Title: Locus Store
Post by: jusc on March 06, 2015, 16:43:34
Two Questions at maps from Locus store.
1. There are the IGN France maps?
2. New GSI maps are only for Japan?

Thanks in advance

Hello Jusc,

a) where you noticed information about IGN. In Locus Store > Provider?

This information is correct. IGN maps are already more then week prepared and ready to publish. Unfortunately we are still waiting to confirmation of our solution from IGN owners. If they will send us information till monday, IGN maps will be in mondays version, otherwise you will have to wait another month.

b) GSI maps are in Locus more then year. We just move some maps, that are by default available in list of online maps right after install, to Locus Store. So users who do not care about such maps, do not have them in the list. And yes, GSI maps cover only Japan.

Hope I gave you required answers, otherwise feel free to ask.

sorry to hijacking this thread..
but same topic :)

(http://s29.postimg.org/5k6zudjzn/2015_03_06_165021.jpg) (http://postimg.org/image/5k6zudjzn/)
map dl was ok (finished) - but extract and/or writing file was not possible and fail.
Has Locus some better mechanism to check, card space, write protections,... and other warnings ?
because "not downloaded correctly" isn't a exact information whats wrong here.
and "try later again" doesn't helps here.

hmm any idea what happen? Low space on disk? If you have moved mapsVector directory to different place, there were incorrect check for a free disk space. So maybe it is related to this issue.

Yes, mapsVector directory was changed in setting

Diskspace? hmm 165 GB free  :)
As i wrote - Locus can download all the maps from Locus Store - but extract failed

a CatLog file would help?

got it, thanks.

Interesting, you tries to download map of Andorra? Seems this map (maybe only a file "andorra.osm.tmp") already exists in target directory and is bigger then expected downloaded map, is it possible?

already exists because i try is once more and more,...

As i wrote,
Locus DL and create a file in the right(!) dir, called *.tmp (this is the ziped map)
After that, Locus stop his work without a message and without offer the srtm data
On second try - we have the error message.

Understand. Locus tries to continue in already partialy downloaded file (tmp), but error in your log say that this tmp file is already bigger then map file you try to download. How this may happen? Hmm small mystery

maybe you can reproduce this by yourself.
I think genymotion is also able to mount a shared folder between PC and Android, right?

Change the default vector map folder and assign to a shared folder from genymotion.

Hi Gynta, "...map is charged" is meant that the map has to be paid for, not that it has been charged (paid) already.

Enter a wrong voucher-code in store generates an unknown error 121
- but after one scond Locus suddenly knows the Error.
I would say, first error popup is unnecessary, because red warnings always are bad ;)

Gynta has asked for my comments as I am English, and my native language is English.

I think it should say either (a) "xxx will be charged" or (b) "xxx is chargeable"

Option (b) is probably marginally better English but (a) is clearer in meaning and perfectly OK English.

"Xxx is charged" creates problems over the tense, as pointed out in the thread -- it could mean "xxx has been charged already"

Hmm and do you feel it is really necessary here? It is just a final confirmation. All visible information are known to you so there is no reason to cancel now. Even here you still have two ways to cancel - tap outside and tap on "back" button. Which is enough I believe.

As I'm checking guidelines from Google, they everywhere has cancel/ok buttons. Damn .. :)

I think that reads badly (native english speaker here also)

It makes it sound like you can "re-charge" maps - and they dont need recharging as they are a one off purchase. That wording would work if a dollar amount preceeded it eg "$5 will be charged" but thats not included information so it makes barely any sense.

Better to say "This map is not free, Would you like to purchase it?" with the buttons for the locus store or to cancel out. That reads properly and is not ambiguous and keeps it simple and isnt confusing

The old Locus Quiz continues..

Question 1:
2 screenshots - same map version?
(http://s11.postimg.org/f6kmu6hi7/2015_05_22_234607.jpg) (http://postimg.org/image/f6kmu6hi7/)
Answer:
(A) yes
(B) No

Question 2:
Why Locus isn't able to give clear information to compare map versions?
(A) who cares, use update tool in the store
(B) it's funny to confuse user

PS:  ;)

(same google account - but different devices)
Title: Re: Locus Store
Post by: Menion on May 27, 2015, 11:16:18
Hmm so much useful feedbacks, thanks!

So ..

