Hi to all,
since I started to sell Pro version, more troubles then I expected comes. Like taxes, validations of my account, some other economic problem in my stupid republic system and finally "Terms of use" of some maps. Do you know Mobile atlas creator? Probably yes .. if no look at homepage here (//http://mobac.sourceforge.net/)
Do you see change on this page?? Similar change will now come to Locus! You can read more about it here (//http://sourceforge.net/projects/mobac/forums/forum/861096/topic/4470412). Bigger problem for me against Mobac is that payed users, paid for Locus, so I have to offer refunding if they'll want.
I'll write later some post on blog with some instructions and more precise information.
After that, you can still use Locus of course. You can still use maps for own usage. You'll be able to add custom maps with already working method. But all maps that violate terms of use, will not be directly in Locus.
Sorry for that!
F***.
So, tell me if I'm wrong, we need to quicky download all necessary google/yahoo maps because they will be removed?
yes, you understand correctly ...
EDIT: OK released. I want to have clear head before weekend, because I feel a little bit "terrible" because of this ...
some info here - http://locus.asamm.cz/?p=302 (http://locus.asamm.cz/?p=302)
You wrote it for Locus (Pro) 1.5.2, as I understand. What about update from 1.5.0 to 1.5.1? Is this update still possible later today ?
J.
That is pretty bad actually. I also used MOBAC before.
Here is /Ctrl+C Ctrl+V/ from the MOBAC forum about one particular map, which should be no problem to use.

thanks I know, this map is OSM based so I leaved it in locus ... thanks
jusc: yes 1.5.1 contain all maps. It's last version with all maps data (so keep it safe ;) )
some info here: http://locus.asamm.cz/?p=302 (http://locus.asamm.cz/?p=302)
What about keeping Locus 1.5.1 FREE and continue upgrades on Locus Pro?
EDIT : OK, answer is on the blog! :)

Yes I read this before, but I donĀ“t have 1.5.1 :-(
[s:9n49i7g8]Bad news... and for me too too late :(
Yes, I know that should read the warning at first, but:
Is it possible to return (by legal way) on version 1.5.1 from version 1.5.2 updated from a market?[/s:9n49i7g8]
Solved.
I don't know if older versions are available somewhere. If so, it's possible to use them. No one can force anyone to update to new version.
I just wrote an E-mail to Fonecta/Eniro customerservice for asking userlicence to use them map on Locus.
Hopefully they answer on next week and give the license for free.
Free because menion can put Eniro map back to Locus rightaway and free because people can use them map on internet for free.
Thanks Blackdawn. That's exactly what I need to people do.
I just wrote an email to Yandex.Maps for asking to use them on Locus.
Waiting for answer.
Hi Menion,
As you know I am on vacation so I haven't read about the map issue thoroughly. However, you do a very good job on Locus so I don't think the problem changes anything on the value on your work. I certainly don't want my money back and I think you should just continue and selling Locus Pro just like now - of course updating the description appropriately. You have my full support.
Well said, marlar!
Keep on your good work, menion!
Only cowards want a refund! ;)
BTW, I'm now also back on 1.5.1! ;)
Yes, marlar you are right! Menion, you have full support from my side too!
Matthias
Hi Menion,
first of all I would like to thank you for the great app Locus Free / Pro; I used the free version for some time and bought the paid version because the advertisements annoyed me, and also to support your great work. BUT: I really supposed that you checked before that you are allowed to use all these maps!!! Really, that is unforgivingly: the whole world talks about license-issues for music, videos, and MAPS, that's nothing new, isnt' it? And I also don't believe that all these maps-providers changed their licensing over night ... I know from your homepage that you are rather young in years and in this business, but let this debacle be a warning for the future: check such things first, and don't sell people something you aren't allowed to sell or don't own.
Nevertheless: I don't want my money back, altough I don't hope to get legally all the maps back. The app is very good but of much lesser use for me without especially without "Outdoor Active / Austria", Bing and Google.
Martin
I bought this app because it is brilliant and does exactly what I need (although some of those things I didn't know I wanted until I saw them in Locus!)
If I was a new user and only just saw Locus on the market, I would still pay for the pro version, even without the map sources built in.
I will not be asking for a refund!
Good job Menion; I look forward to further improvements to your excellent app!
For my uses in USA-New England, the OSM maps work just fine. I just paid more for a pack of cigs than this cost me. You obviously work hard at this and it shows. Keep up the good work.
I think the Wanderreit maps are stopped from even displaying in Locus. Independend of zoom, the STOP tiles pop up and asks : does your request meets the term of use? (in german) ?
Right ?
Hello,
I am re-discovering the power of Locus, and all the new functions and modifications .... following an update of the version on my Dell Streak.
Until now, I was using Locus as a companion software of c:geo, but now that c:geo will not be maintained, I was looking to back to Locus as some friends told me that Geocaching functions was also available in Locus ! I am premium member, so no trouble to use Locus with my favourite pocket queries ! and I support your will to increase such functions !
But this is not exactly the object of this post .... I have also discovered that, like Mobac, restrictions have been put on Map types .... some disappointments at the moment :| .... that rapidly disappeared when I discovered the ArcGis maps ....
My question is then : are ArcGis maps free of license problems ? no risk to have the same problem as for Google maps ?
Hi, no there is no risk. I'm careful now :) They have also very huge limits against other maps, so there should be no problem
read here http://www.esri.com/legal/licensing/termsofuse.html (http://www.esri.com/legal/licensing/termsofuse.html). Hope I do not miss anything
I just reinstalled Locus Free after updating the custom ROM on my Droid and now I no longer see the Esri ArcGIS Online maps. How do I get those back? Also I'd like to see more of their base maps as options (like their new National Geographic map).
Thank you!!
Pepe, about ArcGIS maps is this post http://www.locusmap.eu/version-1-14-4 (http://www.locusmap.eu/version-1-14-4)
Probably you missed the news from the 1.14 update...
http://www.locusmap.eu/version-1-14-4 (http://www.locusmap.eu/version-1-14-4)
Unfortunatly, ArcGIS isn't supported anymore

Ahh... damn... how I hate my slow connection... :D
I know you won't like this, but I could easily block the ads and install the APK for an older version to remain complaint with Esri's terms. Where do I download APK of version prior to removal of Esri maps?
Berkley,
Would you be able to use Map Tweek to add Esri base maps back into Locus? I wouldn't be breaking license agreement as I am already licensed to use the Esri Web Mapping API.
I am sorry, ArcGIS is out so far...
If you have some kind of license for it, you should contact ESRI.
