Title: Street names font is too small
Post by: ircro on April 10, 2011, 22:58:00
Hi, very nice app you have.
However, I have a problem with fonts being too small for street names on SE Xperia X10. Compared to Google maps they are half the size and they are hard to read.
X10 has 480x854 resolution at only 4 inches display. Can anything be done about it?

hi,
your display is too small on so big resolution. For that you can use "Settings->Map->Double sized resolution" option or just lock map on map screen by second bottom button

Those options give the right font size (just about the same as Google maps app) but the map looks ugly (pixelized).  :(
I suppose that Google maps has different versions of the application for the different phones because I have 4.4 version for Sony Ericsson X10 pre-installed on the phone.
Does anyone else have the same problem on other phones?
Would it be easy to make second version of the app to look good on hi-res phones?  ;)

it's impossible, maps are bitmaps so I cannot increase font and keep background. Google maps use now vector maps, so they can!