@gynta: "Display" button. Hmm, it's purpose is to learn users, that maps are enabled/changes in Map manager and not in Store. This is reason, why "display" display Map manager and you have to manually enable this map. Next time you should know, that is easier to go directly to Map Manager and not Store. Bad idea?

Hmm and issue with double select ... after first tap, you see a Map Manager and on first sight it is not clear "what happen, where is a map". So it looks like it is more confusing then direct display of this map. Thanks, I'll try to fix "double select" and think once more, more precisely, about "Display button".

Flags for continents ... right, I'll try to improve as I already have an idea in head

@Christian: thanks, with next update of vector maps, this will be fixed

@gynta: problem with sizes ... hmm difference is because of POI database, damn ...

And problem with IGN ... there is a small issue, that Locus needs your profile downloaded from our web store. I'm sure then when you open Store and then return back and select IGN once more, it will work. I'm aware of this issue, but it just need a few more changes to make this work without need to open Store.

topic: IGN maps from Store

Device A
- Valid subscription
- all works fine (now)

Device B:
see clip)
- change to IGN
- request pops up "Would you like to purchase the map?"
My first scared reaction of coures was: "NO damn - i already subscribed"
- After a while, i think - ok, whatever i pay again and so i choose "STORE"
HERE i see: Valid "subscription"
- now i was confused again and leave the Store.
- And THEN - the map works.

Questions to the OutdoorActive maps:
Are the different layers (themes) included in the map download?

Can I use these downloaded maps on a second smartphone?

I had already downloaded my region (2.4 GB), but with the new (?) maps I have to buy at least 6 maps :-(

Hi Petr
thanks for answer

bad news after your changes
I'm sure you don't want to watch whole boring clip file - so here is the timeline:
(if you need - i can upload the clip)

00:04 start Locus Store from mapmanager map info (screenshot above)
04:21 after 4 minutes 17 Seconds I see 3 folder now

04:30 tap on Germany folder
05:01 after 31 seconds I see a list of federal states

05:06 tap on "Brandenburg"
05:39 after 33 seconds I see my map "Am Klosterwasser"

05:42 tap on map "Am Klosterwasser"
06:14 after 32 seconds finaly I can purchase the map

In total there were 5 minutes 53 seconds to purchase this example map
(from starting in this way)
previously i have to wait only 4 minutes :D

Now we (I) have to verify and compare experiences and test results from other users.
slow server, slow server scripts, slow connection on my side, slow connection on your side,...
If I have any news - I will post it here...

Quote- Italy > what you suggest?

V 3.9.3.7
OA in store:
1.
ten das ago i subscribe to OA (7 days for free) and unsubscribe after 6 days  :)
Yesterday i open subscription page in store and see furthermore text "7 days for free"
i subscribe oncemore, ok 99 LOC are gone.
Not a problem, but the text "7 days for free" should disapeare if user have already used this voucher.
Also it schould be discribed more conspicuously, that these maps are only Onlinemaps and not downloadable !
(http://s16.postimg.org/lf0qar4e9/Screenshot_2015_07_02_15_42_44.jpg) (http://postimg.org/image/lf0qar4e9/)

2.
after reading the discription of mapdownload and i´m aware "download is only one times possible", i start download of one OA map "summer Stuttgart"
After ~ 5% download didn´t continue. 15 minutes later i try to stop locus and get a popup window with option:
"do you want to close locus and continue download later" i confirmed it.
But this is not possible !  :-[ ok you discribed it however the popup misleading
So i own a offline map of Stuttgart ZL 10-14 for 150 LOC 50% discount ;)

@gynta: no worry, Petr is out of work till monday

@balloni:
- hmm oki, we should improve this text a little bit :) , but I believe that it is quite logical, that 7 day trial period is applied only once. Anyway
- "not downloadable" - word "online" is there, together with title, 4 times!
- what you mean by "didn't continue"? Download of one map may take up to half of hour because of huge amount of layers. Locus displayed any error message? And what is not possible? Stop and continue later? Should be, have to try it, thanks.

So in the end, do you have download Stuttgart map or not? :)

I'm curious :)

yes, but only ZL 10-14

Damn, whole map downloaded correctly on my device after 12 minutes.

Anyway you are correct. I've aborted download after few tiles and tiny map is downloaded in Locus/maps/outdooractive directory, but in Store is map visible as "purchase" and button "remove" do nothing. This is of course incorrect, because map is not yet fully downloaded. So there should be correctly "purchased", but also button "download" for continue in download.

