps like the one illustrated are online, surely?

Good point ... hmm quick fix placed into an incorrect section.
Anyway, it will work ...

@menion
Can't see any difference on either online or offline maps. What should I see?

Edit: I had to restart the phone to get this to work. Locus then changed its behaviour when this setting was changed from restarting in 5 seconds to restarting immediately on a tap, and the map resolution changed.

If you are still using MotoG device, the difference in your case should be 2x rescaled tiles when this option is enabled (so 1x1px of the map should be drawn on 2x2px on the device screen).

@menion. Yes, I'm getting the expected difference now, but I had to restart the phone before Locus restarts made any difference.

Yes, that did work. I changed the setting under ,,Offline maps", saw a message to restart the app, and after the restart, the (online) OSM maps look o.k. I didn't have to restart the phone. Thanks!