I've fixed it now. Map should be marked as downloaded in moment, last tile is downloaded. It is system we have created and I think it is fair enough. So this "abort" have to allow continue later over store.

Glad you wrote me because I had almost version ready for publish!

So try to re-download your map with new 3.10.0 version, I believe it will work. Why anyway download stopped after five percents, do not know :(. Maybe try to create a log next time, thank you!

confirm i was able now to continue this download :)
it takes 30 minutes, mapsize 88MB, ZL10-15
thanks for turbo solving ;D
next question:
in discription you write about downloaded map scale 1:25000, but noting about zoomlevel :-[
and so i´m i little bit disappointed to get maximum ZL15, i expected up ZL17 similar in onlinemap

I too, my already downloaded maps (1-2 years ago with 10.000 tiles/day) have 9-17, the new maps only 10-15. That is really bad.
But I will write in another post my opinion/remarks.

@menion
I don't know if this is a Locus or a outdoor map problem:
I have downloaded yesterday one map on my Sony Z1c and copied this database to my second phone and to Bluestacks.
On the Z1c I can see this map in Locus pro and free.
On my second phone I see this map only in Locus pro, but not in Locus free: I get there "Zugriff verweigert".
On Bluestacks  the map does not show in Locus pro but in Locus free.

I have no clue where to search.

Guys, if map in zoom 15 has more then 100 MB, then one same map in zoom 17 will be at least 1600 MB, single map!

So downloading around 8 hours? 8 GB card may contain only five maps? Hmm ...

About usage maps on different device: check if you have in Locus Store enabled exactly same account you used for purchase.
Title: Re: Locus Store
Post by: tramp20 on July 05, 2015, 11:01:30
Now the main post to the new OutdoorActive maps:

1. Choice and download is (for me) perfect as all your programming work :-)
2. As mentioned 2 posts before I am not happy with the zoom level 10-15 as my already downloaded maps have 9-17.
3.The card layer are completely unusable: I assume Alpstein has automatically generated the MTB and hiking themes because they make absolute no sense (I looked at several locations near my village or my main MTB tracks).
3 The Alpstein summer maps have the same state as my old ones.

So I am really disappointed (not with your work!) but with these expensive Alpstein maps. I have to download 6-8 maps for my region but this is not worth of.

Nevertheless thank you for your work.

Yes, I have only one account and I controlled this: on all phones the same LoCoins value is shown.

On my Bluestacks phone free and pro asked now for access to my Google account and now the Alpstein map is shown.

On my second smartphone the map is now shown too after several clicks to the store and my account without a message.

So perhaps all is ok then.

additional info to
Quotemapsize 88MB, ZL10-15
in ZL15 map covers in my example ~35x40 km
and not as discribed
QuoteEach packet covers area of approfimately 50×60 kms and contains maps of several zooms equivalent down to 1:25000

EDIT
so next question is:
if i download 2 maps side by side
- do they touch at ZL10 and i have a gap at ZL 15?
or
- do they overlap at ZL 10 and touch at ZL15 ?

I have downloaded 4 maps and I see no gaps in all ZL 10-15.

I need two maps for my little village :-)

The main disadvantage are IMHO the layers: it looks terrible.

Title: Re: Locus Store

I'll forward this discussion to Petr, once he return from vacation (not sure, maybe tomorrow) as he is main guy behind "what you see". I'm just a guy who make it work in Locus :).

Anyway layers ... it was quite long discussion also with guys from OutdoorActive. If I remember correctly, both layers use exactly same source of data. So when we took zoom 16 and zoom 15 resizes to 200% in Locus, result was almost identical!!! So to save you space on card and money (mas will be otherwise little bit more expensive) and also to reduce download time from more then 2 hours per map!!!, we decide to this solution.

Anyway I'm not saying it is a final. It may change of course. From my point of view, it needs some usage in the field. I'm also heading to Austria Alps in second half of July so I'll be using only these maps to test how usable zoom 15 + scaling is. Then we should open discussion again, possible? Thanks for opinions, they are welcome.

hello gynta, thank you for a very useful feedback, as usually!

- IGN maps, fixed, thanks
- slope ... hmm we discuss it a lot. Problem with summer maps is that it already contains a huge amount of layers and every extra layer increase time required for download of offline map a lot. So we decided that this layer is less required compare to others.
- Map1.eu - I'll also forward this to Petr.

Hi
sorry for late response. I was on vacation there are some comments:

@tramp20
Actualization of OA maps - OA service updates maps continuously as they receive change from their partners or the users. This is official answer from OA Alpenstein. I cannot say that map is completely new but it's possible to say that some parts were updates.
MTB tracks – well it's complicated for us to influence it. More complicated are long distance hiking and long distance cycling trails that have the same appearance.  However I'll forward your notes to the OA managers. On the other side they use this system for long time, so I hope that they have more experiences then we in Locus :)

@tramp20 @gynta
The speed – the first request to the store can take about 20 – 30 seconds. I mean the first from all Locus apps in custom version. The result is cached for about 1 – 3 hours (every Locus version has own cache). It's possible to say that one request from thousands can really take 20 – 30 seconds. The rest should take about couple of seconds. The average latency is about 300 - 500ms. Would you please try non-testing version of Locus to check the speed?

@Christian
Content of OA maps – your issue could be also caused due to testing version. Do you get different result also right now with standard Locus Pro/Free version?

@Balloni
Thank you I'll improve the description. And neighbors maps should touch at ZL15

I was using NON-Beta = 3.9.x Pro final.
Just now testet with latest 3.10.3. Needed 8sec until the list from store is generated. All fine.
But the question was why is there a difference between
map -> details -> store ...and
map -> store.
The same list  should be generated by the server.

Map1.eu - I know, but it's little bit more complicated and I want to discuss it with our copywriter. It's similar to balloni's post about missing zoom-level information. I want to find the best way how to say: "This map is available only to zoom-level=15"  The problem is that nobody knows what zoom-level is. For this reason we started to use comparison to paper map scale. Maybe it's not ideal?

Hi,

When going to Store / My Account icon / Check for updates, the list is populated with all my purchased maps and available updates eventually.
Most of the countries / regions I won't need anymore as not planning to visit.

Is it any chance to bring some option to delete unwanted items permanently to show desired maps only?

I remember Google Play had that lack of option in All app tab, keeping all downloaded titles. After few years they have decided to make it more user friendly.

I know as we are talking about few, maybe dozens of maps comparing to hundreds of app, but that would be helpful.

QuoteI wanted remove my outdoor active map subscription but first Locus force me to subscribe again..
Well ... I was scared that there is some trouble with subscription...I've tried to find out more from history and it seems that your subscription for outdooractive maps was not active on 28. December. I guess that you had to already cancel it - probably during November. For this reason Locus ask for purchase. Is it correct?

The email (informed about valid subscription till 2016/01/26) was send from our development site. It should have postfix "- DEV" in subject. It has to be long term issue from summer. Your account remain in database because you've probably tested outdooractive subscription before official release. As the result of this DEV server you received the misleading notification email but the subscription on real production site was not active. However this nonsense is also fixed.

Then,I founded the two files (*), and they were stored not in the "france" folder, but just above, in the "europe" folder...
Finally, all became OK after a cut and paste of the two files to the france folder...

Every time I try to go to Locus Store, I get an error message:
Unknown Problem
AuthenticatorException,
android.accounts.AuthenticatorException:
NetworkError
Error code:11304

Hello syni,

I'm checking Locus source code and this error may happen in case, Locus has a problem with validation of your credentials. I remember that this issue rarely happen and usually helped restart device or remove/add account in Android "Accounts" settings directly in your device. Of course I expect that you have a perfectly working internet connection, which may otherwise cause also this problem. May you please try mentioned options? And sorry for a complications.

Is that not the same error I got with no internet connection?
Title: Re: Locus Store
Post by: Menion on July 03, 2016, 13:40:28
Yep same error code if I remember correctly, but it does not means it's same problem.

Problem here is that Locus use method included in Android device and if this method fail, it just return some undefined error > and Locus display this message. So there may be more reasons, not just problematic internet connection.

Yes, Locus Store doesnt work when I try to purchase the coins. It returns "Error, try again" every time after entering (correct) password of my Google account.
Sometimes Locus crashes with error during this operation.

Good day Sersus2,

I'm sorry to say this, but it will be little bit complicated here. Mainly because it looks for me as it is not a problem with Locus itself, but with a In-app billing system in Google Play application.

Firstly, are you able to create a screenshot with mentioned error message, so I may exactly see how it looks and where it appear?

And also, are you able to create a log right after Locus Map crash, with this method http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:how_to_create_debug_log ? It should help find out reason why Locus crash, thank you and sorry for a complications!

I've just created a bug report and sent it to your "locus.map@" email from my google account "mrbaxmypka".
Temporary I can't attach the screenshot but I can do it some later if you need it.

Hello Petr,
since now theme HiLo is available on locus store :)
- inside store  is no version info
- also on device file manager
please make version visible
https://postimg.org/image/7vsery2kn/
on theme tab it´s named "HiLO V6" :D

Question:
is it possible to open a request window "delete old version" while user update to a  new theme version?

Wolfgang

Hi,
- you should be able to see version of theme in Locus store ( under images is row "version").

You're right, every version is downloaded to the same location: locus/_themes/hilo. I can not see any reason why should the location of theme respect the version of theme. It's the same as updates of map files.
The request "delete old version" does not make sense from my point of view. For example old version of any application is deleted when you update to the newest one, old map file is also deleted. Why should theme have different behaviour?

Hi Petr
ok,  version of theme is there visible, thanks

QuoteWhy should theme have different behaviour?

thats ok ;) and this is what i´ve expected
and now it´s clear for me V4 and V5 where installed/copied manually to  e.g.   _themes/HiLo_V4
so they arn´t recognized and automatically overwritten.
Thanks for clarification

I can understand that for testing or some playing with themes isn't mentioned "store solution" useful. But I hope that it's the best behaviour for almost all users that only want to download/update theme
Thanks for understanding

Store is a troublemaker for me. Its the unpacking. Super slow, when at 100% nothing happens, sometimes I do not know, sometimes I reboot phone because Locus is extremely blocked. E. g. now it left a message "Initializing" in the notification, which I cannot stop.
I wanted to install themes via store, which is virtually impossible. It is the unpacking IO.
I have to do it manully with total commander. Unpacking works there. Store: minutes/hours... Tc: 15 seconds.

Uncertain how to start new topic for Locus Store..sorry if incorrectly done.

Get error results. Attempted to download Canada topo (free), and TopOSM...results in unsuccessful.

Good day tjej01,
weird that this happen to you. May you please do one more test for us?
Simply tap on orange "refresh" button visible in top right corner. After that, app will try to restart a download and probably write some error again. And right after this happen, please try to create a log by this method: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:how_to_create_debug_log . Thanks

Psst, Canada Base Topo is a horrible map, obsolete data, not worth the time to download.  OSM (eg LoMaps) is much much better.

Besides, after using that map for more than a minute or two, Locus always locks up.  Maybe it's because of the funny non-north alignment, I don't know.  But menion, don't waste time trying to fix that because, have I mentioned, it's a horrible map so I don't care.  :)

Hello,
today i tried a track/guide of Rother, locus is set in Italian, the excursion is to a place in Italy, but the guide is in German. It would be advisable to filter the contents for the preferred language or for other known languages or it would be enough to put a flag of the available languages in the list of available guides, without having to see it in detail.

Hi lor74cas,
this is of course a good point. In the Locus Store is declared language of Rother routes as German, but it is hidden in the detail of the route. We will be probably next year working on the improved version of the Locus Store so I'll keep this in my mind ...

Hello,
there are other aspects of the store that need to be improved in my opinion:
today I tried to plan a track with the app but the route excluded the passage on a bridge which has now been reopened, this with LoRouter Offline.
I switched to LoRouter online and the bridge was transitable.
So I went to the store, I only updated the navigation data and now Lorouter Offline also finds the bridge open.
The problem is that there is no notification from locus if the altitude or navigation data is updated, the notification only appears when the map is updated.
The download speed in 4G is really slow despite the little data needed, therefore notification is required, so as to avoid having to do this when perhaps you are in a hurry.
I then wonder if it is possible to divide the map files into tiles, in order to update only those that have been really modified, at least for the LocusMaps. This way your servers would be less busy, as would our smartphones.

Hi,
split of LoMaps into some kind of tiles and far from doable, sorry. Anyway routing data are completely independent on the LoMaps. They are in the Locus Store currently under LoMaps as it was the easiest solution. But once you have downloaded any, the best is to use automatic updates and track them separately over settings > Navigation > LoRouter offline > settings button. Here you may set how often will be data updated. 4 days guarantee really small updates (only differences) so it is recommended option.

@lor74cas could you have used manual/ direct routing for the section over the bridge?

Sure I can use it, but I know it was open because I personally updated the info on OSM, for this reason I tested the routing on the bridge
